Featured pictures

Welcome to Our Website!

Since so many of our family and friends have been asking for updated pictures, I wanted to find a way to share more than 1 or 2 pictures at a time. I hope this will be a great way to regularly update you all on how we are all doing and so you can see what adorable children we have! Love to all!

Jason, Jenolyn, Jarin, Audrey, Hayden & Ammon

PS. Be sure to check out the new "video" section. The one of Hayden saying mama is so surreal, he looks identical to Ammon!

_MG_3184.JPG
_MG_3184.JPG
He was so focused and intent on finding those strawberries.
_MG_3186.JPG
_MG_3186.JPG
Hayden did so well picking strawberries (without any coaxing or coercing) that I made 3 batches of jam the next day. This was at our friends, the Hoenhke's house. They have a huge property that they have cultivated fabulously. Chickens, tortoises, artichokes, tons of fruit trees and all sort of veggies. Kids love it there.
_MG_3187.JPG
_MG_3187.JPG
Say cheese! This reminds me of the marshmallow version of "How do you get sticky peanut butter off the roof of your mouth?"

S'mores time! Our friends bought these HUGE marshmallows. They were even bigger then the graham crackers!

I made Emma this skirt for her birthday. Good thing I'm working on one for Audrey because someone was rather envious. (See her pouting in the background?)

I love how cute and sincere his smile is here.
_MG_2905.JPG

Hayden did this all by himself. I tell you, this kid definitely keeps me on my toes, but I love it. And times like these, I get a good laugh out of it too!

Now it's everybody's turn! Thankfully there was not room for mommy!

Well half of it at least. Sorry, these pictures aren't as helpful as they could be, but it's really a great kitchen. GE Profile appliances, a ton of cabinet space, tile counters, lights mounted under the cabinets, nice wood. Love it! Can't you see a great party?!

Memorial Day Fun

Now that's a pool
Now that's a pool
These first several pictures are from an Elder's Quorum BBQ that we went to on May 30th. This gorgeous back yard belongs to the mom of a good friend of ours. I know! We had a wonderful time. Jarin loved it so much that he even drew a detailed picture the next day telling me it was the coolest pool ever!

I tell you, when this little boy decides to do something, there is no stopping him!

Chino Valley Fire Station & More

Helping Daddy Mow the Lawn
Helping Daddy Mow the Lawn
Jarin loves to help Daddy mow the lawn. It's funny to see him copy Jason's movements, even wiping his arm across his forehead and pretending to choke the chord. Next time I'll have to pull out the video camera.
Hayden

Jarin and Audrey were climbing all over the truck while Jason and Jarin mowed the lawn.

Audrey was trying to help mow the lawn, but she had more fun playing with Hayden in the dirt.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter!
Bedstemor made Audrey's beautiful pink dress and found the cute pink ties and shirts for the boys. We tried and tried to get a picture of the three of them together (and happy) and it wasn't until after that I realized Audrey had a baggy of cereal in her hand. Oh well! At least they still look happy! Thank you Bedstemor!
Chino Valley Fire Station
Chino Valley Fire Station
Casey Tobler set up a visit to our local Fire Station. The kids were absolutely enthralled. The fire firefighters were extremely helpful and attentive to such a fun group of little kids. There were 7 kids ranging in age from 1 to 5 years. They even got to ride in the fire engine and sit in the driver's seat. Very cool!

For bonus points...can you tell the difference between a fire truck and a fire engine?

The kids and I went to Travel Town with my mom, my sister Stephanie and her 2 kids, Sam and Ellyn, my Aunt Melodie and her daughter Kristyn Stirling and last but not least, Kristyn's little boy Jackson. Very fun day! Super cold, but very fun.

Jarin loved Grandma & Grandpa backyard. He was especially fascinated by Grandpa's Water Feature with it's small water fountain. He tried to convince Jason that we needed one for our backyard too.

The Princess Tent
The Princess Tent
Grandma Hansen via Aunt Mary & Anne gave Audrey a very cute Disney Princess Tent. Jarin, Audrey & even Hayden had a very fun time playing although Audrey begged Grandma to come side too.

Coloring Time
Coloring Time
Ok, ignoring the fact that she's a little undressed Audrey had a lot of fun coloring with Grandma. The dress was also a gift from Aunt Mary. Audrey wore it as much as she possibly could. She even tried to convince us that she could wear it to bed as well!

Jarin's waterfall

Jarin was "helping" Grandpa draw pictures. I like the look on their faces both very intent on what they're doing.

Bird!

Hayden really, really, really wanted to touch Grandma's very breakable birds. Thankfully they remained safely out of reach. It was very cute to hear him say "Bird" over and over again though.

Golf Pros

All 3 kids absolutely loved playing on Grandma & Grandpa's very own golf course in their backyard. Although we're still working on the technique, they sure had a lot of fun pretending.

Now it's Daddy's turn to show the kids how the big boys play golf.

We had to stay on our toes to keep all of Grandma & Grandpa's fancy things out of Hayden's reach. Thankfully nothing broke and Hayden was a very happy little boy.

Latest Family News

Wow, August already?

Once again the time is speeding past! Jarin and Audrey had their first day of school this Monday and are LOVING it! Over the next few days I will add pictures of our activities over the summer. We've had a lot of fun relaxing and being with our family; it's hard to get back to the schedule of school but I know the kids enjoy and we all need it, right?!

Horseback riding

The pictures I just added are from a fun trip we had down the street and around the corner (literally) visiting the boarding stable of a good friend of ours. Our friend, Royah, has her horse boarded there and let us come visit; offering to let the kids take a ride in the arena. They LOVED it! Jarin was a little nervous at first, but Royah's horse is so sweet and Royah SO patient, he relaxed quickly and enjoyed himself. Audrey on the other hand, was completely enthralled. Even when her turn was over, she wanted to keep the helmet on so she could have a second turn. Maybe some day we'll do riding lessons. This is definitely one of the perks of living up here; there is so much more room and opportunity for "communing with nature". Tons of people have horses. Although when the kids tried convincing me "can we please, please, please get a horse someday too mommy??!" I reminded them of the massive piles of poop that would need to be cleaned up and the novelty of the idea wore off a bit...for now!

It's a boy!

It's been a very busy couple of months but I had to quickly let those of you that haven't heard that we are having another little boy. Audrey wasn't too happy to begin with, but she's accepting the idea now. =) If you want to see what I've been up to... feel free to check out my photography blog www.jenolynchristensenphotography.blogspot.com

Love to all!

Jenolyn and fam

Let's see...what's new around here?

Probably our biggest family news is that we're expecting baby #5 in April of 2011. We'll find out if it's a boy or a girl right before Thanksgiving. Audrey, of course, is 100% determined to believe that we're having a sister. I've tried to gently warn her of the possibility that Heavenly Father may be sending us a brother but she remains faithfully persistent in her belief. My sweet little girl. I know she was disappointed at first the day of Ammon's ultrasound, but she sure loves him now. Like she keeps telling me, "Mommy, we'll have to wait and see!"

Jarin is now in first grade at Cypress Elementary. We decided to try another school in the district that offers piano and Spanish starting in 1st grade. He really enjoys it but I haven't quite decided if I love driving an extra 45mins to an hour every day just to get there and back when we have a lovely school right around the corner. Any thoughts?

Ammon is a little walking boy now with quite the aptitude for climbing and emptying my kitchen cabinets. The other day I found he and Hayden playing hat shop with all my bowls. It was darling. Reminds me of when Hayden was Ammon's age; he loved to walked around the house with my strainer on his head.

Hayden is a very fun big brother. I try to encourage play time with he and Ammon since next year Hayden will be the big brother and home and Audrey will be in kindergarten. Amazing how fast time flies.

1st year done...many, many more to go!

Jarin has officially finished his first year of kindergarten. Seriously, where does the time go? He's grown so much this year (physically and academically). Recently our neighbor was asking how old he was and Jarin responds, "I know, you thought I was 6." She turned to me and said she thought he was about 8. Sweet Jarin. With Daddy being 6'5" and Mommy 6' "shortness" is not very likely.

We've been working on our back and front yard these days. We're working with a friend from church who is teaching us some masonry skills and how to lay concrete. Trust me, we are far from opening a "Bricks R Us" but I always enjoy learning new things. On a limited budget of time and money it'll probably take us several months to get things where we'd like them, but in the mean time we are enjoying the adventure.

Ammon is now 9 months old and is such a cute, fun, wiggly baby. Hard to believe that 6 months ago he was (or rather I was) struggling to help him through colic, but you would never know that today. He is a very smiley good natured baby. Of course, he has to be with 3 older siblings who love him! He's working on crawling. He's definitely got the backwards crawling down pat, but we can't quite figure out how to flip the forward switch. He surprised me a few evenings ago by standing up in the bathtub (AHHH!). Why is it as a first time parent that we are so excited and almost pushy about them standing and walking? I was perfectly ok with Hayden walking at 13 months instead of Jarin and Audrey's starting at 10 months. The way things are going though, looks like Ammon may be following the majority on this one.

Looking forward to it warming up out here. Amazing that living 30 minutes north now warrants 4 seasons. We even had more snow flurries this past Sunday. I know I'll be looking forward to the cool once it hits 100+ in a month or so, but until then, I miss the warmth. Hope you all are happy and healthy! Love, Jenolyn & family

Updates...

Good Morning!

Recently, my grandma asked me to send her an update on our family. I hope you don't mind that I'm now just going to cut and paste this here as well...Two birds and all. =

It has now been just over 7 months since we moved into our first home. Easy to remember since Ammon was 3 weeks at the time and he just turned 8 months old! We still have so many projects that we would like to tackle, but it definitely is a one thing a time sort of list. This weekend we will be putting up some cabinets in mommy's sewing area (yay!) and hopefully starting on the backyard. We plan on grading the back and laying down a little concrete over the next couple of weeks. Mostly to give the kids a better place to play and to hopefully prevent so much dirt from coming in the house! It's funny to hear Ash and Brennen talk about building a deck when we can barely get our front room painted but that's what happens when you've got 4 little ones at home!

Jason continues to serve as the ward YM president. This has been a newly discovered joy for him. For years he maintained the idea that he would dread serving with the youth, but he quickly learned to appreciate their enthusiasm for life and for the gospel. He has been a great asset to these young men who are looking for a strong, caring priesthood holder to be their friend and leader. He is still working hard to provide for our family and we are both so grateful that I don't need to work outside of our home.

Although the mounds of laundry and mess can be overwhelming, I am still so grateful to be a stay at home mother to our beautiful children. We have been blessed with some fabulously talented and kind people in our new ward who are now our friends. I've been taking a cooking class with our RS sisters (one of those monthly RS activities) and I love it! Like always, I enjoy learning new things but it is still a challenge to find that essential balance between what is good and what is needful. Sewing, photography, and even cleaning are all for naught if I'm not remembering to do those things that keep the spirit in our home. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who offers peace and forgiveness as we daily strive to be loving and obedient.

Jarin is almost done with his first year of school. It's hard to believe that our little baby boy is growing up so fast. Yesterday he said a beautiful prayer all on his own, asking Heavenly Father for help with something he has been struggling with. It brought gratitude to my heart that he really is hearing us and listening. Jarin is a loving, vivacious boy who loves playing with our two new puppies, Goldie and Penny. He is doing so well at school with reading and writing. I have seen a huge improvement in his penmanship and am constantly amazed at what he reads and remembers. He's trying to learn to ride a bike and throw a frisbee. He's recently discovered how to whistle and loves to help his younger brothers and sister.

Audrey is becoming more of a girly girl these days. Although she is still quite fond of digging in the dirt and playing in the mud, she now lets me put curlers in her hair on Sunday mornings and braid her hair. She loves her dance class and will readily teach Jarin and Hayden how to do the "strawberry shake." It is a crack up to hear her talk and sing to her dollies. She remembers her burp rags and changes her dolls clothes when "they need to take a nap, Mommy." Audrey loves to create things too (I wonder where she gets that??) One of her favorite activities is to sit on the ground next to me while I am sewing and "snip snip." She had even made a few simple dresses for Sleeping Beauty. Very high fashion, of course. She loves having Ammon sleep in her room and will talk sweetly to him in the morning before I have a chance to come get him. She still strongly believes that she will have a little sister some day so she will set things aside quite frequently for her "girl baby."

Hayden is a crack up. He makes the funniest faces! He is still very loving but is actively asserting his independence. =) He loves dinosaurs and crocodiles and carrying the smallest puppy, Penny, around like a doll. I have even seen him try to rock her to sleep when he thinks she's tired. We are now dabbling in the age of potty learning. Thankfully I have learned that it has a whole lot to do with a child's readiness and not a parent's will or convenience. Hayden enjoys exploring things. Bees, spiders, lizards, pill bugs, ants and of course, mud. He actually handed me a flying ant yesterday. I seem to remember doing the same thing as a kid.

Ammon is anxious to get up and go. You can really see the eagerness on his face and he rocks back and forth almost willing his knees to crawl. He's been scooting backwards on his tummy and then spinning to change directions. It's sort of like on those little wind of cars and go in all directions. He loves to try to new foods. He recent favorites are asparagus, steamed squash and potatoes. He's been doing this adorable squishy nose face; he wrinkles his nose and smiles, making a snorting sound at the same time. He loves his siblings, lights up when Daddy comes home, but all and all, is a big time mama's boy. Jason and I were pondering last night how interesting it is when each child is born to a family. They really do come in the order they do for a specific reason. Obviously it's hard to see that reason all the time, but little whisperings of the Spirit confirm it from time to time. Ammon was supposed to come now.

We continue to put our faith and our trust in the Lord and his will. We plead for understanding when His timing is different then ours, but we trust and hope that all things will work out.

We love you all very much!

Love,

Jenolyn, Jason, Jarin, Audrey, Hayden & Ammon

It snowed!

I know this may sound silly for those of you living in the regular snowy places like Utah, Minnesota, Colorado and all, but for us Californians, it's a novelty. Especially for my kids who haven't done the snow thing too often. We've had a few days of snow here and there, but this was the first time that it fell during the day. It was horribly stormy and pouring rain all week last week, making picking up Jarin from school rather delightful. The day Ammon turned 5 months he cut his first tooth and we had a nice layer of white. A few days later, on the Friday after, Stephanie and her 2 little ones came up and spent the night with us. James has been rather occupied with the storm. We had a fun time although Jarin and Sam couldn't quite understand why the muddy slush in the backyard wasn't quite like the fun white fluff we last saw when we went to Utah a few years back. I guess that means we'll need to take a trip to the mountains since we are in nice driving distance now a days.

5 months old tomorrow!

Sweet little Ammon will be 5 months old tomorrow. I can't believe how fast this is flying by. He is presently seriously working on his first two teeth. It feels like it's been several days now that we're saying, "Any day now...any day now." Seems like all of our kids have been that way. Definitely no surprise teeth popping out in our family. He is quite the rolly polly baby, but I think the chubby thighs and squishy cheeks are absolutely adorable. This month he has found his laugh. From very early he has been quite ticklish but lately he really gets a kick watching Jarin. Jarin loves his baby brother. Tonight at dinner he told all of us that Ammon was his favorite thing in the whole wide world. How cute is that.

Ultra Soft Tissue with Lotion Please

So the last few weeks have been a lot of fun. Jarin turned 5 on the 27th of October. The kids and I brought him chocolate cupcakes to his kindergarten class. While I was there, his teacher, Mrs Cannon, offered to do Jarin's parent teacher conference. She says that academically he's doing fabulous. This was really great to hear since we were concerned with him starting a month and a half later than everyone else that it was going to be hard for him to adjust, but not at all. Of course, he gets a little squirrelly from time to time, but what 5 year old doesn't? I'd be more concerned if she said he sits completely still in his seat every day and never talks to anyone else.

On the 31st, we celebrated Jarin's birthday with an all day party with lots of family and friends. Thanks to everyone who joined us. Sorry we made it a cold and flu party! That's right...within a few days, nearly every person who attended that get together is now sick. Thankfully it wasn't anything wrong with the food, just good ol' germs who love friendly people. Since then we've had a few trips to the doctor's office and are still trying to make our way through it. It's been a good 3 weeks of sickies and I am well ready to be past this. Maintaining my sanity with 4 children is hard enough without adding boogies, cough attacks, and fevers. I have however decided that no matter now much you save on cheaper tissues, having something soft to wipe your nose when wiping 100 + times a day with is completely worth the pennies or dollars more you spend.

Wow...it's been awhile hasn't it?

So...we are now in our first home. Not the one I mentioned in my last entry, but still... It's a beautiful home in Hesperia, CA and we are very happy to be here. My goal is to be unpacked by Christmas. I know that sounds funny especially for those of you who know how antsy Jason and I both are to be unpacked and settled already, but with a new baby and Jarin in school, it's taking us a lot longer than we expected!

Speaking of new baby...Ammon Spencer Christensen was born Aug 20th 2009 at 6:04 pm. He weighed 9 lbs 13 ounces and was 21 3/4" long. Our biggest baby so far and super cute. He's got strawberry blonde hair that loves to stand straight up and beautiful blue eyes. Just this week I had to take Jarin to the doctor for some asthma issues (he's doing just fine now) and I snuck Ammon on the scale. With a full diaper on and all his clothes he weighed 14.13 and that was just over 5 weeks old. I'm guessing he was really about 14lbs which is exactly what Hayden weighed at this same time. He's definitely fitting in size-wise!

We have been struggling with some colic issues though. Just about every day and most definitely every evening our sweet little guy has had some mean, mean, mean crying and screaming fits lasting nearly 3 hours at times. It's very challenging to maintain sanity and even the other kids are starting to cover their ears or walk to the other side of the house when it's happening. I'm really thankful this isn't our first baby or I might not have been so willing to have more! Don't get me wrong, we love him dearly and are so happy to have him in our family but we are all looking forward to being past this little bump in the road. It's interesting really...when he was first born, while we were living at my parent's house, I remember looking at him one evening and just had this amazingly strong feeling of love and gratitude for this sweet little boy. That feeling has helped me so many times when I have sat in the dark rocking Ammon and praying for the peace to help him find peace. I sit there and pray for understanding as to how I can help my baby, crying sometimes because I feel like I should know what to do to fix it...Mommies are supposed to know how to fix it...but I don't. All I know is that I love this baby and that he is supposed to be in our family and I trust that eventually "This too shall pass." So in the meantime, I find reasons to enjoy this time, kissing and hugging my cute squishy little boy. I can't help but melt when I hear his "Ah goo's" and definitely loving his sweet smile.

We're buying a house!!!

We are now in escrow for our very first home. We'll have been married for 7 years this July, so I think it's definitely time! I don't have pictures yet, but we are going up again on Saturday to take pictures and measure windows for blinds. We feel really happy and blessed. It's got great space for our growing family and fun potential for future family get-togethers.

Our new address will be
10933 Admiral's Bay
Victorville, CA 92392

We should close escrow the first part of July although we're hoping to close before 4th of July weekend. We'll see. In the mean time, we keep convincing ourselves to laugh since our stinky house seems to be trying to kick us out. Today, for example, I can't get the backyard sprinklers to turn off. I've canceled everything...even unplugged the sprinkler system...they just won't turn off. I first noticed they were on at 7:30 this morning and at 10:45 at night, they're still on. Of course I've called the property manager, but no response. It's a good thing we don't pay for water!

Pregnancy and stuff

I continue to have a normal healthy pregnancy. Our little boy appears to be growing well and on schedule. It's been really funny because even at just 24 weeks which I hit this past weekend, I can already see my stomach bouncing around. When I asked the doctor about it during my appointment a few days ago, he kindly told me that my muscles are thinner than what they used to be. Thinner, huh? I think that's a nice, fancy way of saying that I'm not in the super model beauty contestant state that I once was. HA! In the meantime, I figure I'm just taking on for the team.

Hayden was moved to a toddler bed a few days ago. We've been debating back and forth for some time about whether it was worth it the effort to keep him in a crib. He figured out several months ago how to climb out of his crib...several times over and over again on a bad night. So far, we're still working out the kinks, but it's helpful to remind myself that eventually we will figure this out.

Jarin continues to look more and more like a boy-child. He's so tall and handsome. His hair still shows the red tint, but not nearly as red as it was as a baby. He is now enjoying writing his name and reading short words that I write for him. It's fun to see his wheels turning as he works out the details

On the Hunt

For those who haven't heard, we are currently looking for a "new" home. We found out about a month ago that the people who own our house and all the stinky farm property, have gone bankrupt and are in danger of losing their lease. (It's a much longer story than that, but you get the idea.) So, with a baby on the way the end of August and Jarin ready to start kindergarten around the same time, we thought it would be wise to be proactive and find somewhere new to live. We're looking to move in the same general area we are in right now. Jason's office is in Rancho Cucamonga and his territory in Fontana so pretty much we're looking in the Ontario, Upland, Rancho, North Fontana area...for now. So far, we've seen a lot of houses, put bids on a few, but that's all. Part of the problem has been the huge number of bank-foreclosures on the market. The banks are looking for the secret highest bidder (of course they won't tell you what that magic number is) and you're left to guess how much to bid and how much work, if any, we would need to do to repair it. It's been a fun roller coaster. Marc and Erin are in the same fun house search we are and with their little guy due the same time as us, it'll be fun to see what happens! We're praying that the right thing happens and that we can understand the Lord's will for us and our family.

It's a boy!

We had our ultrasound today. I've been going back and forth about whether we're having a boy or a girl this time. There have been times that I've leaned both ways, but could never fully decide one way or another. Today during the ultrasound, the technician needed me to lay on my sides so she could she the baby better. It struck me funny since we had to do the same thing with Jarin at his ultrasound and then again with Hayden during delivery. I thought...how ironic this would be if this baby was a boy too?
Audrey's a little disappointed. At least she was at first. Jarin was almost jumping up and down at the idea of having a baby brother and Audrey was almost dragging her feet as we walked down the hall. She seems much better about it now, but she sure was bummed. "But Mommy, I want a girl baby." Maybe next time, we told her.
So, at the end of August, we look forward to welcoming the newest, handsome, member of the Christensen family.

Catch Up

So where do I begin. It has been a really a long time since I've had a moment to update everyone on our goings on. I honestly believed that once Christmas was past, things were going to slow down...and here we are in March! So much for that theory. In the mean time, Audrey has turned 3, Hayden is 19 months and Jarin is not quite 4 1/2. We're still living life on the stinky farm, grateful that some of our fun plumbing problems have be fixed (knock on wood) and the roof is holding. On a happy note, we are expecting our #4 baby due the end of August. We'll find out the end of this month whether it's a boy or a girl. Every once in awhile I muse over the idea of not finding out...but I like being prepared. I had my 14 week appointment yesterday and heard that beautiful little heartbeat thumping away. It's a sound that never gets old or boring; it still is so humbling and amazing that something so small is growing inside my womb. Jason is as busy as always and we're continuing our efforts to be debt free and ready for buying a home (soon!). Jarin will be registered for kindergarten this month which is so surreal since he's our first, but he's ready for the challenge. Audrey is still the princess fanatic and now she's got the outfits to match. It's nice she has a brother who enjoys playing the prince to her princess. Hayden is really starting to talk, although a lot of it is Hayden language, but it's so fun to see his enthusiasm to communicate. Of course, Hayden is still stuck being the dragon or the lion or the dog, but he doesn't mind. He just loves the idea of being chased. I hope that gives you a little bit of where are family is...and I'm going to work on not leaving so much time in between. Hugs to all!

Thoughts of the Day

I've really been getting a kick out of Hayden lately. We can really tell that he's paying attention to more and even better, trying to participate in a lot more. He babbles a lot already, but just today I felt like I was hearing real words. We've had fish for probably a year now, but it was like he just noticed our little female betta "Lola" today. "Iss, Iss, Iss" he kept repeating...which of course, means "fish." We saw himself on the camera and said "Den" and pointed to Audrey saying "Dee."

Jarin and I have been practicing for his part in the Primary Program. He has 2 parts actually. One is a summary of Nephi's experience building the boat and the second is quoting D&C 18:15. Amazingly enough he's got the scripture memorized already. He does such a good job and loves the attention when we applaud and congratulate him. I can't believe he'll be 4 next week. In some ways he looks like a 6 year old, but in other ways, he seems like he was just a baby.

Audrey has the funniest little cartoon voice and vocabulary. One of her favorite shows in the "Uppa San Chow." For those of you unfamiliar with this name, it's also called the "UpSide Down Show." One of her favorite parts of the show involves "action fing-ahs" (fingers) where your fingers come to life and solve problems and help people. In theme with this, Audrey will randomly call out "Let's call the action fing-ahs!" and her little hands go to work. It is really quite hilarious.

Thanks for enjoying our family updates!

Enjoy the Moment

I was so inspired by our recent General Conference. I felt that many of the talks were speaking to me personally and answered some of the concerns that Jason and I both have been carrying. Prior to conference I prayed that I would understand how to get through some of the challenges that we are experiencing right now. I know that we need to keep moving forward, have faith and trust in the Lord and everything will be right, but I was searching for help on how to make it through right now...today...when it can feel so overwhelming. I felt humbled and grateful as I listened to one talk after another answers those very questions. The one that impacted me the most was 3 simple words, "Enjoy the Moment." Isn't that so true! There is a great deal of worry and panic and fear going on in the world all around us, but there is also a great deal more to be excited and grateful for.

This thought is what inspired the 2nd half of pictures in the newest album above. I was preparing dinner...inside for just a few moments...I look outside and see that Hayden is covered in head to toe mud and Audrey and Jarin jumping in their newly created mud puddle. I took a breath and thought to myself. Remind you that I had just asked Jarin and Audrey not to play in the water. Again the phrase "Enjoy the Moment" comes to mind. Remembering I would have liked to have done (and did) the same thing as a child, I quickly finished putting dinner in the oven, grabbed my camera, and went outside. Yes, I did have to mop the floor as they ran to the bath tub when it was all done, but we had a good laugh and I got some great pictures of my beautiful children.

Enjoy the Moment!

Vote Yes on Prop 8

I know this may be silly since many of you live out of the state, but I just want to keep this in our minds. Like my mom keeps saying, give our children a chance. I just was reading somebody's response to a YouTube video by Newt Gingrich urging people to vote for prop 8. These people's response was negative. Asking, "What do you haters care, how does it affect you what I do in the privacy of my home?!" It makes me so sad because they obviously don't get it. Another one of Satan's designs to distract people from truth. Jason and I pray every day that people's hearts will be touched by the Spirit to know that marriage is sacred and can only be between a man a woman. I believe that we can win this thing. For our children and yours, we need to win this thing...

I HATE tomato worms

Ok seriously...I know that hate is a strong word, but I have no kind feelings to these little buggers. They already destroyed 1 plant almost over night and I'm determined not to let them win again. The past few days I have pulled off no less than 8 worms a day. Yikes! I have learned some odd little ways to spotting and disposing of them though. Indulge me to share them with you. Obviously the missing/holey leaves are a dead giveaway that you have a naughty worm at work. I've also learned to pay attention to the green worm droppings. These are generally just below the live worm munching away. With my first plant casualty, I didn't start looking for the worms until way too late. If you've got worm poop, trust me, you've got some big worms! If you get real close and if they're big and fat you can even hear them chewing. I know, gross, huh? They seem to prefer the new leaves the best at the end of the stem, but that's just me. They also hide at the bottom side of the leaf and along the stem. They can be real hard to spot since they're bright green to match the leaves, but they have this spikey little red "tail" and white "stripes" that break up their camouflage. This is most obvious in the big ones. When I first started pulling them off, I would try to grab them around their middles, but that's too squishy for me. I get a little weirded out by squishy, gooey green things. I then tried pulling them off by their heads, but no joke, it was like they tried to bite or something! So now, I prefer to pull them off by their red tails. Yes, you have to watch out for falling poop, but at least they don't ooze open or try to bite you. I drop them in a near by bucket and Jarin happily fills it up with water. Oh the fun of gardening. I tell you though, it's a great way to focus some frustration!

Ode to a crown...

While we were at Solvang last week, we went to a great little Taffy store. Knud Rasmussen was the owner. A funny little man who enjoyed singing "It's now or Never" again and again and again. Just as long as you called him "K-Nud" and not "nude." (I'm not making this up, I promise) Anyways, later back on the beach, I am enjoying a lovely peace of very soft, not sticky at all taffy, when my very expensive, recently installed dental crown comes out. I promptly put it back in my mouth and enjoy the rest of the week praying that it'll stay in its place long enough to get back to my dentist appointment the following week.

Fast forward to today the day of my dentist appointment. Here I'm anticipating a pretty short visit, right? Yeah...So, they do some xrays to make sure everything's still fine and prep my mouth to put it back in. The dentist picks up my crown. Wipes my stubby tooth to make sure it's dry and...drops my crown straight down my throat where I promptly gag and swallow it! And no matter how much I gag and cough it's not coming back up. It doesn't hurt or anything like that, but I have put in call to my doctor so I can get a chest xray to make sure it doesn't get wedged anywhere it's not supposed to. Thankfully it's not one of those stories where they dentist recommends that I sit on a bucket and bring the tooth back later! Though Jason was teasing that I should put it up on Ebay. Hmmm...I wonder how much I could get!

Here we go again...

This weekend all 3 kids started in with a little cold. No big deal. Jarin started Saturday afternoon, pretty much on the way to the Occleshaw's house to see baby Hanna. Too Cute! Audrey and Hayden late that night. By Sunday though Hayden started in with a little bit of wheezing... I almost feel like I could end it right there...Anyways, Sunday night was rough and by Monday morning he was not happy and not breathing well. I tried the steam bath, the cool moist air, but neither helped much. After we woke up from his nap he still was struggling even to just eat his banana. I made the decision to give him an asthma treatment. I continued 2 more times before Jason got home. I got in touch with his pediatrician who said I was doing the right thing. After the 3rd treatment, he was still struggling so after a blessing from Daddy, we both decided he needed some extra help. Although Urgent Care is often a dirty word to some, Hayden and I walked right in.
Dr. Lee was great and gave us very quick and very comprehensive care. They checked for pneumonia (NEGATIVE) just to be safe. Hayden was super brave and the x-ray tech even had to ask me to let him cry to better take the chest x-ray. It's always hard to see your little one in the hospital gown in a huge room and huge machinery and then with a breathing mask on again and again, but the words of the blessing came back again and again. I knew he would be safe and I felt strengthened by his peace.
So, they're not calling it asthma yet, but we've definitely got our boxing gloves on. I tell you though, I was much more calm and confident this time than I ever was in the beginning with Jarin and his asthma. One day and a time, right?

$10 Blessings

I may not have told everyone yet, but at the end of April I was pulled over. The officer originally pulled me over saying that my tags were expired, but someone had stolen it. However, as he was checking this out a few minutes later he came back and says, "Well yes, just take care of your registration and did you know you license is expired?" Flabbergasted I stammered that I didn't realize that and was shocked that nothing had come in the mail. Long story short, apparently, the DMV updated our address in the registration department, but not in the general address department. At least that's what the gal at the DMV said is what probably happened. So, anyway, I've been panicked for many weeks as to what would possibly happen. I've been reading online as much as I can and there isn't any exact information about fees or traffic school or whatever with for this type of thing so I was really nervous. Several things I found said like $300 minimum. Yikes!

So Jason and I said a prayer this morning and off I went. My mom was great and watched the 3 kids for me. There was probably close to 200 people there. When it was my turn, the judge asks me, "Did you renew your license...Yes...Can I see it?...Did you renew your tags?...Yes...Did you tell the DMV about your new address?....Yes...Do you have $1000?...Um...No. Oh I'd just thought I'd ask, you were giving so many yeses already. (Comedian judge) So, that'll be $10. When would you like to pay that?" Needless to say I was so grateful that the Lord saw fit to answer our prayer. One could ask, why go through that agony if only to come out just fine, but I think I'm realizing that if I would have know it would have been fine, I probably wouldn't have been as grateful or as prayerful. My faith grew too.

How does your garden grow?

We've begun the wonderful labor of love known as gardening. The kids and I really are enjoying the chance to be outside so much more. Thanks to our laundry room we can keep the mud tracking to a minimum. Hopefully! The only issue so far has been keeping the neighborhood "wuffies" out of the yard. They're super sweet little dogs and the mama is so gentle. Hayden loves it, but Jarin not so much and Audrey not at all. Well, she loves them at a distance, but no unauthorized licking allowed. Jarin likes them best when he has a hose in his hand so he can ward off any stragglers. It's a funny sight to say the least.

Bye, Bye Buggies!

Saturday I finally walked inside our "new" house. It has a lot of fun potential, but it has a lovely dairy smell to it. Several people from church have offered to help as well as brothers, brothers-n-law and brave parents. We are really grateful to the many who have offered help since it'll sure make it go by fast. We set off some bug bombs and left to go paint shopping. In the last 2 weeks we've been to 3 Lowe's and 3 Home Depots and been very successful finding "Oops Paint." Hey $5 per gallon is much better than $20-$30 per gallon! This way we get to incorporate some very fun colors too! We figured that since we have to paint we might as well make it exciting!

8-4-1

This weeks I made me return to the dentist office. I've been trying to go since before I was pregnant with Jarin. Long story short, I now need 8 fillings 4 crowns and 1 exciting root canal. They tried to do the root canal and 2 of the crowns this week on Thursday, but I had an infection some where that was very not happy so it's been postponed until next week. In the meantime I've got some penicillin that I'm working on to try to kill this infection off. Oh well, right?

It's Official...We're moving...Again!

So this morning we officially put in our notice with our apartment complex that we will be moving. Jason went to the house yesterday and took a bunch of pictures. We know we've got some cleaning up to do, but for $500 a month we don't mind at all. We found out that technically it's in Corona. Basically at the Chino and Corona border. We have until the 14th of June to be here, but I think we're hoping to move the 7th of June. That way we can stay away from Father's Day and my brother, Marc's, graduation. Move #10 here we come!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a very nice Mother's Day yesterday. Jason got up with the kids so I got another 20 minutes of sleep. Amazing what 20 minutes will do for you! Jarin & Audrey sang with the Primary children in church. Well, in all honestly, Audrey was only visible from her nose up and Jarin was very happy to jump up and down playing peek and boo, waving and shimmying with the kids standing next to him. Still, I felt the desire of their little hearts and that made me happy. Jason was very attentive, as always about what I would like as a gift. He gave me 3 pairs of new (non-maternity) jammies, pretty earrings, an ironing board cover ('cuz he heard me say that we could use a new one) and a fun game called "Whoonu." Game players beware...it's a fun one!

Here's what's new...

So last Sunday when we came home from church we realized that our upstairs neighbors we're having a party...again. This and a few other annoyances has prompted us to begin the search for a new place. This time we're hoping for something with a little more room and a yard of some kind. We've got a few leads now, but we're just praying that the right thing happens. In the mean time we're having fun where we are!

Jarin

He's how old?

Sweet Jarin is really growing lately. Last weekend when Jason's family was in town for Aunt Jenn & Uncle Donnie's new baby girl Hanna's baby blessing, we noticed that he's very similar in height to his 6 year old cousins, Dallin & Ryan. I'm glad that we live in California where the cut off date for kindergarten is Dec 1 because he sure would look out of place if he had to be held back an extra year. I've started setting aside time just about every day that he and I can work on things to get him ready for school next year. He's doing really well. He gets a little frustrated sometimes, but you can tell that's he's so excited when he learns a new skill. Jarin loves spelling his name. Just ask him, he'll spell it and now write it for you right away. We're so happy to see him happy about learning!

Big Helper

Jarin really likes helping. Washing dishes (playing with bubbles), watering the garden (wetting Audrey and making mud), putting his towel away after bath, fixing things with Daddy (luckily there are lots of those opportunities right now) and throwing away Hayden's diapers. I'm trying to find new things and new ways for him to help me. I know this wanting to help thing won't last too long so I'm grateful for this beginning desire to be helpful. If anyone has any ideas, I welcome them enthusiastically!

S-H-A-R-K

Lately we've been working on spelling things.  One of Jarin's favorite shows right now is "Word World" on PBS. He can spell SHARK, PIG, FROG, DOG, PIE and of course, JARIN. I just love the look on his face when we spells something right and we cheer him on. He's growing up so fast!

Audrey

Potty Learning

Not too long ago I read that potty training is really an inaccurate term. It should really be potty learning or toilet learning. I didn't quite understand what the difference was until trying this lovely stage of life with Jarin and now Audrey. Audrey loves her new underwear, her "unnies" as she calls them. Her favorite unnies being her Princess Cinner-elll-la unnies of course. We have had some successes which has been wonderful. However, I think the only really "training" that's going on right now is Mommy being trained to clean up wet spots on the carpet. One day at a time, right?

Kiss it Mommy...No Daddy Do it...No, my do it

Audrey has thoroughly discovered the word "My."  Particularly the phrase "my do it." Generally it's not the most laughable of phrases, but the other night I had to chuckle. She was getting ready for her nap and announced that she had an owie on her knee. "Oh, I'm sorry you have an owie, sweetie. Are you ok?" "Yeah, mommy. My ok. Mommy kiss it?" I lean in to kiss her knee which she promptly pulls back and says, "No, my kiss it." Then she proceeds to lather 5-10 kisses all over her leg and says "that's better." "Good Night, Audrey" "Nigh-night Mommy"

Sharing

Last night we were at Jason's parent's house celebrating Mother's Day. Uncle Jared had made everyone some homemade ice cream. Uncle Jordan convinced Audrey to share with him her Pineapple Ice Cream. (Yummy!) However, when her scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream came around and Uncle Jordan tried to convince her to share again she was determined to keep her cup well out of reach. She's no dummy!

It's My Princess

Miss Audrey is definitely a little girl. She loves pink and purple. Loves to wears hats and necklaces and dresses and is head over heels for anything to do with Princesses. Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Belle, a pig dressed up as a princess...it's all the same to her. She loves it. Jason and I find ourselves stifling a laugh almost daily as she prances around "mommying" her brothers and her baby dolls. Watch out world, here she comes!

Hayden

Peek a boo packrat

Hayden is a funny little boy. He has gotten to the point where he is noticing people more and will try to do things to get our attention. I do mean that in a good way! Lately he's become this major pack rat. He'll pick the oddest little things and carry them around the house for hours. Toothbrushes, a bubble wand, a doll umbrella, toy spatula, spoons (2 or more), the remote if he can catch it, phones, toy screwdriver... you get the idea. Well, I think it started yesterday he has taken to Audrey's blanket. This is Audrey's bane-tee, her absolute comfort object. The poor thing to started to get holes in it, it's that well used. Well, Hayden likes to put the blanket over his head and wander around the house like a little pink ghost. He thinks he's so funny! Of course Jarin and Audrey try to take it off of him to play peek a boo, but still he picks it back up and practically runs around all covered up this way. I keep telling myself that I should bring out the video camera because it's quite hilarious to watch!

Molars are no fun...

Sweet Hayden has been working on these molars for quite some time now. Yesterday I looked in his mouth and thought that I saw some piece of food or other small thing-a-ma-jiggy (which is really common for Hayden) so I stuck my finger in to get it out only to realize that it was a big piece of skin hanging down. Ouch! He really has been a good sport in spite of all this, but he's just not his same pleasant self. I'm hoping we can crank out all 4 and be done with it.

Weeeee!

Hayden has started this fun new thing where he throws his arms up in the air. Sort of like saying "blast off!" or going down a roller coaster. Too cute. I'll try to get a picture of him doing it. Still not walking, but he is sure cruising furniture like a pro. Right now we're praying that he can cut his top 2 molars. I'm sure glad I don't remember teething...

Hadey Wadey

Hayden's nickname (for now anyways) has evolved from Audrey's cute developing language. She calls Hayden "Hay-dee." Then again, my brother Marc is still lovingly called Mookie.  Did I say that out loud?  Hayden is a speedy crawler and especially loves to play "I'm gonna get you!" He's got a smile that'll melt your heart and is quite the cuddle bug. We're learning to vacuum much more often and keep the kitty food up high. However, teaching Hayden that the toilet is not his personal swimming pool might take a little longer.

The  Governor of California   is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.

A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor.

  1.  The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.

  2.  He calls  animal control .  Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.

  3.  He calls a veterinarian.  The vet collects the  dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.

  4.  The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.

  5.  The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.

  6.  The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.

  7.  The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

  8.  The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack.  The State spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re:  the nature of coyotes.

  9. PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the State.

 Montana :

The Governor of Montana is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.  A Coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.

  1. The Governor shoots the coyote with his State-issued pistol and keeps  jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP  hollow point cartridge.

  2. The Buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Montana is not.

The $50 lesson.

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.  She said she wanted to be President of the United States.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there. So I asked her, "If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people...

Her parents proudly beamed. "Wow...what a worthy goal."

I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. Tell you what - you can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. How about doing something wonderful like that?"

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Thought this might make you chuckle!

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In   Florida , an atheist created a case against  Easter and Passover Holy days.  He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days.  The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge.  After listening to  the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case?  The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others.  The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and  Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays..."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'  Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned..."      ; You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

All I need to know
I learned from the Easter Bunny!

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There's no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans.
Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.
To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.
May the joy of the season fill your heart.
Happy Easter!
Jelly Beans!

Jenolyn and Jason.  Thoroughly enjoyed the recent pictures, but I have forgotten where to comment.  I hope this is the way.  Just think.  You are sending a boy to school (Cute picture with his backpack) and dealing with a darling baby all in the same breath, not to mention your two other little dolls.  I know that the days blend one with another, but you know that when you look back you will have fond memories of your little ones gathered all around.  Love to all. Grandma and Grandpa Bell (the greatgrandparents)

Jen,  I love seeing all the family pictures. The kids look so very happy. Keep it up, whatever you and Jason are doing with parenting! It shows all over the kids' faces!  Great job raising happy kids!
And where did the names 'bedstemor & bedstefar', Jason's parents come from?
