Having always had an obsession with photography, I am more in love with capturing special moments than ever. I grew up in a family of photographers and I purchased my first 35mm SLR camera with high school graduation gift money when I was 18 years old. I have taken so many photos and video, that I legitimately earned my family’s nickname for me, “Mammarazzi”. I began “shooting” professionally little by little (since 1990) as various opportunities presented themselves until 2009 when I officially opened my full-time photography/video business as Jean Johnson Productions.
I have a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Interior Environments from Colorado State University. During college I worked in a graphic arts studio in learning the process of creating camera ready layouts for printing (all tediously done by hand then!). After graduation, I became an ASID certified Interior Designer and built a career in Commercial Interior Design and Space Planning. I've spent the last 27 years raising 3 children and focusing on the blessings of being a mom.
I hope that I can use my heart and my talent to help you capture special moments and tell your stories through still or moving photography in the way that best reflects your unique personality in your families and your business.
“The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer” ~Author Unknown.
“Jean Johnson quickly grasped the challenge of taking photos for Behind the Badge Foundation. “Ask first if you can take the officer’s photo; he or she may be undercover.” “We want the emotional impact from this memorial ceremony but still respect the privacy of the individuals grieving.” Jean listens to directions and discerns what is needed to achieve the desired results. She is artistic, intuitive, flexible, and has a way of relaxing even the toughest client. We’re thrilled to give her a call every time we have a need.”

“When I decided to work with Jean, my #1 goal was to create a photograph that brought out my personality. I was going to be using this photo on my business card and website and I wanted it to be approachable. As we began working together, Jean was very patient with me as I warmed up to the camera, discovering that I have a “better side”, and was very conscious about my clothing and hair. In the end, I had so many pictures to choose from that it was hard to make a choice. I highly recommend Jean as your next photographer, you’ll be happy you hired her.”

“I hired Jean Johnson to take our school portraits and class pictures this year. Jean suggested we take the photographs outside the school, and we enjoyed the creative change to traditional school portraits. Jean has a talent for finding just the right background. She also has a way of making children feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the lens. Even the children who are very shy and tentative were comfortable with her direction and warmed up to her quickly. Jean was prepared and organized with her orders for the families. The portraits were delivered on time and they were beautiful! Definitely not your typical quick shot school picture. Our parents were very pleased to have a professional such as Jean come to our school. I highly recommend Jean for your photography needs.”
~Ann Davis, School Director, Honey Bear Tree Learning Center
“We hired Jean Johnson to take family photographs. They were excellent in quality. The results of her photos are as follows: a family calendar for 3 families, three photos turned into canvas prints. Jean was on time and her choice of venue covered our four families completely. All 10 members of the family were extremely happy with the results.”
~Ken and Paula Kunkel, Irvine, California
“Getting the right photographer for headshots is very important. Jean Johnson pays attention to the needs of the client and takes time to find out about her sitter and make them feel comfortable. She is reassuring and kind and really listens. The results show in the amazing photos she takes. She seems to find the real person behind the smile and that makes the photos so much better.”
"Jean's work is extremely high quality, but what sets her apart is how personable she is and how and accommodating and patient she can be in order to make sure that you absolutely love your photos!"
"Jean is a great photographer, of course--she knows her tools and uses them well, whether it is the set of cameras and lenses or the computer software to touch up details where you might not be at your 100% best. She knows how to find just the right setting for your photo, and often suggests improvements or new locales to make you shine.
She is quick and efficient, and does what she says she'll do, usually in less time than quoted. She's dedicated to her craft, and the results show the keenness of her skills.
I had hired Jean to do some headshots for my business; she quoted a lower price than others, and got me the results quickly. She worked with me to produce results for various formats--print and online--and I was impressed with her knowledge not just of the photography business but also the business of personal representation and image management.
I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for quality photography and video."

"Jean is a talented photographer who is energetic and creative. She has a sensitivity for the people and situations she is photographing and her ability to capture the emotions of the event is commendable. She is also extremely trustworthy, kind and fair. I would recommend her highly!"
