Welcome to AWANA at Jerusalem Baptist Church! The name AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. This site is the place to find all of the important information that you will need to stay up-to-date with all the happenings at AWANA.
The new AWANA year 2011-2012 will begin on Wednesday September 14th. Join us at 6:15pm as we kick-off the year together!
Bill & Judi Bianco are our regional Awana Missionaries. Their role is to introduce Awana to new churches, support existing churches with Awana, and coordinate the regional Awana activities including Basic Training, Commander College, Ministry Conference, Bible Quiz, Sparks-a-Rama, and AwanaGames for churches in the Maryland, DC, and Northern VA region.
Their commitment to the ministry has been a huge blessing to our Jerusalem Baptist Church Awana as well as myself as a commander.
They raise 100% of their own support. To meet their budget, they need to raise about an additional $2,400 a month.
I am challenging our Sparks, T&T Boys, & T&T Girls from February 1st – March 28th to raise money for a one time offering. The club that raises the most money will get to have an ice cream social with our Awana missionary Mr. Bill.
If you would like to give a onetime donation or become a monthly supporter of Bill & Judi Bianco please visit their website at www.awanamd.org and press the Donate Now button. All donations given through their website are tax deductable.
If you have any questions or concerns please give me (Miss Erin) a call at 703-278-8166.
Next Summer JBC is going to Centri-Kid Camp at Skycroft Conference Center in Middletown, MD July 16th – 20th, and we’re inviting YOU!!!
Centri-Kid is a children's program that is designed to reach children with the message of Jesus Christ through every camp activity. Children who have completed 3rd through the 6th grade will enjoy a week of creative Bible study, exciting recreation, great worship, quiet times, and church group devotions, all designed to present the basic foundations of the Christian life.
Fellowship meals will be served every Wednesday that Awana meets. They begin at 5:30pm. The cost is by donation and all proceeds will go to the NehemiahProject...Building for the 21st Century.
A menu (that is subject to change) and a sign up sheet will be posted by the kitchen every Sunday. All reservations must be made by Monday Night. You can either sign up on the sheet or you can email Vanessa de la Pena at vsdlp@aol.com. If you do not make a reservation there is no guarantee of a meal, but it is possible that food might be available
For more than three decades, FamilyLife has been helping couples understand God’s design for relationship in a whole new way. The Art of Marriage, a new video-based marriage conference, is built on the same biblically based content as the Weekend to Remember Getaway.
JBC will be hosting The Art of Marriage conference on Friday, March 25th & Saturday, March 26th. Cost is $50/couple. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 16th. For more information pick up a brochure from the Information Boards or contact Jonathan at 919-602-7628.
Concurrent with the marriage confence will be a conference for kids K-6 grade!
Dinosaurs By Design
Kids will learn that God created animals, including dinosaurs, on day 6 of the creation week. But did these “terrible lizards” actually roam the earth with Adam? Did T. Rex dine on fruits and veggies? Could dinosaurs have actually fit on the Ark? We will explore these questions and more!
The Children’s Conference is only available to children who’s parents are attending the Art of Marriage conference and is offered at no additional charge.
Child Care for birth to 4 years is offered at no additional charge.
