Breakfast
When Heather and I stayed over at the house the night before the washer and dryer came, I made a special breakfast.

More breakfast
I remembered oatmeal, bowls, and the teakettle, but not spoons.

Even more breakfast
Also, I forgot the mugs.

Washer and dryer.
This was the morning we got them. I was euphoric.

Washer, dryer, and my back.
What can I say? I have a long torso.

Washer and dryer
Seriously, I could look at pictures of me with our washer and dryer all day.

Last supper
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Finishing dinner.
As God as my witness, I will never sit on the floor of a poorly A/Ced apartment again, watching Robbie slice watermelon.

Taking apart our bookshelves.
Unflattering yes, but someone had to do it.

Apartment bedroom
This was a problem when we tried to sleep.

Apartment living room
We made Heather and Matt sleep in here. You can't tell, but you could have fried an egg on our floor. They slept poorly.

Apartment living room
The furniture in the back looks innocent, but the next day it trapped Matt for 15 minutes.

Matt and futon
Oh, and Heather.

Matt and futon, again.
Heather and I had carried a whole lot of boxes that day.

Van
This was the clown car of moving vans. Except that it would have held two clowns at most.

Robbie laughing at Matt
A fun pastime, back to our SB days, is to get Matt to do something hard that you can't do yourself and then mock him.

Moving van
I believe this was trip #2

Quilt rack
I polyurethaned that myself.

Matt
No one has ever deserved a nap more than Matt did on Saturday evening.

Heather and Matt
They actually looked even cuter before I took this photo.

Me, in living room
Yeah, I don't know.

Mulberry scone
When I think back to July 2005, all I'll remember is having a mulberry scone every blessed morning for breakfast.

Matt
Matt in repose.

Me in kitchen
And here I am, tarting it up in the kitchen.

Bruises
I was pretty proud of all my bruises.

Living room
Matt pretty much single-handedly made our living room bearable.

Robbie in Vonage hat
Woo-hoo, hoo-hoo-hoo.

Me in Vonage hat
Heather also has this tank top. We were dead sexy.

Front of house
The house. From the front.

Side of house and backyard
The driveway is lurking just below this photo.

Other side of house and backyard
This is the view from the kitchen door, more or less.

Painting the bedroom
Notice the paint swatch. I read my Martha Stewart.

Taping the bedroom
Robbie was the only one tall enough to do the high stuff.

More taping the bedroom
Pretty much what it looks like.

Painting the bedroom
Finally, actual application of paint.

More painting the bedroom
Robbie was really good at this.

Bedroom painting
There were places we had to caulk, so the painting proceeded irregularly.

Bedroom floor
This is where we slept until we bought our new bed.

Bedroom
This is our new slat bed, the finest (OK, cheapest) Ikea had to offer.

Bedroom
Bedroom from the door

Guest bedroom taping.
Robbie was taping the doorway. I think this is artistic.

Guest bedroom painting.
I did the outlet covers. I had a whole technique and everything.

More guest bedroom
Robbie really hates these ceiling fans. He calls them death blades.

Even more guest bedroom
Nothing but the best for all of you, that's why it took so long.

Guest bedroom
Look how plush! You'll come, won't you?

Guest bedroom
These boxes will be removed before you come visit.

Bookshelves
They are waiting to dry a little more before being filled with books.

Bookshelves from side
They're really tall.

Extra bedroom
It was kind of tidy at this point, because the boxes were still sealed.

Extra bedroom
All the bedrooms looked like this before painting and de-carpeting.

Extra bedroom
Plus paint, minus carpet. The desk in the corner is leaving.

New desk
This is the corner of the extra bedroom.

Corner of bedroom
I was trying to take a picture that would show the color. This is the closest I got.

Yellow curtains
I like these better than the blue shades, although they need to be hemmed.

Yellow curtains, other window
These curtains were in the living room in our apartment.

Bathroom
This is our bathroom.

Upstairs bathroom
Newly painted.

Carpeted stairs
I had just started to roll the carpet up from the bottom.

Half-carpet, half-pad
If this had been the first carpet I did, it would have been the last.

Wood stairs
Better, but still not good.

Staircase
The fronts need to be painted too.

Half done
Half of these are stained and polyurethaned.

Robbie upstairs.
We almost wanted to leave them alternating light and dark.

Stairs from top
This makes them look really good. Possibly better than they actually are.

Finished stairs
Stairs with books can be used. The others are drying.

Painted stair fronts
Fronts are painted, baseboards aren't yet.

Painted stair fronts, view two
Further up the stairs.

Painting the living room
Again, swatches.

Painted living room
The finished, empty room.

More painted living room
Oooo.

Living room
It seemed bigger without all our things in it.

Living room
Still with some boxes, but a big improvement

Living room
With Robbie enjoying breakfast.

New sofa
Nice, no?

Dining room
It wasn't too functional at this point.

Dining room
With our old, small table.

Dining room
With test swatch of paint.

Finished dining room
Yeah. It's pink. I like it, though.

Dining room
That's all silverware on the table. Seriously.

More dining room
Note the glass-front cabinet, in which our china now resides.

Dining room into kitchen
Another view.

Kitchen
Some of this will probably go to the dining room.

Kitchen
Stove and refrigerator are to the right, just out of frame.

Prepping the kitchen
Everything went into the dining room.

Taped kitchen
There was a lot to tape.

Taped kitchen, part two
Another view of the kitchen.

Brought to you by the number 6
We found this under the fridge. This was the sixth room we painted.

R + J
This is behind the fridge. Hopefully someone will be amused by it someday.

Painted kitchen
This is from the door to outside.

Painted kitchen, flash
This is the color if the flash goes off.

Painted kitchen, no flash
And this is the color if it doesn't.

Downstairs bathroom
It's small, and thus hard to photograph.

Downstairs bathroom again
The mirror makes it look bigger.
