The Cast

Joseph
Joseph

Joseph

Species: raccoon

Height: 5' 11"

Origin: southern California

Me.  I've lived in the south west all my life. That explains my stranger than normal raccoon looks.  Hard, thorn like fur on my face and arms cause me to like a furry lizard. Living in such a climate, even mammals are not much of after a while.

I do some medical work but only if I'm needed.  I like to collect things, car models, swords, military items.  I like working and so I keep myself busy with arts.  Also like building things.  I enjoy venturing out into the deserts in search of anything, objects to creatures or to photograph whatever interests me.

Frill and I play often, he's like a helpful sidekick when ever I need him.  In all honesty, we're like brothers.

I own some pets, my main ones being Grendolin and Megasis.

Hobbies: Art, autos, cooking, exploring

Laura Penelope Coonet
Laura Penelope Coonet

Laura Penelope Coonet

Age: 22

Height:5' 8"

Origin: unknown

Laura's a very nice girl,  in Ryan's words a "southern charm".  Toward me she likes to tease. But in all, she has a touch to her teasing thats enjoyable.  Rather fun to be around.  She's overall a friendly person.

She is not a desert person, as she suffered a bit through the desert's heat.  Being new to the area she'll probably be in some shock to see some of the desert dwellers.

Hobbies:  Clothe making, getting together with friends, book reading to children

Sibra Ann Husky
Sibra Ann Husky

Sarah Husky

Age: 38

Height: 5'8"

State of Orgin: Montana

My mom.  Well not exactly but I stay with her all the time.  Me and Husky met when I was 3.  We met simply by meeting eachother and fell in love instantly.  She's very sweet and good to me and always has been there.

She is VERY MOTHERLY, the definition of it, escpecially when it comes to little kids.  She's well loved by many.  She isn't married or has ever been or wants to be. I'm glad, I like it being simple and she likes it this way too.  She really enjoys family time, so she gets a little nervous when I don't get home.  But I love her very much and she loves me.

Hobbies:

famliy time,

having some of her friends come over to the house,

house projects,

clothe making,

CARS "her favorite passtime",

making sure Grendolin doesn't tear up the house,

 "she's multi-talented person"

Susan Fennic
Susan Fennic

Susan Fennic

Age: 38

Height: 4' 9"

Species: Fennic Fox

Origin: southern California

Susan is like an aunt to me.  Her and Sarah are like sisters. They met when Sarah moved here and work together as homedisgners. Susan work more in outdoor design.  Susan is very small, around 5'.  This just adds to her cuteness.

She is very loveable. Very good to me and spends time with me whenever possible. She never seems out of energy, always up and about.  Love making clothes.

Hobbies: making clothes, gardening

Philip Fox
Philip Fox

Philip Fox

Age:20

Height:5' 9"

Species: Coyote-fox mix

Origin: Nevada

My friend Philip.  We've been friends since we were young.  He's very outgoing and talkitive.  Though sometimes lazy.  He likes to be the jokester and get people laughing, even at his own expence. He's likes testing the foods I make. He's likeable and harmless. He loves Sarah like a mother, so he often mooches, but Sarah loves him too.

Hobbies: fooling around, anything that catches his interest, Mooching

Fears: snakes

Till and Frill
Till and Frill

Till and Frill

Age: 22 and 8

Height: 5'11" and 3'

Species: Horned Frill lizard

Origin: southern desert

Gender: male

They live next door.

Till:

Till is a friend of mine.  He lives with his younger brother Frill.  We met when he moved in next door.

Till is a bit proper sometimes coming off as strict but once you get to know him, he's a good friend.  Unfortunatly I can recieve his tougher side understandably, when our pets get in his yard. He dosen't like Grendolin and he and Grendol poke at eachother. But overall, he's a good sport and often comes over on the weekends for games.

Hobbies: games, sports

Frill:

Frill is a good kid. Well mannered, polite, and trustworthy.  I first got to know Frill when Till brought him to me to stitch a tear on one of his frills.

He's playful and energetic as any child. Him and Grendolin get along quite well.  Frill often plays with Grendolin. He's probably the only child not afraid of Megasis.  Sarah often babysat him when his brother was at work so we know eachother well.  Since Till's job takes him out town, Frill stays with me.  Frill calls me his brother away from home.

Hobbies: video games,  playing with Grendol, playing with his older brother

Ryan Foxson
Ryan Foxson

Ryan Foxson

Age: 25

Origin: Southern California

I've known Ryan for good while now, a good friend.  We can't help but pick on eachother.  He's got good competive nature that helps push me to seceed.  Sometime I can't help but hate him.  But in all honesty, I don't trust anyone as much as him.  Good when you put him to work and can find out anything.

Hobbies: Hanging around friends, games(board games, cards, ect)

Grendolin
Grendolin

Grendolin (Grendol)

age: unknown

origin: unknown

species: unknown

gender: male

Height: 3'5" on all fours

Grendolin is my pet.

We don't know what Grendol is. Till, Philip, and Ryan call him a gremlin,(Till calls him a nasty little gremlin).  Sarah calls him a StormHound because of his markings. He some kind of hound. Rather sinister in appearance.

Grendolin likes run around and play.  Since he is,,,well whatever he is, he often finds zero challenge in conventional games. So we modify games to suit him and his special needs.  He is extremely fast and strong.  He has super strong toys since he destroys normal toys.

On top of his super strength and speed, he is a firebreather.  Other abilities yet to discovered.

He's also quite smart.  He dosen't like Till for some reason, so Grendol annoys him.  Still, he can show a gentle side.

He likes Frill, Till's younger brother.  He plays with Frill.  He can lounge around and can be pleasant.

(Given the right precautions, he's harmless, well mostly)

Megasis
Megasis
Megasis (The Old Girl)
Age: 180-210 exact age unknown
Origin: desert canyons
Height: 7 Ft. to top of head
Species: Desert Empress Spider
Gender: female
Lives in a burrow in the back yard.

Personality: Calm, quiet, reserved, stern,

This retired war machine is one of my closest friends.  She is extraordinarily tough and won't back down from any fight.  As a matter of fact, she'll love to fight anyone looking for a fight. Though a stern, regal, no nonsense personality she can be playful.  She doesn't like getting wet or pranked.  She will not stand by and watch bad behavior, this and being a centuries long war veteran has landed her jobs as a security guard at various locations.  For a while we could not figure out her age, but with a bit of digging we found a few her records, even though she slipped in and out of history, we roughed out her age at around 180-210 years old. For the most part, her past is a mystery.

She is reserved toward strangers, but isn't shy of them. You can win her heart a bit with fruits, melons are her favorite.
Toward us though, she very kind and loving.

Her hobbies are few; sunning herself, and walking. She does get invited to the Emperor Spider Invitational competitions and to military parades. Frill and I use her for a horse when we can.  Her super jumping and wall crawling make for an interesting ride.

DOZER
DOZER

Dozer

Age: ?

Height: 3' on all fours

Species: was a cat

Dozer is our guard cat. He was found heavily injured when we found him (possibly hit by a car).  I performed the best medical work I could do.  He didn't wind up looking much like a cat afterwards.  He's quite a brute, very strong, hence his name Dozer.  He is VERY LARGE for a cat, he's as large as a large dog.

He is rather docile despite his mean appearance, but poke at him and he will get mean.  He stays outside most of the time.  He's a bit distructive without trying.

Thorn
Thorn

Thorn

Age: unknown

Origin: probably from around the neighborhood

Species: (was) cat

Sarah's pet.  Thorn is also a medical creation.  Like Dozer, he was heavily injured when we found him.  We assume he is a younger cat because of his size, and his imence curiosty.  He is playful and overall acts like any ol' cat.

Heather Roo
Heather Roo

Heather Roo

Age: 23

Origin: southern California

Heather is Luara's best friend. Heather is the first friend Laura made in California, she also lives a few houses down from her.  She's kind of clumsy when trying to "walk", hopping in close quarters is also tricky for her.  Perhaps used to more open spaces.  She's a shy woman, but sincere and polite.

Emily Coyote and Tiger
Emily Coyote and Tiger

From Joseph's point of view:

Emily Coyote

Age:21   Home: Southern California

Emily is a close friend of mine. She very friendly and gets along with many people.  She very good with kids and babysits often.  She is very motherly and very matured.  She can annoy some kids though as I saw by being so motherly.  But that depends on the kids.

(Emily's View)

Tiger:

Age: 4   Home: A few houses from mine

I've been babysitting Tiger sence he was 2 when his family moved in.  He's a very energetic boy when he's happy.  He also well behaved.  I love him very much.  He enjoys running around and videogames, candy is a favorite thing.  Laura seems to like him, I can always use help babysitting, as I have other kids to baby sit.

Breeds

Steren
Steren
Breed: Steren
Height: 6'
Behavior: extremely complex and intelligent
Rarity: extreme
Physical Description: Thin, dress cloaked humanoids that have a helmet like head with varied facial set ups and horns.

Steren are one the most mysterious creatures in the land.  None have ever been captured or brought down.  They can figure out any trap in their way and are believed to be extremely intellegent.  None have ever shown any sort of aggressive behavior, or any expression for that matter.  They have never been known to lose their stride in even the most severe situations.

Steren never exhibit any physical dexterity, they seem capable of standing and walking a few steps before hovering on to their destination.  They seem to use telekenesis move things and stop oncoming attacks from other breeds.

Steren are rival to the Diobos.  They rival the Diobos in opposites, the Diobos are all physical as the Steren are cerebral.

The facial design is mystery as well. It is unknown whether that what you see is indeed an eye, or a helmet concealing a head and true face.  People can only speculate.

Desert Emporer Spider
Desert Emporer Spider

Desert Emperor/Empress Spider
Height: 7-10 feet from floor to top of head, 11-16 head to tail
Weight: 300-700 Lbs.
Lifespan: 400-700 years
Behavior: Extremely complex
Rare
Physical Description: Tall spiders that mysteriously vary from 6 to 8 legs. Tan to brown with varying red markings.  Two limbs extend from it's back and are used like arm as well to front two legs.  Eye colors vary as well. Males have a V shaped hood as seen on the right.

These creatures, though not the rarest, are the most complex.  They exhibit a full range of moods and feelings and  communications. The only standard behavior is laying in the sun, even on the hottest of days.

Once feared by early settlers (earning the name "Devil's Horse") they are revered for their power, speed, and intelligence.  They are tough, stern, fearless, stealth, and are extremely intelligent, many where used for military service before modern machinery (also earning them the name War Horses).  Many still are employed in service were machines can't go.

Keeping one as a companion is not so much a choice by the recipient but the Spider's.  You may choose to keep it or not though, if not it'll move on back to the desert or find another person.  If you choose to befriend one, it'll love you forever. They are kind and gentle and will protect you at all costs.  Caring for one varies from Spider to Spider. Personalities vary so you never know.

Diobos
Diobos
Breed: Diobos
Height:6'0 to 7'5'
Behavior: Intelligent, aggressive, headstrong
Rarity: rare
Physical Description: Centaur like creatures, muscular build, very strong

The Diobis are strong, tough, and powerful. If you do run into one in the wild, it'll either boast it's power to impress you or run you off. They can attack if they feel like it, but rarely kill their prey in order to assert itself as a leader. They can be reasoned with, but they are headstrong and may not care. They are very proud creatures, often looking for fights to prove itself in. If you manage to beat one, it will be loyal to you.

They are rivals to the Desert Emporers and the Steren.

Axe Handle Hound
Axe Handle Hound
Breed: Axe Handle Hound
Height: 3' 5" to 4'
Behavior: semi intelligent, noble
Rarity: rare
Physical Description: A canine like animal with a color but sharp axe blade like fixture on it's head. Colors vary.

Axe Handle Hounds are related to the Blade Wolf but look much better. They are bold and noble creatures. Unlike most canines, Axe Handles operate in very small packs, often in 3 to 5 hounds per group, or completely alone. They operate very quickly and cleanly using their axe like head as a weapon. Often fancied as pets, they only hold respect for an owner who has been an adventurer or has fought it and brought it home. Simply buying one doesn't guarantee a loyal pet.

Grub Hound
Grub Hound
Grub Hound

Height: 3'-3'6"
Weight: 80-120 lbs
Lifespan: 20 yrs.
Behavior: semi-intelligent to aggressive
Uncommon

These heavily build creatures are Grub Hounds. Mean and aggressive, they will never leave a fight until it's finished.  They are extraordinarily tough, their thick skin, muscular build, and steel like skeleton mean you'll most likely never take one down.
They lack the will to bite though, perhaps the problem lays within the fact there teeth are outside their mouth and sideways. The uglier they are the prouder they are, it's a sign of status for them. This ugliness has made them prime as guard dogs.

When trained (which is quite dangerous unless from pups) they are quite loyal and lovable.

Serpen Bat
Serpen Bat
Breed: Serpen Bat
Height: 2'5" to 3' 6"
Behavior: semi-intelligent; curious, child like
Rarity: very uncommon-semi rare
Physical Description: A child like bats that lacks wings and have snakes that sprout from it's back and act as it's defense. One snake as a tail. The snakes are active.

Serpen Bats are quite strange. Thought bats, they don't have wings nor bite very much. The snakes that mysteriously grow from their backs do bite and are their main defense mechanism. They are not very nocturnal either, though they favor the night, they can be found during the day. They eat fruits and eggs. They are very curious and can easily lured into your range with shiny objects or food. They are very child like, making tamed ones ideal for children to play with. Once tamed, they are quite fun to own.

Fallfire Ram
Fallfire Ram
Breed: Fallfire Ram aka Bleeding Ram
Height:3'0"-4'5"
Behavior: Aggressive to semi-intelligent
Rarity: uncommon
Physical Description: A ram with 4 horns, sandy to golden coat with red fire like patterns

The Fallfire Ram is a bit of an icon in the valley itself, but not in the outlying lands. Tough and headstrong, they are either eating what ever they see or proving how tough they are. They are quite fond to stealing something in your possession, usually to eat it, many a back pocket wallets go missing this way. They are quite beautiful and overgrown wool make as a wonderful usable product.

Pharaoh Tortoise
Pharaoh Tortoise
Pharaoh Tortoise

Height: 3" to 3' 6"
Weight: 2-400 lbs
Lifespan: 130 yrs.
Behavior: simple
Uncommon

The Pharaoh Tortoise is a well known creature.  A bit more uncommon in the wild but it can be found in pet stores, thus keeping it's populous stable. They are favorited among children who find their shape fascinating and for the ease of care. The tortoise' personality is simple, sits in place protected by it's shell and wanders around in search of vegetation for food.  With age it grows to massive portions.

Flower Bird
Flower Bird
Breed: Flower Bird, Flower Hen
Height: 10-13 inches
Behavior: Simple
Common
Physical Description: Chicken like birds with greenish, leaf like feather and a flower like plumage on their head.

These birds sit in place posing as flowers to attract insects.  As an insect is lured in the Flower Bird quickly attack and swallow their meal.  When frighted they either run or retract the flower pedals on their head and pose as brush with flower buds.  These simple creatures are often kept as pets and provide eggs.  Head plumage ranges from red to yellow to rarer blue.

Desert Emperor Spider
Desert Emperor Spider
Desert Emperor/Empress Spider
Height: 7-10 feet from floor to top of head, 11-16 head to tail
Weight: 300-700 Lbs.
Lifespan: 400-700 years
Behavior: Extremely complex
Rare
Physical Description: Tall spiders that mysteriously vary from 6 to 8 legs. Tan to brown with varying red markings.  Two limbs extend from it's back and are used like arm as well to front two legs.  Eye colors vary as well.

These creatures, though not the rarest, are the most complex.  They exhibit a full range of moods and feelings and  communications. The only standard behavior is laying in the sun, even on the hottest of days.

Drones SD2-4 and SDX-9
Drones SD2-4 and SDX-9
SD2-4

heightxlength: 1' 4"x 1' 8"
weight: 40lbs.
lifespan: depends on upkeep
behavior: program based

This hovering insectile is a more common service drone. Most are programmed to be strict and to the point and are at ready to put up a fight if theft occurs.  Others are more customer friendly.  Service is quick, it bombards you with yes/no questions about why or what you are shopping for, it then guides you to your destination.
Often works in association with the SDX-9.

SDX-9

heightxlength: 1' 4"x 1' 8"
weight: 40lbs.
lifespan: depends on upkeep
behavior: strict to aggressive

This is a secondary to SD2-4 but built as a security drone.  It can fly faster and is more agile than it's counterpart. It can be fitted with weapons in ultrahigh security.  The more common ones can fight but are only fitted with tranquilizer darts and ram in to people.  They are very strict and but only begin a fight when attacked or witness a fight.

RMP-45 Rolling Pyramid
RMP-45 Rolling Pyramid
RMP-45 Rolling Pyramid

DRC-15 Shambler
DRC-15 Shambler
DRC-15 "Shambler"
Purpose: off road

The Shambler's are built for off roading the roughest places.  Two large, powered front wheels allows one to roll up and over obstacles. The front wheels can operate in sync or independently. The Shambler is 4WD.
The front wheels, it's great ground clearance, and suspension type make it the vehicle for off roading.

Lands

Negative Lands
Negative Lands
The Land Negative
Elevation: far below sea level
Location: South of the city

The Negative lands are some of the lowest lying lands in the world.  This hellish land supports fantastic creatures and awe inspiring landscapes.  Most of the ground is reddish in color, you'd believe you were on another planet.  Geological forces pushed magma up creating the pointed spire mountains that dot the land.  Wind can randomly gust up kicking up the dirt causing the red skies.  The skies are rarely blue around these parts and nights (if you dare stay) offer a spectacle of a view .

Due to the interest in the area, small safari groups make tours for newcomers to safely venture around.  Coming alone is not safe so if you come, bring someone.

The two left ones I made almost all by myself. My mom did the faces though. I cut and sewed everything on the left one. Each one made with nothing more than 97 cent textiles. The design is getting better as are my sewing skills. I will learn how the make the faces soon.

My two Mediterranean House Geckos.  Found the one on the left two days before the one on the right.  Both were in the backyard and with birds and cats they might get eaten so we rounded them up.  They seem to enjoy their habitat and the female (right) even laid 2 eggs!  In this picture you can tell she has eggs.

Often at objects that land in his cage.  He doesn't crow like most roosters, just a really loud bellow.  His comb is flopped over due to its size.

Hawk Eye: Bad eye left, good eye right
Hawk Eye: Bad eye left, good eye right
This is Hawk Eye a Eurasian Collared Dove.  We got him February 27.  He was attacked by a hawk in the yard and the hawk didn't finish him.  We thought that he was going do die with in the hour and when he survived till the night I was hoping he would die.

He had a hole in his food crop (He was leaking food out of his stomach), a cut eye, bleeding, and possible neck trauma (He kept twitching his head side to side)  His panic attacks made the little hope I had go away because the fluttering could kill him and he could tear his chest open.  The second day he had a major improvement, he was up and moving and eating.  His crop sealed up and that was great considering only one other bird ever survived that.

His eye was leaking on day one, internal eye fluid I assume.  He kept it closed for a month and then opened it.  He still has an eye, just a dried up shell.

May 12. He is happy and singing a lot.  He's settled down and doesn't panic much.  Clean too, much cleaner than our tamed birds.

Hans Glaser's "Battle Over Nuremburg"
Hans Glaser's "Battle Over Nuremburg"
2011-11-10

A practice session I did. Zorokra [link] came up with an idea to recreate an image in order to learn how it was done, and gain some skills. So I choose this one in order to learn the simplistic medieval style. This one is quite simple, as is the real image, so I like, I can't believe how well the sun came out, I've been trying to makes suns like that forever. Since the image is quite simple, measuring strategies work quite well. It is Photoshop.

Re: Recipes

Seafood Pasta

Ingredients:

1 lb pasta (any type)

7-12 green onions

2 tsp. minced garlic

1 lb. scallops

1/2 lb. shrimp

2-3 tbls. sherry

1 bayleaf

1 1/2 tsp. thyme

1 tsp. black pepper

2 tsp. cornstarch

Intruction:

1. Start with boiling water for pasta. Cook pasta and leave ready.

2. In wok, heat oil and minced garlic, chop green onion and start cooking in garlic oil mix.

3. Mix in scallops, shrimp, sherry, thyme, bayleaf, and let simmer until all items are cooked, around 3-6 minutes. DON'T over cook. Shrimp and scallops will turn to rubber. If you like scallops add more if you like, scallops shrink, A LOT.

4.  Add in pepper and salt to taste.

5. Stain food out food and SAVE liquid.  Add cornstarch to liquid and let thicken. Once thick add food back in. Stir to coat food.

6. Now add pasta and stir to coat.

7. Serve hot.

Tips: Grated Parmeasan cheese on top is good.  Some soy sause is good too.  I've never tried rice in place of pasta but you could try and let me know if it works.

Re: Recipes

Recipe Details  Thyme Chicken

Makes:

Prep Time:

10-20 min.

Cook Time:

1 to 1 1/2 hour

Ready In:

Servings:

0

Ingredients

Directions

  1. fully thawed, clean, and dry chicken.
  2. Using cold or room tempurature butter rub the chicken with a generous amount.
  3. Sprinkle on the thyme and pepper depending on you taste but I use about a tablespoon. Then a quick dash of bayleaf if desired. Then cover the chicken with matzah mix till nicely coated.
  4. Place the chicken in a covered dish and in a 400'F preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. With in the last 10 to 20 minutes uncover the chicken and continue baking. Sprinkle on a little more matzah mix for more crispy skin.
  6. Take out and enjoy.
  7. For potato and carrot side:
  8. Cube potatoes and slice carrots.
  9. Roughly cover potatoes and carrots in butter, thyme, bayleaf, and matzah mix. In cover container bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour in a 400'F oven. Bake seperate or with chicken.

Footnote

Using cold or room tempurature butter help's it stick to the chicken. 45 minutes to a hour for cornish hen. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, use your hands to spread the butter.1 to 1 1/2 hour for a full size hen. Uncovering the chicken late keeps it moist but gives a crunch to the skin.
Recipes
I love to cook.  So I figure to share some of the recipes I've made.  These are simple recipes and you can adjust these recipes to your taste.  Maybe a few a month will be added.  You can try and leave some comments about these in my forum.

Clip 1

This is just a clip for a whole episode.  Basicaly drawn out in frame by frame by frame fashion, 12 fps.

It's seems a bit griddy here on Shutterfly, motion wise, it was made much smoother and plays much smoother on Quicktime.  The original one I have exported to Quicktime plays way better.

My first animation.  I very proud for not having any animation experience and no pratice with this program.

There is no sound.  I ran out of time with the program and the microphones I have are pretty inaudible. So heres the dialog

As Joe climbs the fence he grunts out Frill's name.

When he is on the ground "Frill wake up"

Frill: "Uh huh"

Joe: "Ready"

Frill: excitedly "Yeah"

Joe: "Oh and" then Frill hits him

Frill: behind his hands "I'm sorry"

Joe: "Just go distract him"

After Grendolin throws the water ballon back at Frill, Frill coughs and sneezes of screen

Frill: Comes in scene " Hay you cheated and..." cuts to Joe behind the bush.

Joe: Annoyed ,thinking to himself " Agh, Frill's gonna get hurt,, well,, that thing is distracted, this might work"

Frill: Back in scene " So there" sticks his tounge at Grendolin

Scene to Joe and Frill traping Grendolin

Joe: "That wasn't so hard"

Frill: happyily "We got him"

Joe: "Lets see what we got here"
