Isn't she a precious little angel!  She has the most expressive little face.  She's my honeybunny.

So I was just perusing Julia's site and realized that I haven't posted a journal since May 2010!  I guess we've been busy.  We had a fun filled summer with James which included a trip to Myrtle Beach with their cousins, Jakob and Madelyn.  James' trip ended in San Diego where we had a mini-vaction in conjunction with a friend's wedding.  A couple weeks later we celebrated our third wedding anniversary AND found out we were expecting.  Two days later we celebrated Julia's second birthday.  Like I said, we were busy.

Speaking of JuJu (a nickname from daycare that stuck) she is definitely two!  Literally the week of her birthday the tantrums started.  Thankfully they've decreased thanks to her increasing ability to communicate with words.  However, the tantrums have been replaced with an incredible independence.  Don't bother turning on a light for her because she will just turn it off so she can turn it on herself.  Same with getting dressed, going potty (yes!), opening doors, feeding the pets (including a new addition, Wookie), washing her hands, getting water, etc.  I could go on and on.

Aside from the tantrums and the stubborn independece it has been incredible watching Julia grow and learn so much every day.  And seeing her and James together for three weeks over the holidays was priceless.  She pretty much worships James and James thinks she's pretty cool too, unless she's getting into his toys. 

Hopefully the next bean, I mean boy, will fit right in with these great kids.  We're looking forward to seeing Julia as a big and little sister and think she'll do splendidly as a middle child.

We just completed our first real trip to the beach (we made a couple attempts last year) and it was a huge success.  Julia has always loved the water but I didn't know what to expect when we got to the ocean.  She was fearless.  Out to the water she ran and splashed happily as the waves knocked her down.  The only part she didn't like was a mouth-full of salt water.  And who can blame her?

We're going to Myrtle Beach in July with Auntie Tami, Jakob and Madelyn so know we know she's ready.  And James will love every minute in the water so it should be a great trip. 

We've added a few words to the vocabulary including - agua, turtle, cracker, muffin, milk and caci (pacifier - a word I wish she would never learn).  I'm guessing by the end of summer she's going to be a motor mouth :)

It's hard to believe it's already April.  James was here for two weeks in March and the time just flew by - as it always does during his time with us.  We went to the zoo, swimming, Monkey Joes, biking and to the aquarium.  Thanks to Nana and Papa for coming down to help out!

Julia had her 18 month appointment and doesn't have to go back until she's 2!  Yay!  But my once little 5lb 10oz peanut is now a 25lb 5oz girl!  She's also shot up to 32 1/2 inches.

She's about to wrap up her first swim class and it's obvious we're going to have our hands full at the pool this summer - this girl likes to jump in the water!  Thank goodness James is such a good swimmer so he can handle himself well in the water.

It has been a month of change in Atlanta!  We had snow two weeks ago with a snowman on the back patio only to be greeted by 70 degrees and sunshine this past weekend.  It's so nice to get outside again and it is obvious Julia likes the outdoors just as much as Mommy and Daddy.

The words are coming slowly, along with the animal sounds.  But life is good - no complaints all around.

Another Christmas and New Years has come and gone.  As seems to be a tradition with this family we did not escape the holidays without illness.  Julia got bronchitis and cut a tooth just before Christmas leaving her pretty miserable.  James managed to get by with only a slight cough.

All in all a good time was had by all.  James and Julia learned so much about each other now that Julia is truly mobile and curious about everything.  He also acted as her interpreter as he swore she said things that Daddy and I have never understood.

We are entering 2010 with a whole new set of milestones to conquer - talking, eating with utensiles, finding body parts, etc.  It should be a very fun year!  I promise to share as much of it with you as possible.

For those of you keeping up with height and weight stats as of her 15 month appt. Julia weighed 24lb 8oz and measured 30 inches.  She's in the 75th percentile for weight and 25-50th for height.  So, yes, she's still short and stocky :)

So much for keeping up with our monthly updates - Julia is now 15 months!  It's been an extremely busy fall for us including a trip to Canada for her baptism and a move into a new house.  James and Julia no longer have to share a room!

Julia is running around the house and has mastered the stairs (up and down).  She's now working on teeth and words.  Both have been slow to come but we're making gradual progress.

We're looking forward to Christmas and having James here for a couple weeks.  It's very hard to go so long without seeing him now that he's in school.

The day I had been anticipating and dreading finally came - Julia's first birthday.  It's obviously a big day for the sheer fact it is a birthday.  But it also meant my baby is becoming a toddler.  It has been a wonderful year with lots of growing, learning, laughs and tears.

Julia is doing very well. She had a great summer with James and now that he's back in Canada starting school there is a quiet that none of us like, especially Julia.  Whenever Julia needed a pick-me-up this summer James was there to do the job :)  Now Justin and I are experimenting with new ways to get out that giggle. 

She took her first steps right around 11 months but got sidetracked with a pretty good hit on the head that required two stitches.  But within two weeks she was getting around really well and now nothing's stoping her.

With the first year now behind us I am looking forward to the year ahead.  A new house, a new daycare and many more milestones.  I hope you enjoy the ride with us.

How is it that almost a year has gone by since Miss Julia Gulia brightened this world!?  Honestly, it blows my mind that we're coming up on her first birthday, it makes me a little sad.  Sniff sniff.

On a good note Julia is doing great!  Yesterday she took her first steps and looks like she'll be going full speed in no time.  Unfortunately she is ready to walk right into the swimming pool!  This girl is fearless.

She is eating anything she sees and is officially off the Gerber food (yay!).  Next month she'll be off formula (bigger yay!).  Her and James are getting along spendidly and are always curious where the other is and what they're doing.  James is a good at consoling her too although I think he just tires of hearing her her whine and will do anything to get her to stop :)

Miss Julia spent her ninth month on the go.  Once she got comfortable crawling she got daring and started leaving our line of vision - only to find her getting into trouble (dog water, cat food, toilet paper, etc.). 

 

Due to a job change of mine it decided to put her in a new daycare closer to home.  She has adapted quickly and is already the infant room favorite (no surprise there).    She's the only one crawling so they take her around to the older rooms to let her explore.

 

We had our first family vacation that we tied into a trip to pick up James.  As you'll see in the July album we had a lot of fun in Vancouver, Whistler and Seattle.  Our days were spent swimming, biking, zip lines, go carts and dining on the top of the mounatin.  We think that might have to be an annual trip when we pick up James for the summer.

 

Two more teeth are working their way out.  Maybe next month she'll have a few more and be walking?  We will see!

It has been a very eventful month for Miss Julia.  On May 15 she was determined to get a computer charger and took off, never to be stopped again.  It has been fun watching her move around, getting distracted by something new every two feet.  She is also pulling up but hasn't started "cruising" around on furniture as of yet.

 

And the night before her 9 month birthday we realized two teeth had already popped through on the bottom - who knew!?  We had no idea she was even teething.  Hopefully the next few will be just as easy.

 

In other news we had her 9 month check up and we saw some serious growth.  She went from the 25th percentile in weight to almost the 75th.  She now weighs 19lb 13 oz, is 26 3/4 in long and her head is 43 1/2 cm (The Rodney doctors are always curious about that stat).

 

It's been a fun month with some swimming, camping and even an air show (see the May pictures for a shot with Daddy in front of his work aircraft).  Until next month...
