Daffodils on the Cusp
Went to my hangout in La Connor and took pics. The daffodils are getting ready to bloom.

This is LC1 - La Crema 1. This is the location I visit the most but he has a second shop now in the downtown core that is open on the weekends and will be open more during the Tulip Festival
(April 1-30). If you go to La Connor, check out the great coffee (fresh roasted, fair trade, organic), chai, etc. at La Crema (1 is at 6th and Morris, 2 is on the main street) and tell Troy, Charity, Jessica, Alex, or Gretchen that C.J. sent you!

There is a serenity garden near La Crema 2 that has a waterfall in the back and a calm place to sit and relax.

So magnificent
It never fails to make me catch my breath when I see them in flight. I had one that I couldn't get my camera out fast enough the other day that was flying next to my car, about 5-6 feet away! It was spectacular.

Great Blue Heron
Down at beach one I had the opportunity to try out the zoom as herons are rather skittish if you get close. The result was this picture and the next in this album.

Being able to use a better zoom made it easier to photograph this heron searching for food.

Web in the Mist
This was taken at the house. Jim saw this web from our kitchen window and thought it would be a great shot. I love how the dew drops cling and especially the one in the center.
Harvest Moon in the Clouds
Had to see what this camera would do with a super low natural light. Here was my first attempt.
A little garden serenity...
At the corner by Jay's house, the neighbor had this small planting area - I loved the "pop" the vine on the wall brought to the scene.

Chihuly has built a new home down the street from my friend Jay. Caught sight of this original of his through the window as I took pictures in the neighborhood.
A simple table...
Since I am considering food/restaurant photography as one of my options, I decided to take this one at Jay's house. I left it unedited rather than cropping or enhancing just to see how it would turn out.
Last of the rose buds
This was a lot of fun, on an early foggy morning, to capture a few of the last flowers before the weather turns cold for Fall and Winter. There is something so perfect in the imperfection.
Sun and Roses
The Sun provided the perfect back lighting for this shot.
Yellow Rose
Although this looks a bit fuzzy here, the actual close-up showed the dew drops on the edges and came out very sharp when I put it up as our desktop for a couple of days. I think this is one I will print an enlargement of and frame it.
Dahlias Rock!
Something about the intensity of color in dahlias that make them one of my favorite flowers to photograph. My favorite is still the white one I took in Tacoma but this one isn't in a perfect garden. This one shows every little bug and nibble but I still love it.
Another misty morning shot
Although Mt. Baker and the Cascades are muted in the morning fog, I loved the way the hull of this center boat led my eye to the horizon.
Ornamental grasses
I have no idea what this one is called but I think I have to get it for my backyard when I build the outdoor space in a year or two. Subtle red with the stripes of cream and green made this so attractive.
Something about ferns
I love ferns and the this variety caught my eye for a close-up.
Catching the sun
LB (top) and Forejays were determined to soak in the last vestiges of sunlight on the deck - even if that meant being within a foot of each other! They get along but are not usually quite this close. Aaaah - amazing what a bit of positive energy will do.
Little White Church on the Hill
This church outside of Silvana proper is only open to the public a couple days a week. It opened it's doors in 1890, I believe, and also boasts a graveyard from many years back as well as a bell in the tower seen here. One day I will actually get inside to take pictures.
Cloud Wow
Juniper Beach resident
There is this lovely bare tree that sits on the bluff above Port Susan at Juniper Beach where the eagles can perch to hunt. It made a striking picture. The zoom really helped me on this one. With the other camera, this would not have been clear.
Angel Wings
On my way home from work on the 24th of September, I noticed the clouds making some beautiful formations. This was the start. The two backlit clouds at the bottom reminded me of angel wings.
Headed home through Stanwood
The cloud formation continued to catch my attention so I pulled over to get a shot. Now the "angel wing" on the right looks more like a dolphin.
Old smoke stack
Another shot of the developing clouds flanked by the old Stanwood smoke stack.
Camano version
As I came along SR 532 onto Camano, I had to keep pulling over to catch this amazing formation.
Black and White
Since the clouds were so dramatic, I decided a B & W was in order. Almost reminds me of a reverse footprint in the sand. Either that or the scene from the later version of The Mummy Returns (with Brendan Fraser) when the mummy's face was pushed 3D through the clouds in pursuit.
Sunlit
Here is another shot with the setting sun in the background. Technically I should have edited out the power wires but I think it is still a great shot.
Close-up
Very dramatic with the close-up I got outside of The Kristopherson Farm (used to be the Alpaca farm across from The Plaza on Camano).
Second Time Out
Willie and Carol
This couple was out for a morning walk when they happened upon me at Beach #2. We shared a bit of conversation and then, when they weren't looking, I took their picture. Hope I can catch up with them one day to give them a copy!
Beach #2 Birdhouse
This cute old birdhouse sits atop a divider between private and Country Club beach property. I love the details and wish that I could have photographed it from the front without trespassing!
Seagull Sunrise
Something about a bird in flight in a sunrise or sunset that just makes the picture.

Again, not my best shot but I loved the composition of lines, color and clouds.
Camano Island's Finest
This is one of the crew from the fire station near us. I stopped and asked if I could take pictures and they agreed. They were checking and reloading hoses and equipment. The first shot was posed but I liked this one better. They are some of the best fire and rescue in Western Washington in my humble opinion.
Storehouse in the Corn
Taken on one of the backroads headed toward the Warm Beach area road. The angle made it look like it was half buried in the corn.
A quiet farm on the backroad
Just loved the contrast between their red barn/shed and the older farmhouse.
Prepping
I almost missed seeing this eagle. From one angle on the road, you only see this massive nest. However, a bit of movement caught my eye so I pulled over and got out. Sure enough, this bald eagle was either prepping the nest or was eating its meal here as it was very active over the nest. Nice that it posed for me and that I had a much better zoom. This is the first clear eagle picture I have taken and it was due to that zoom feature.
Another "buried" building
This barn and outbuildings were in this cornfield and again looked buried!
Pansies
I have lucked out with flower pictures as we have wonderful varieties not only at the nurseries but also our local QFC and Haggen stores. This one was at QFC. They don't seem to mind my endless picture taking!
White Pansies
I don't see them often but these white pansies called out for a picture to be taken.
Dramatic Color
Embarassing as it is, I have no idea the variety of this flower but the color is amazing and dramatic.

Again, no clue as to the type of flower but I can never resist trying to capture the dramatic white flowers whatever they may be.
Flowering Cabbage
I loved the almost surreal effect of this shot.

Something that takes my breath away is getting into the very core of a plant or flower. One often ignores the delicate and intricate workings of one as it "blooms."

This bouquet was just inside the door at QFC. Hey, I had to go in to get some groceries anyway!

I have never been able to keep one alive but I love them. QFC in Stanwood has an amazing variety.

Again, I have no idea about what flower this is but it was one I picked up for our railing planting this year. In actuality, this flower is only about 1 inch across but very pretty.

There is something exquisite about water drops on flowers and plants that make them irresistable to me.

Another of my favorite flowers, gerbera daisies are always high on drama with their brilliant colors.

The cukes have been blanched and the dill and garlic added. This is before the vinegar solution is added.

We only had one that didn't fully seal. Not bad - 28 out of 29 quarts.

Although I haven't wandered through the entire garden since fall, I did manage to grab a couple of photos from their front yard. This succulent (not sure of the name) was so pretty in it's "nest" that I couldn't resist.
Waterdrops
Just after a rain, the soon to "leaf" Japanese maple in our front yard gave me yet another view.
Layers
I took this on Thursday, March 18, from Eastbound 532 approaching Stanwood. I loved the way my eye moved from layer to layer of this pretty picture.

European Style
One of the most fun memories was seeing plants and trees growing like artwork on walls and fences. My favorites in Europe were the plums at Audley House in England in their organic garden.

They come in many colors and often remind me of "antique" colors.

Out by the hot tub is this fabulous old lady cat, the green of her eye coordinated perfectly with her surroundings.

Hellebores
This gorgeous flowering plant is making an early appearance this year.

I have no idea what this plant/vine is but the fragrance is heady.

Due to the warmer weather, the forsythia is coming out like crazy.
