The Mohawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead heading into the 5th, when the Lawmen batted their way back to even the score at 7. The game played out as a battle to the end, but was decided on a couple of late defensive miscues with 2 outs in the 8th. the Lawmen capitalized on the errors with clutch 2-out hitting. The Mohawks rallied right back in the 9th to close the lead to a 3 run deficit, but came up short leaving the bases loaded. The Mohawks have no reason to hold their heads down on this game or the season. The Mohawks played with intensity and class, while having fun doing it the entire year. Kudos to a great season and we will see you all in 2011!!! ---With our new uniforms!!!

Blowout Scores in Opening Round of Playoffs
The Opening Round of Playoffs kicked off on Sunday, Sept. 12th as well as the opening week of the NFL and the scores were more like football than baseball.
In the first games the Mohawks came back from 9 to beat the Cubs 25 to 21 and the Lawmen outslugged the Javelins 25 to 15.
The second games of the day were the Bulls pounding the Pirates 26 to 9 while the Chiefs dramatically beat the Slammers 10 to 8.
The Mohawks will face the Cubs in the 1st round of the playoffs set for September 12th, 10AM, at Simmons Field. The Mohawks finished the season in 3rd place in their division with a record of 8-8. The last month has been tough. Rainout make-up games have taken their toll on everyone with 3 games per week over the last month. Now is the time for the Mohawks to re-group and heal up in time for the playoff run. Go Mohawks!!!!
The Javelins outplayed the Mohawks from start to finish to win 10-8 at Wilmot Field. The Mohawks committed 8 errors on defense. The Javelins had a good pitching performance and played hard the entire game.
The Lawmen and Mohawks battled for the tie breaker for first place as well as for the team’s head to head series. These teams didn’t disappoint with a very competitive game all the way to the end. Both teams stayed close with solid pitching and good defense. Heading in to the top-half of the 7th, the Lawmen were in the lead 4-1. The Mohawks bats woke up and rallied for 4 runs with clutch hitting by Mike David (RBI triple), Angel Torres (2-run double), and Chad Hanenberger (RBI single). The Mohawks made a late pitching change and it proved to be the difference. The Lawmen responded with big hits and added 5 runs to make it 9-5. The Mohawks were held scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take the loss. The Lawmen improve to 10-2, while the Mohawks drop to 8-3.
The Mohawks Mike David pitched a complete game shutout to defeat the Cubs 9-0 at Bradford Field on Sunday. Mike David scattered 6 hits and the Mohawks defensive made the plays needed to preserve the win. The bats were quiet early due to solid pitching by both teams. The Mohawks had a 3-0 lead heading in to the 7th inning where they broke out for 6 runs against Cubs reliever Jim Ruffner. The Mohawks offensive leaders were Angel Torres (3-4 with 2 singles and a double, 2 RBI’s), Eric Dahlke (3-3 with 3 singles and 2 RBI’s), Ken Detina with a 2-run single, and Jim Galluska (2-4 with a single and a double). The Mohawks record improves to 7-2 while the Cubs drop to 6-3-1.
The Lawmen hit the ball early and often to defeat the Mohawks 14-7 at Simmons Field on Wednesday night. With the Mohawks beating the Lawmen 10 days prior, the Lawmen were out for revenge and got it. The Mohawks did claw back in the 5th inning to get within 6 runs, but Chad Stillman of the Lawmen sealed the victory by hitting a 2-run home run off reliever Matt Siekert. Pitcher Kris Kamakian took the loss for the Mohawks. The Lawmen are now tied with the Mohawks for 1st place overall. Both teams play each other again on Tuesday, August 10th at Simmons Field 6pm.
The Mohawks outlasted a shortened, but very competitive Lawmen team to win 13-10 in extra innings. The Lawmen took an early 6-1 lead with a 5-run 2nd inning, but the Mohawks kept chipping away until they finally took a 9-7 lead heading into the final inning. The Lawmen took advantage of a late throwing error by the Mohawks catcher to tie the game. In the extra inning, the Mohawks Jason McGahan hit a clutch 3-run Home Run. The Mohawks added 1 more run to make it a 13-9 score. The Lawmen continued to scratch back by loading the bases. The Mohawks brought in pitcher Kris Kamakian, who got the save by getting the final 2 outs. Matt Siekert came on in relief in the 5th inning to get the win. The Mohawks offense was led by Jason McGahan, who went 3-3 (Home Run, 2 singles, 3 RBI, and 2 Runs scored). Other notable Mohawks include Eric Dahlke (2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored) and Chad Cushman (3-4, 3 singles).
The Mohawks shook off one bad inning to defeat the Pirates 13-6 in a warm and sticky Wilmot field. The Mohawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead until the 5th when the wheels temporarily came off. Walks, hits, and defensive miscues led to the Pirates tying the game at 6 apiece. The hitting started up again for the Mohawks, which cruised to a 13-6 victory. Pitcher Kris Kamakian (2-1) entered the game in the 5th inning to get the win. The Mohawks bats were led by Ken Detina, who went 4-4 with a triple, double, and 2 singles. Matt Siekert went 2-4 with a double and a single. Angel Torres went 2-4 with 2 singles. Virtually everyone contributed in the lineup with at least 1 hit.
The Mohawks got back on track to defeat the Javelins 7-4 at Wilmot Field. The Javelins got out to an early 3-1 lead. The Mohawks chipped away with hits and finally broke out with 6 runs in the final 2 innings. The Mohawks defense was the story by not committing an error. Mike David pitched 6 strong innings (1K 1BB with 3 earned). Scott Frayer closed the game out well by giving up only 1 hit. The Mohawks hitting was spread out with Ken Detina hitting an RBI triple, Kyle Garrity going 2-4 (RBI), Chad Cushman hit a single with 3 runs scored, Mike David continued his hot streak with another hit, and Angle Torres added an RBI single. The Mohawks are now 3-1 while the Javelins fall to 1-4.
For the Slammers Brian Rehm went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Brett Britten went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.
The Mohawks started strong and held off a late comeback by the Cubs to win 8-7 at Wilmot Field. The Mohawks were led by Kris Kamakian who pitched 5 steady innings (5K's, 1BB and 2 earned runs). The Cubs started to chip away in the 5th inning with a 2-run home run by Jonathan Marrone. The Cubs added 3 more runs in the 7th, but the Mohawks held them off in the end. The Mohawks bats were led by Mike David, who went 3-3 with a double and 2 singles with 1 RBI. Also, Kyle Garrity came in as a late inning replacement to deliver a 2-run go-ahead single in the 6th. The Mohawks improve to 2-0 for the season and the Cubs are now even at 1-1.
