Feet First
Everywhere I go, there they are.  Right below my camera lens.  I ask no permission.  I take no liberties.  I merely shoot.  Well, not all of the images are my feet.  I find that shoes and feet are a fascinating focus when I am not shooting architectural compositions.  These images have been created on travels in about 10 different countries, over a span of 30 years!

SEAVER NEWS FLASHES!

Exciting Travel

Off to Hungary on Friday for a week of discovery - cameras in hand, of course.  Fall is in the air and the leaves are quickly turning there.  Spas, castles, exciting old architecture, new colors.  I'll post some photos when I return.

VROOM Posters are HOT!

My posters will be released in the fall but you can see them here first!  Keep checking back.

FINAL PROOFS & off to the printer

Three of my photos are going BIG TIME!  Sometime in the fall they will start appearing in poster, frame,  and retail stores in the US.  I don't know about you but I often have visited IKEA and found framed (!!) posters for $7.99 that looked fabulous.  Oh I can do that, I'd think to myself.  And hey, guess what, I am!!  So now it becomes a numbers game.  The more sold, the merrier I will be!

Added Alliance of Women Artist Site

I linked in my Alliance of Women Artists' site today.  www.allianceofwomenartists.shutterfly.com  As individuals and a group we exhibit nationally and internationally.  Photos on this site are from all members.  Last show was in Montreal in 2008.

Publishing Contract Signed

On June 17, 2009 I signed my first contract to publish 3 images for posters.  Ready for Fall '09 sales, you may see them in IKEA, Z Gallerie, WalMart and other high volume retailers.  This is a major step towards my goal of hospitality and healthcare placements.

Global Gift Shop Offers Seaver Notecards

SUR, an upscale shop of global talent in Fairfax, CA, fell in love with my stunning photo notecards.  The 28 images I chose for them complement their green and global mission.  Come take a trip around the world with a Seaver card!

Seaver Photography & KMW Glass Art Team for Marin Open Studios!

Pairing Seaver Photography with Kathleen Walbridge's fused glass art creates a visual treat for visitors to our open studio.  You can view Kathleen's art at www.kmwglassart.com.  Open Studios in Marin are a fun opportunity to visit artists at their source.  A program of the Marin Arts Council, view all participating artists at www.marinarts.org/openstudios/intropage.php

International Photography Award Earned!

Centerpoint, a powerful abstract study of San Francisco architect, Donald MacDonald's Ravenal Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina, earned an honorable mention in a field of 22,000 submissions from 124 countries.  Shooting from an unusual perspective turned his award-winning bridge into a visually stunning award-winning photograph.

ABOUT MY ART

I am a photographer first and foremost - a purist.  The quality and content of my images depends on my vision, not on film or silicon.  A bold splash of color, an often painterly quality, a hard edge line - my photographs can be both literal and abstract.  When I photograph, you may see an object in a way you never have before.  This tantalizing ambiguity invites - and challenges - you to see anew.

Custom sizes and finishes are available, including Hahnemuhle photo rag, canvas, and outdoor all-weather aluminum. Just ask!

FYI on My Photo Process

Since moving from analog to digital, I find that little has changed in my visual process. I still use the viewfinder of my DSLR.  I rarely manipulate my files beyond cropping, adjusting, and minor color correction.  My eye is my most valuable tool regardless of the photo-making gear I use.  In fact, I would say my digital post process is nearly identical to my former darkroom work.  And to tell the truth, I much preferred my time in the darkroom to my endless hours at the computer.  Still, it's a very exciting world in which to be an artist.  I compete with cell phones, point-n-shoots, and all variety of consumer tools.  The biggest change has been moving from the tactile handling of my slides (which I still prefer) to the endless worry about my digital files pressing up against my organizational and computer challenges.

Looking for a Digital with an Optical Viewfinder?

The camera makers think we don't want optical viewfinders anymore but apparently they don't read the camera forum sites much.  I will only buy a compact with an optical viewfinder. I like the larger LCD but I absolutely rely on a viewfinder.  Must be my age!

Anyway here are my recommendations for 2009 (although some are 2008):

However, if you really don't care about an optical viewfinder,  I like these cameras for their long focal lengths.  They are a bit larger physically.

Hi Keven: Congrats on your updated web site. It is thrilling to see so many of your images grouped together.  I'm going to keep it up and come back every so often and explore it more fully. Nice to see your vision, philosophy and self shared so generously. Hope all is well with you. All is well here.
