We were very blessed this Easter! I knew this Easter was going to be great, but it was better than I could ever anticipate! Easter morning the children woke up bright and early. You would've thought it was Christmas morning, but close enough. The kids made sure they were all awake before they proceeded downstairs to hunt for their Easter Baskets. Kaitlyn found hers first and then assisted everyone else in locating their baskets! The Easter Bunny did not put any candy in their baskets this year, which was such a wonderful idea! Candy at 6 o'clock in the morning is never a good thing!
After breakfast we got ready and went to the 9 o'clock service at church. We had to arrive at 8 o'clock so I could rehearse with the Bells of Wesley. The children sat so nicely in the pew and just absorbed all of the beautiful music. After practice, I took Kaitlyn to the nursery and she was devistated that I would be leaving her. She has only been in the nursery a couple of times, but at her age, she has to go or else I and the other members would not be able to listen to the sermon. The ninja side of her comes out!! During the service, Ashlyn and Madelyn attended Children's Time. They got to color eggs and go on an easter egg hunt. So much fun!! Devin and I sat through a very moving sermon! We were meant to attend...God gave me the direction I was looking for! As it was once was said, there is a broken heart in every pew. There is also a resurection in every pew. This is our resurection!
After church we stopped by the David Davis Mansion and took a couple of pictures. Then we came home and had an easter egg hunt inside as it was too muddy in the backyard! Kaitlyn was thrilled to find "chocolate" in every egg. She was happy with one egg at a time. The kids got their fill of candy!
This year for Easter it was just the kids and I. I love to have people over for the holidays, but with my parents and brother in Texas and transition we've had to overcome, I thought it would be really special for us to spend it together...nice and simple! And we all loved it!
After lunch we had quite time and enjoyed a classic movie, Pippi Longstocking, and headed out for pictures! We went to Ewing Manor and took many enjoyable pictures. The kids were great! The girls felt like princesses!
Afterwards we came home and got on our play clothes and headed to Oakland School to fly kites, play basketball and throw around the football. We had so much fun! We got the kite up but for no more than 30 seconds at a time. We couldn't figure it out?? All I knew was that we were burning off a few calories we comsumed at lunch and having a blast at the same time! Once I got the kite up...I took off running and I found myself running through a swamp...sinking in mudd. Devin and Ashlyn thought it was great...I didn't at first, but then I kicked off the flops and continued being a kid!
Despite missing all our friends and family...our Easter was a wonderful day that we will always remember! God Bless!
