Puppies are 7 weeks old and it feels so good knowing which puppy is going home with each of you. You are all wonderful families and we could not be happier. Puppies are going to have a busy week! After 7 days of rain we were finally able to get everyone outside last night. We are hoping that the rain holds off today and we can get them out again. They will be wormed again this weekend and they all go to the vet on Wednesday to be checked out and receive their health certificates. They will be exposed to and spend some time in a crate and they will get their first experience with raw food.

Puppy picking day is finally here! Scores and write-ups as well as updated photos are posted above. I look forward to talking with each of you this evening.

The puppies are six weeks old today! This week they have been very busy for them as they have been spending time in other rooms and outside. The puppies are exploring more and having many new experiences. I had an unfortunate incedent with my camera and I lost every single picture that I took during this week. I will just have to make up for it this weekend.

Puppies are 5 weeks old! Today they started their sound socialization by listening to a CD that exposes them to various sounds such as crying babies, barking dogs, fire works, thunder, gun shots, sirens, doorbells etc. They will continue to listen to it each day as we slowly raise the volume. The puppies are getting very adept at playing with their treat ball (when D'Arcy doesn't steal it from them!) New pictures and video this weekend.

The puppies are four weeks old today! And in just four short weeks, they will be going home with their forever families. The puppies all have teeth! As you can tell from the webcam, they are old enough to get out of the big bed to roam around the puppy pen playing with each other and some toys. We are introducing them to the puppy pee pad and litter box and they are learning very quickly. This weekend they will have their first meal of canned puppy food mixed with warm goat's milk. New pictures and video this weekend.
April 23, 2011
I just posted a video of the puppies playing. Although they are still too young to come out of the bed full time, we have been letting them out to run around a bit every now and then. They got to play with some toys today. While I was filming, D'Arcy snuck in to steal one of their toys. I realized it when I heard her trying to remove the squeak from the toy!

Puppies are three weeks old today! They are really starting to engage in play with each other and they have all found their voices. New pictures will be posted this weekend.
April 17, 2011
All the puppies have their eyes open! They are continuing to grow and get more active each day. The are finding their voices as well!
April 11, 2011
Tullamore and Jameson have opened their eyes! We expect to see eyes open on everyone by the end of the week. D'Arcy and the pups are doing great.
April 8, 2011
The puppies are one week old today! They are really growing fast. It may surprise you that weighing in at 16.6 ounces the biggest puppy in the litter is Lucy and weighing in at 13.3 ounces the smallest puppy is Bridget O'Malley. The weights of all the rest are falling in between. Puppies have gained more than 50% of their birth weight.
April 5, 2011
Everything here is going great and we are all starting to settle into a routine. The pups have gained anywhere from 30 to 40% of their birth weight! It is amazing how fast they grow. We have started the Bio-Sensor exercises with each pup and we continue to weigh them twice a day. I will work on getting updated individual photos of each pup tonight. Hopefully you are all enjoying the Webcam!

The pups and D'Arcy had a good first night. For the next couple of nights I will be turning off the webcam before bed. At this point, the puppies cannot maintain their own body heat so it is important to put the crate cover back on during the night to make sure it is nice and warm in there. With the crate cover on, you cannot see the puppies. The webcam is back up and running now. The pups are all nursing great and gaining weight as they should. D'Arcy has to eat a lot to keep up with the nursing demands so she gets fed many times during the day.
April 1, 2011
D'Arcy had 8 puppies, 4 girls and 4 boys. The first puppy arrived at 2:57 AM and the last at 8:16 AM. D'Arcy did wonderful and she has taken to motherhood like second nature. She is resting comfortably now. Later today I will post pictures and send you all the link for the webcam.
March 31st, 9:40 PM
D'Arcy appears to be in the early stages of labor. This could go on all night and we'll see puppies in the morning or it could happen in a few hours.
March 31, 2011
D'Arcy's temperature continues to drop and she really didn't want to eat her breakfast this morning. You can visibly see the puppies moving so I think they are all running out of space! I am pretty sure that the low pressure system coming to our area this evening will surely help speed things along. Only in New England can it be 60 degrees one day and we get a foot of snow the next! I'll keep you posted.
March 29, 2011
D'Arcy's temperature has been fluctuating between 100 and 99. At this point it is not low enough to indicate that she is ready to go into labor. I think she will probably hold out on us for a couple more days. I'll post another update tomorrow.
March 27, 2011
There isn't long to wait now! D'Arcy is feeling very uncomfortable and spends most of her time resting. You can actually see the puppies moving around! She spent some time relaxing in the sunshine this weekend but over the next few days and until she whelps the puppies, she will spend most of her time in the whelping pen. My next update on this site will most likely be after the puppies have arrived!
March 20, 2011
D'Arcy has been resting quite often this week. Her appetite has increased in order to keep up with the demands of her growing puppies. She prefers to be close to us at all times. Today we assembled the whelping pen. Just over a week and a half until the puppies arrive!
March 13, 2011
Nineteen days until D'Arcy's due date! D'Arcy is doing really well. She is napping more often and starting to slow down. She is still getting her daily walks but we don't go as far as we used to. All the dogs have been enjoying the outside since the weather is starting to warm up and the snow has continued to melt. The whelping/puppy room is all ready and D'Arcy is currently sleeping in the large crate where the puppies will be delivered.
March 6, 2011
D'Arcy is 36 days along today. She is starting to slow down and rest a bit more. She has gained almost 2 pounds and has a noticable baby bump! We are busy getting the whelping room ready and will prepare some videos soon.
Sonogram today!
D'Arcy had a sonogram today which confirmed that she is carrying six puppies due on April 1st! The heartbeats were strong, the puppies all appear to be the same size and D'Arcy is doing well. See the sonogram pictures below.
February 2011
D'Arcy was bred the end of January. There is lots going on behind the scenes to prepare for the arrival of her litter. On March 1st, D'Arcy will have a sonogram to confirm the puppy count.
Eight puppies whelped on April 1st. Puppies will be ready to go home when they reach 8 weeks of age. COI 0%
