Ladder 62 Responds to Taxpayer fire in Inwood
The company ended 2009 with a mutual aid response to the Inwood Fire Department. The fire building was a 40x60 single story taxpayer. Ladder 62 was requested to respond and was initially assigned as the FAST truck, and was later put to work in the fire building to assist with suppression and overall.
Antonio "Chino" Cuevas WINS Chief's Election
On September 9th, Hook & Ladder 2's Antonio "Chino" Cuevas won the department election for Second Assistant Chief. Chino has been a very dedicated member of the company and the department for almost 10 years. Prior to joining Hook and Ladder 2, Chino served as company Captain of Engine Company 4. 5/16/09 - 4th Alarm @ 118 through 134 East Park Ave
4/26/09 - Working House Fire @ 225 E Beach St
H&L 2 responded to a report of "smoke in the house" at 225 East Beach St. A Signal 10 was quickly transmitted by the first arriving Chief. An agressive interior attack contained the fire to the 2nd and 3rd floors in the 2/3 corner.
3/15/09 - Working House Fire @ 165 W Fulton St
During the department's weekly drill and training session, all companies were alerted for a report of a house fire at 165 W Fulton St. Hook and Ladder 2 responded as the first due truck company. A "room and contents" fire on the 1st floor was quickly knocked down.
3/2/90 - Working House Fire @ 524 East Bay Dr
H&L 2 responded to a working house fire at 425 East Bay Drive. The company encountered heavy fire upon arrival on the "2 side" of the house. The fire reportedly started in the fireplace, extended into the wall, and was contained to the 2/3 corner. 3-Handlines stretched an operated, one on each floor and an exterior line.
