I've uploaded a lot of photos from April, most of which got linked on the blog for BEDA, but there are some new ones and I liked having one nice summary for the month of March, SO you get another one here. 

...and with it came a LOT of photos, so I split them into smaller albums to make them more manageable. I'm trying to stay on top of things, but don't be surprised if there isn't always a blog post to go with the albums. I'll put links to all of the photos from this month below to make it easier to find them. ^_^

Hello! There will be a few new albums going up, so check the next several down if you want to see them all. I've got one from Joshua Tree National Park, and also one from my sister's visit to California, plus photos of the six month old panda at the San Diego Zoo. ^_^ 

There is a new album with photos from January 10 and 11, from the North Carolina Outer Banks. The Hatteras and Bodie Island lighthouses, First Flight monument, and Fort Raleigh (site of the Lost Colony of Roanoke) are included. ^_^

Two new albums for you-- one from Charleston, South Carolina, and Fort Sumter; one from Williamsburg, Virginia, and surrounding areas. I've been on a National Parks tour of late. Enjoy!

This past weekend (before Christmas) I took a trip with a friend to the North Carolina Outer Banks in search of wild horses... Take a look at what we found. ^_^

The two most recent albums are actually a little out of order, but they include my also set of photos from Hawaii (mostly sunsets, which I find appropriate) and then the first couple of days in San Diego (including photos from the SD Zoo, also appropriate). I'm somewhat limited on what I can do, so there probably won't be captions, but I hope you enjoy them anyway. ^_^

The new album is from the first week of November when my sister and I took a roadtrip to Orlando, Florida. The first section is from the UF football game we attended, then you'll see Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal, and then Disney World. Enjoy! (Especially since I don't have time to caption...) 

The new album has photos from our mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico. They have captions explaining what you're seeing. Enjoy! ^_^ 

On Thursday and Friday we took a trip to Ely, MN, and the Minnesota north woods. The newest album has the photos from that trip. :) While there, we visited the North American Bear Center, the Dorothy Molter Museum (the famous Rootbeer Lady), and the International Wolf Center, not to mention the town of Ely itself (pronounced Ee-lee) and several lakes. Wildlife spotted included loons, hawks, eagles, peregrine falcon, and a coyote, though we didn't get photos of most of them. Enjoy our trip! 

The new album is from our visit to the National Eagle Center on July 3. We saw two of the eagles playing in the river to cool off, and saw all of the birds in the center, then visited the Little House in the Big Woods waystop on the way out of town. 

I took a walking tour today of historic Minneapolis, which used to be called Mill City because of all of the mills here. I've added some photos from that tour below, but without captions for the time being. I'll try to add them later if I get a chance... :)

I've added a lot of photos from my sister's visit earlier this month. We did a lot more than what I photographed, most notably another hike out to Kaena Point, but I didn't always want to carry my camera, especially with the sheer amount of hiking we did. It's too bad I didn't have it at Kaena, though-- there was a baby monk seal snuggling with its mother, not to mention a ton of fish in the tide pools. I'm glad I didn't have to haul it all the way out there, though. 

There are a few new albums-- I never posted about the pirate photos, for instance. But the new ones as of today are from Military Appreciation Day at the zoo and of the hikes we did over Memorial Day weekend.

Photos have been added from the Mad Hatter tea party, though they are mostly of my friend's daughter who had fun playing dress-up and being a tightrope walker. The photos came out well, though, and I have permission to post them, so... here you are. :) 

I've uploaded all the photos of my egg-decorating project this weekend. There are eggs with several themes-- Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter, as well as some Celtic and some "classic" designs, etc. I also took some photos mid-process. Hope you enjoy them!

There are two new albums. I didn't take many photos in December and most of those are from my phone, but there are some pretty ones already from January. ^_^

Well, it took me most of today, but I finally got all the photos from my trip edited and uploaded a representative collection. I'll add captions later. ^_^

I've (finally) uploaded early autumn photos. There aren't many because I didn't do a whole lot, and mostly I was photographing sunrises and landscapes. Hope you enjoy them!

Hello! Sorry for the really long gap in updates. There's been a lot going on lately and not a lot of time to update photos. I've got a good collection of Philippines photos up now, but won't have time to caption them for a little bit so you'll have to bear with me. Enjoy them!

So, I was bad and didn't upload any photos from April at all... but that doesn't mean I didn't take any. I've got them up now, including clouds sitting on mountains, a trip on the Atlantis Submarine (first time w/ the new camera!), zoo pictures, a baptism on the ship, and a few other odds and ends. I might caption them if I have time, but with my current track record, I might not. Enjoy!

Here are some photos from last week's change of command ceremony on board the ship. ^_^

Here's the first half of March for you. I got a new camera, so there are a lot of experimental photos in here, mostly of the cats (my usual test subjects) but also of things I've seen this month; as I go to different places I'm trying out new settings and playing with my new telephoto lens.

The second part (right after the cats) is of Ko'Olina-- beaches and tide pools with tiny fish. The third part is of the Honolulu Festival Parade on Sunday, March 13. I'll add captions as I have time!

I forgot to post for February... so here's pretty much all of it!

Okay, so I've been bad about post photos, but I finally have all of the second half of January up along with captions and in the correct order! Shutterfly hasn't been nice to me lately in that regard, so it took some time.

I have lots of photos from the zoo, including of the new lion, Moxie! She's very photogenic and looks right at the camera. I didn't get any whale photos yesterday at the whale count (being too busy counting, y'know...), but I did take some of the early morning views.

Yesterday afternoon we went to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year celebration and parade, so the biggest chunk of photos is from that. Hope you enjoy them!

Photos from the first half of January are now posted WITH captions. I never got them done for the family visit, though I think most of it was pretty self-explanatory. Most of these new photos are from this past weekend at Camp Erdman on the north shore.

J's family came to visit for Christmas and New Years, so the new album is all of that. I'll add captions soon, but for now at least the pictures are in order. ^_^

A couple of new photos from last night, starting here with a photo of our Christmas tree. We didn't take any photos AT the command holiday party (it was dark and we were talking to a lot of people), so I got a few when we got home. ^_^

I didn't take many photos in November, so I tacked the handful I had into the start of the December album. There should be more photos this month, though, what with the holidays and all.

Not many photos this month, if you don't count all the ones from our trip. Here are a few from the zoo and Halloween. ^_^

We went to the Big Island this past weekend, and I pared my photos down to under 100 for you, so here they are. I'll add captions when I have time, but today's been kind of busier than I anticipated. Enjoy them! ^_^

There's a new album up from Saturday when we went to the air show. Most of the photos are of the Blue Angels, who are incredible, though I love watching the F22 Raptor demonstrations, too. Actually, I didn't get many photos because I was too interested in watching. ^_^

This weekend I went on a youth retreat with a group of high school kids and wound up being the only female leader who could stay the whole weekend. Here are some photos from the camp, which is also the location of "Otherton" from the TV show "Lost" and some photos of the ladies in the youth group when we had some free time on the beach.

J got to see parts of San Diego in the past week, and here are some of the photos he sent me. He toured the San Diego Zoo and some of the historic sites downtown, but I don't have labels for them yet, so bear with me. Hope you enjoy them!

There are a few new photos from the sailor in the album "J's Adventures." I'm also working on getting some up for the month of August, but I haven't really photographed much.

I've added new photos to the July album from a couple of beach trips (to a new place we've discovered) and from the orchid show I attended this weekend. If you want to start with the new photos, click here.

I don't know the orchid varieties, so they are mostly labeled by color or shape.

I've uploaded photos from the trip to Kauai last week. I took more when we got back, but will add them in a couple of days so that these can be on top for a while. We did a lot of sight-seeing and I've tried to label what I can, but some of it I either don't remember or never knew what I was seeing (like the orange wildflowers).

This weekend we had our anniversary dinner a little early since it looks like J will be working on our real anniversary. We stayed down in Waikiki for the weekend and had dinner at Duke's and just had a good time relaxing and getting away from the housework for a while. Not many photos because they're all places we've been, but here are a few new ones.

This weekend J and I hiked to Manoa Falls. It was a beautiful hike along a muddy trail through rainforest and even though we got dirty, it was completely worth it.

Today I did the Lanikai pillbox hike. It goes to two old WW2 bunkers. There are a lot of them around the island that were manned for years to prevent surprise attacks after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The day was clear and bright so the view was fantastic.

You can start with the photo here if you've already seen the lantern floating pictures. ^_^ It's of one of my cousin's daughters at the beach last week. I went on the hike with them today, too. Enjoy!

PS: I did not get any photos at the frocking ceremony because it was on the ship, but someone did take photos. If I get copies, I'll share them. ^_^

I put the Lantern Floating in the June album even though I took them May 31 because I edited and uploaded them today, June 1. ^_^ I also added some fun photos of the tigers that I took today when we gave them a bubble bath. Hope you like them!

There are a lot of new photos (maybe 70?) in the May album, most of which are from my sister's visit over the last two weeks. We went to the zoo, to Waikiki, to Waimea Valley, horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch, and to a lot of other places that I didn't take photos. Anyway, they all have captions, so should be pretty easy to follow.

I've added an album that's basically a walk-through of the Zoo. It's long because I included the paths you take from place to place, wide shots of exhibits (which my zoo friends will be interested in seeing), some night houses (i.e. behind the scenes stuff) and then close-ups of some of the animals. It's got a lot of exhibits in a fairly small space, so this is by no means everything there, but it's everything I photographed in the last week or so, just walking around the zoo.

I'm trying to get captions up, but I seem to be having trouble with my internet connection so may or may not have the patience to deal with it tonight.... but most of the photos are self-explanatory. I'll add the captions as I can. ^_^

Also, I work with the small primates and the tigers when I volunteer, so if there are a lot of those particular animals, that's why. ~_^

I uploaded just a handful of photos from this weekend. The rain has (mostly) stopped so we can start hitting the beach again, which is nice. I love the bright blues and greens of the ocean when it's not overcast. Enjoy!

For the past week, we had company visiting us. They wanted to see and do as much as possible, so we've been active and busy, but here's an overview in photos. When are YOU coming to visit? ^_^

We got to see the US Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment on Thursday (3/11). It included the Drum and Bugle Corps, the Silent Drill Platoon and the Battle Color Guard. ^_^

New photos from Monday, March 1. J had the day off after the non-scary tsunami (or, as the TV people are calling it, "the event"), so we took advantage of it by touring the USS Missouri and then having dinner in Waikiki and catching the Magic of Polynesia show. Photos are below! ^_^

Hello! The new photos are up with pictures from whale watching and other parts of our trip to Maui this past weekend. We saw whales breach completely from the water, but I didn't get photos of them... but it was spectacular to see. The trip was very fun, but I think next time we go we'll have to stay longer and see the other side of the island, too. Hope you enjoy!

This weekend we went to Chinatown for the New Year celebration. We caught the parade, saw several Chinese cultural demonstrations and had a wide variety of food. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Yesterday felt like an entire weekend, and I took plenty of photos... We started the day at the Dole Plantation, doing their maze and garden tour, and then continued to Haleiwa on the North Shore where we had shave ice and strolled through the old surfing village. Then we drove east and discovered a sea turtle on the beach on the way to Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach. We also discovered a great seafood place in Haleiwa, but I didn't take any pictures of our food. I know you're disappointed. ~_^

The new album is from Sunday night's trip to the Honolulu Hale Christmas lights downtown. I haven't had time to label them all, but I think they're mostly self-explanatory. ^_^

I added a handful of pictures today from the harbor by Aina Moana (Magic Island) park; it's the harbor that was the starting point for the infamous Three Hour Tour (no, really!), and looks across to the hotel featured in the opening sequence of Hawaii Five-Oh. ^_^

The new photos show our Christmas decorations, a few of the cats, and photos of Iolani Palace, which we didn't have time to tour, but we did a quick walk of the grounds and it looks beautiful. The captions are up now, so if you saw them yesterday and didn't know what things were, you can look again. ^_^

The house is finally DONE! Not only unpacked, but all put together and clean and I like it. ^_^ Of course, next weekend it'll get its Christmas trimmings, so you'll get more photos, but this is how it looks for the time being. I didn't do as much autumn decor as usual because it hasn't seemed right with the warm weather, but I think I'll break out all the Christmas stuff for the fun of it. Anyway, here's the house! Tell me what you think. ^_^

I've added photos to the October 2009 album, so you'll have to go through the older pictures first to see the new. This is driving down the Pali Highway, Bellows Air Force Base beach, and then an overlook near Rabbit Island. ^_^

I've added some photos from the coast where the lava rocks are exposed, as well as some photos from my birthday. I went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay nature preserve and saw a lot of beautiful fish in the reef. The last picture is of one of the green sea turtles seen near the Blowhole, a natural formation on the east coast of Oahu.

Hello! I've added new photos to the "Windward side and the North Shore" album from this weekend, and am about to upload some pictures of the new house (interior). There's a new blog entry, too, with a "walk-through" of the place so you can get an idea what you're seeing. I've also added a video section and am going to put up a quick video of waves at the North Shore so you can see what I was trying to photograph. I'm thinking about a video walk-through of the house, too... ^_^

We're safe and sound in Honolulu, but haven't had much time to explore because of the Navy's paperwork and getting our car and signing up for housing... but I took a handful of pictures during our trip and over the past couple of days that I'll share. Check the blog for more details!

Driving north and west
We left in the early afternoon, but traffic around LA snagged us so that the sun set long before we arrived in Monterey on Friday night.

The landscape is very different in central California; lots of rolling hills and green grass.

Monterey Bay Aquarium: the Open Sea exhibit
On Saturday, we arrived at the aquarium just in time for them to feed their Open Seas exhibit. The swarm of fish are sardines, and they move together through the exhibit like a silver cloud.

The exhibit also houses sharks, other large fish (including tuna) and sea turtles.

This exhibit is designed to look like the native California kept beds, minus the mammals.

We watched a diver feeding some of the fish in the kelp exhibit, and to his (and our) surprise, one of their wolf eels decided to venture out into the water. Usually these guys just hanging out in crevices.

We spent the week mostly working on the grounds of Miracle Ranch Orphanage, or MRO.

This was just cool-- the largest hummingbird I've ever seen in the wild (taken in California before we got to MX).

For breakfast every morning we had a combination of American and Mexican food-- here we have pancakes paired with fried-tortillas-and-eggs with Mexican Frosted Flakes.

Every morning we started with quiet times and small groups with the kids in our group.

This little stand had amazing fish tacos. On Wednesday (mid-week) we got to go into town and shower, plus do a little shopping. It was the only time we were clean while in Mexico.

Dorothy Molter Museum
Dorothy Molter lived in the Bowundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness between the U.S. and Canada. She maintained the area and made rootbeer and was locally famous. When she died in 1986, the locals dismantled her cabin to save it from being destroyed and reassembled it in Ely to make a museum t her memory. They still make her rootbeer there.
