League Of Women Bowlers (LOWB) was formed in September of 2006. Our goal is to promote the sport of bowling. We are a social women's bowling league. Those who enjoy "being in the company of women" are always welcome to join us on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. in Maryland at Rinaldi's Riverdale Lanes.
We have grown from 21 female league members our first season to an amazing 74 members this our 3rd season! There is still room for subs to join us.
LOWB is a sanctioned United States Bowling Congress (USBC) league. We consist of 16 teams of 4 members per team with averages ranging from below 100 to over 180.
Our League Founder CC Ford, encourages the support of our GLBT community. We are currently the Largest East Coast Women's League in the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO) and the only women's league in the Capital Area Rainbowlers Association (CARA).
We hope you join us at some of our social functions throughout the year.

The end of the season tournament held between the 14 CARA Leagues was held in April 2009 and the League Of Women Bowlers team won the tournament with great bowling...Congratulations!
Team members representing our league were Julia-Sharon-Trish-Pooh-CK...this is the first time a new league has won...the first time a women's league has won...the first time a Maryland leaague has won...a lot of "first" for our women's league...the tournament will now be held at our home lanes at Rinaldi's Riverdale Bowl for the 2009-2010 season.
The League Of Women Bowlers is proud to annouce the expansion of our membership in the GLBT Sports Community! Novemeber 15, 2008 we were voted into membership in the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO) at their annual meeting in San Diego California! CC Ford our league Founder was present at the meeting to proudly represent us. Our current membership of 74 women was noted by IGBO to constitute us as their largest East Coast women's league.
At this same meeting the DC 2010 Bid Committee won the vote to host the IGBO Mid-Year Tournament in our nations capital!!! Woohoo!!! This is an enormous honor for the DC Metropolitan Area bowlers and CARA (Capital Area Rainbowlers Association). CC Ford is the Chairperson of the Ladies Social Outreach Committee...the League of Women Bowlers is proud to be the host for the hundreds of international female bowlers that will attend this tournament. We look forward to 2010 with enthusiam and hope you join in on all the fun.
As Founder of the league, I am thrilled to see the promotion of the sport of bowling being accepted so well among the women who've joined us this season...it is my hope that we will continue to grow as we encourage more women to support our efforts to provide a safe and social alternative to Sunday afternoons.
To be recognized as the largest East Coast women's league in IGBO is an honor...as is being the only women's league in our Nations Capital that are members of CARA. I am also proud to be the Ladies Social Outreach Committee Chairperson for the 2010 DC Bid IGBO Mid-Year Tournament. Our league will host the Ladies Social events at this prestigous tournament.
In additional, it is a proud honor to be the first recipient of the "MVP Award" presented by Team DC at their first annual Awards Reception this past September. Honorees were awarded recognition for their outstanding efforts in the GLBT Community with sports teams.
I also won a free entry to the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne Germany where I will once again compete in the bowling competition. In 2006 I was honored with a Bronze Medal for my efforts in bowling competition involving over 800 international bowlers at the Gay Games XVII held in Chicago.
