Joan Stout- 1945
Joan Stout Broadstreet was my Grandmother. I remember her talking about early Selma and how she went to the Teachers College at Ball State. She married Shirley "Bud" Broadstreet, my Grandfather, and they had 4 children; Jan, Jill, Ned and my mom Tanya. Grandma Joan (2008) and Grandpa Bud (1998) have both passed away. I miss them dearly.
Martha Edith Clark, 1941
I sat here today with Martha Clark Cress and she reminisced about various classmates. Somehow, Martha is not listed in the alumni list of the 1967 Retro, nor is she in Wayne Cox's book. I've seen her diploma, and her photo is in the 1941 Aurora, so I wanted to make sure she is listed as a Selma School graduate. Her brother, Don Clark, graduated in 1940.
Ellen Joan Thomas
Called Jo or Joan (pronounced JoAnn), she was a "yell leader" at Selma School. She is also my mother-in-law, but she passed away before I could meet her. I do see a resemblance to her in my children, especially my daughter. I wish I could have known her. Joan graduated from Selma in 1945.
