Hi Donna, did David Bailey get the Athletic sweater  that I brought to the meeting a few months ago?  You were ill and did not show up that evening.  He and his wife were there and they said they would see that you got it.  You may use the sweater any way you wish.  Thought you could  put it with the other jackets you have from Selma.

Re: [Liberty Township Historical Society] Bob Ruble - Class of '48.

Thank you for this note – my Uncle (John T. Gibson – known as Jay or J.T.) was also a graduate of 1948 & a lifelong friend of Bob & Janice Ruble.  I believe he is one who would travel from Ft. Wayne occasionally for breakfast with some of the “old timers”.  Uncle Jay died in 2009 but I believe it was in 2007 that I persuaded him to be my “date” for the alumni dinner held at the Wapahani Middle School.  We had such a GREAT time that evening.  Meeting up with old friends & reconnecting with school mates from “years ago”!  I don’t know if the Historical Society is involved in the planning of an event such as this but it sure is an event to be treasured.

Margaret Toole Youngblood class of 1959

(P.S. I graduated with Nancy Alcorn Wray & have been in touch with her also)

Bob's birthday is Feb 10 if anyone would like to send a card. He is currently residing at 9745 Olympia Dr.  Room 310, Fishers, IN, 46037.  He is doing well. His daughter says he misses his friends so a card would be great. He sees his family members often as they live near where he is staying. Thank you, Nancy Alcorn Wray (class of '59) , also, niece of Janice and Bob Ruble.

Re: Pittengers
Do the names Fanny Garland or Emma Pittenger mean anything to Pittengers from Selma?
Re: Pittengers
I would be very interested in seeing your genealogy.  I know quite a few Pittengers, most of whom have a blood kinship to Lemuel Arthur Pittenger.  In the collection our Museum acquired is the cap & gown, & colored collars designating various degrees, of L.A. Pittenger.  One of my "pet" projects is to do a genealogy of Selma, showing the connections to one another.  Send your genealogy via email to DStaggs45253@aol.com, or via snail mail to LTHS, P. O. Box 9, Selma, IN  47383.  Any photos would appreciated so their characteristics can be compared.
Pittengers
My grandmother was Josephine Pittenger Cecil and was born in a small house on Pittenger Rd.  The house has been razed, but I know that Pittenger Rd. was named for her father Miles. Josephine's mother was Lula Norris. (The Norris family lived in Smithfield and Lulu's father owned a grocery there.) Miles was one of several brothers and sisters.  I have the Pittenger genealogy if anyone is interested.  I think we are related to LA. Perhaps he was a cousin of Miles.

I've received information from Jim Dale Dickover in regards to his family connections and Civil War information.  Here are some excerpts from his info:

Jim writes:

Here's some Civil War information that I have that you might be interested in.  I don't expect I need to mention this, but I'm not trying to advertise my family name.  It's just the info. I have and you're welcome to pull anything out of it that might help your research.

Civil War Letters (two letters by Pvt. Samuel Dickover plus an occasional comment about Pvt. Samuel Dickover and Col. Samuel Williams) (Editor's note:  Click on the Favorite Link on the left to view these 2 letters.)

One of the organizers of the 19th Indiana was my great, great grandfather, Samuel J. Williams.  Col. Williams was killed in the Battle of the Wilderness (Virginia), when a cannon ball caught him while on his horse.  He's buried at White Cemetary in Selma with other Williams, Martins, and Dickover - mostly relatives.  Samuel Dickover survived the war and returned to Selma.

Quote I found at the 19th Indiana reenactor's website
Afternoon July 1st. 1863:
The Battle of Gettysburg:
"Boys, we must hold our colors on this line or lie under them here."  - Colonel Samuel Williams
(The 19th Indiana Regiment is said to have been the first infantry force to engage the enemy at Gettysburg) (Editor's Note:  See the link at left under Favorite Links)

Johnson; maternal grandparents Henry Whicker & Myrtle ??.  Anyone with a connection to this family line is invited to send genealogies to LTHS, P. O. Box 9, Selma, IN  47383.
