Bridges

Peaceful Reflections
This is a bridge at Mount Auburn Cemetery that is famous for being a popular spot to photograph.

Bridge over the Charles
I was going to delete this shot but there is something about it that I kind of like

Goat Bridge
This is just part of a large structure that was built for the goats at Honey Pot Orchard. Unfortunately, none of the goats made it into this picture.

Zakim Bridge
Can't take bridge pictures in Boston and leave this one out! Unfortunately it was a very cloudy and gray day.

Going over the Zakim
Don't worry, I wasn't driving!

Bridges in the past
On my way to work I went under this bridge and when I was at the stop light I looked through my side view mirror and decided to snap a quick photo.

Another day, another bridge
There are a lot of bridges in Boston!

Houdini Bridge
Although this is not a picture of the actual bridge, it is an interesting plaque

Old Railroad Bridge
Not many trains still travel on this...

The 11th photo
I had to include this in my bridge pictures (even though I took it a couple years ago) because it is my favorite acciden tal picture which just happens to be of a bridge. I took it while riding in a car in Charleston, SC and stuck my camera
The Adventures of Percy the Penguin

Percy sets out on his own
Percy was born at the New England Aquarium and had two penguin parents that loved him very much. However, when he was two years old and got his adult feathers he decided to set out on his own.

Percy
He rented a car and not knowing where a penguin should go in Boston he decided to visit his best friend Piper for advice.

Percy and Piper
Piper was very excited to see Percy and told him that he should find a new home. She told him about someone who finds apartments especially for penguins.

Percy
On his way to see the apartment Percy did what everyone does when they move to Boston - buy a Red Sox hat. However, they do not make hats for penguins so he had to settle for the smallest size they had.

Percy
Percy loved his new home and the view from his front porch.

Percy going through the jungle
There was a playground across the street from Percy's apartment but there was a jungle to pass through on the way.

All caught up
Being so small, he sometimes got caught under the chains between the jungle and the playground.

Percy
Percy loved going down the bright blue slide, especially because it reminded him of the bright blue water at the aquarium.

No mail for Percy
Percy began to get lonely and missed his friends at the aquarium. He began to get sad when he would open his mailbox and there was no mail.

Fall arrives
Before Percy knew it Fall had arrived and he was still lonely.

Percy and Penelope!
Luckily, one day at the playground Percy met Penelope. She had just moved to Boston from an aquarium in California and was looking for a penguin friend as well.

Their first date
On their first date Percy and Penelope shared a Diet Coke (their favorite beverage because of the penguins they used to have in their commercials).

Percy and Penelope go for a swim
They also loved swimming in the large sink (one of Percy's favorite places in his apartment).

Searching high and low
Percy was having so much fun with Penelope that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Being a penguin he knew that he had to find her the perfect pebble for her to fall in love with him as well. Percy searched for the pebble high and low.

The pebble!
Finally, Percy found the perfect pebble and presented it to Penelope. She loved it and at that point knew that Percy was the penguin for her.

The wedding
Penelope got dressed up in her favorite necklace and Percy bought the most beautiful flower he could find. Their wedding was the most amount of fun either of them had ever had.

And then there were 3...
A couple months after the wedding Penelope and Percy had a baby. They were excited to meet Paige....or will it be Patrick?

Life is funny!
Until their next adventure Percy and Penelope wanted to remind you to laugh a little because life is funny.

Cemetery

Henry and David Baldwin.jpg
This cross was on top of a joined gravestone for two brothers who died within two years of each other. Henry was 31 and David was 27.

Flowers and Graves
The joining of landscaping and graves made this cemetery beautiful and gave visitors a sense of peacefulness.

Not your average grave
I enjoyed the originality of this gravestone and the contrast it has with the surrounding ivy.

Forever loyal
This life size dog is laying on the front of a grave for William F. Harnden. He began 'the most innovative private postal company' called 'the express business' in Boston in 1839. His system had door to door pickup and delivery between Bost

Shedding Tree

Lock behind the Cross
A lock on the door of one of the mausoleums was hidden by a cross.

Mother & Daughter
With so many gravestones being shared by husband and wife it was interesting to see one shared by a mother and daughter.

Pink rock in a field of gray
A rock and a name - I like how untouched and simple this grave is being surrounded mostly by carved gray stones.

Four Graves and Four Trees
In this cemetery there is a refreshing blend of nature and gravestones and in this picture I liked the symmetry of the two.

Inside a Dark Mausoleum
One of twelve mausoleums all in a row that were built into the side of a hill. I stuck my camera through the carved out door and with no flash got this picture in a pitch black room. Personally, I find it a little scary.
