First Step....
The first step in learning something new is always a baby one....for me at least. My biggest challenge so far is learning how to manually focus. You really have to train your eye! And well, do it quick enough to actually catch the photo your attempting to get. It's interesting and challenging to find that balance.
My Inspiration
When I spent time out at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital with my brother 3 years ago it was an emotional roller coaster. One day I tossed my Mamaw my camera and I told her to snap a couple pictures. She caught this picture of my brother and I sitting on his hospital bed. He was preparing to go to Physical Therapy and I believe he had just told a corny joke or something that created the grin that lays on his face. I love this photo and it's a real inspiration to me. I think in some way it captures the emotions that so many families go through when their loved ones are hurt at war. My brother, the comic relief in the photo, emaciated from pain killers but upbeat and thankful he's alive and me, the worried sister trying to remain upbeat also but the stress and strain that I had on me those 30 or so days was very evident in my face. I've never had a photo speak to me as much as this one. So thanks Mamaw for the quick snapshot that will forever mean so much to me!
