Lucille M Thorne
Although I did not know Lucille - I can see the influence she had on the Woodcarvers Club. May I offer my condolences to the family, club members and friends!
Lucille M. Thorne
AMHERST — Lucille M. Thorne (nee: Rudd), 76 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed peacefully into the arms of the Father surrounded by her loving husband and her family on Sunday, June 20, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born November 27, 1933 in Valley Bend, West Virginia. Lucille had made her home in the Amherst area for the last forty years. Lucille was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She along with her husband John co-owned the Woodcarvers Cove in South Amherst. Lucille attended the former Church of the Nazarene in Lorain. She was a lifetime member of the Lorain County Woodcarvers Club where she organized the Golden Crescent Woodcarving shows in Northern Ohio.
Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her husband of fifty-six years John Thorne Jr.; her sons Dennis A. Thorne of Windsor, Colorado, Devin L. Thorne of Dacono, Colorado, Dean A. Thorne of Kewaunee, Wisconsin; her daughter Denia Thorne Richard and her fiancé Jerry Gaspar of Brook Park; her grandchildren Amanda, Danya, Megan, Devona, Danei, Darek and Sam; two great grandchildren; and her sister Nina P. Saunders of Charles Town, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her brothers James Rudd, Daris Rudd, Theodore Rudd, and Charles Rudd; her sisters Blanch Elizabeth Lewis, Helen Lieb, Cleva Houge, Cleo Light; and by her parents William G. and Pearl Rudd (nee: Asbury).
Friends may call Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society; North Regional Office; 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106.
