I AM ALSO KNOWN AS FATHER JIM AND OCCASIONALLY HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH YOU. AN HONOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WAS SO INSPIRED BY YOUR ARTICLE IN THE CHEROKEE LEDGER THAT I WENT TO THEIR OFFICE AND GOT 20 COPIES AND GAVE EACH MEMBER OF MY BIBLE STUDY A COPY AND READ IT AND SPENT A SESSION ON WHY CELIBACY IS THE ISSUE. NO ONE, NO ONE IN MY BIBLE STUDY DISAGREES WITH THE FACT THAT CELIBACY IS THE ISSUE AND THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS BEEN TELLING THE CHURCH TO MAKE CELIBACY OPTIONAL FOR CENTURIES.



I AM AN ORDAINED CATHOLIC PRIEST WHO PASTORED 20 YEARS AND TAUGHT LATIN 20 YEARS AND THEN RETIRED FROM THE MINISTRY WITHOUT A BISHOP. IT IS A NEW DISPENSATION THAT WAS ALLOWED IN THE MID-90'S. MY CLASS OF SEMINARIANS (I WAS A RELIGIOUS ORDER MAN) CONSISTED OF ABOUT 30, ALL OF WHOM FELT CALLED THE THE PRIESTHOOD. HOWEVER, 24 LEFT TO MARRY AND HAVE A FAMILY BEFORE THEY WERE ORDAINED AND ONLY 6 OF US WERE ORDAINED. IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE HOW 24 PERSON WHO FELT A CALLING FROM THE LORD TO THE CATHOLIC PRIESTHOOD, COULD EVER BE EXCLUDED BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO MARRY. IT IS INEXPLICABLY UNCONSCIONABLE THAT THIS STILL TAKES PLACE. I NEED NOT BE TELLING YOU THIS, BUT HOW MANY THOUSANDS LIKE MY CLASSMATES, WERE EXCLUDED FROM THE MINISTRY AND ALL THE TALENTS, GIFTS AND GOOD THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE, MIGHT HAVE BEEN DONE, HAD THEY BEEN ALLOWED. THEY DID NOT WANT TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND SOME WERE AWESOME PREACHERS AND PERSONALITIES. CHE PECCATO!!



I ADMIRE YOUR WORK AND YOUR DECISION TO DO YOUR MINISTRY AND MRS KING WHO SENT YOU HER MESSAGE IS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS IN LIFE. I LOVE RETIREMENT, BUT STILL DO SOME WORK FOR THE LORD. I HAVE AN EMAIL MINISTRY TO HUNDREDS AND SEND THEM MEDITATIONS ONCE A WEEK. I HAVE AN EMAIL AND CONVENTIONAL GREETING CARD MINISTRY ESP. FOR THE ELDERLY AND A PHONE MINISTRY TO HUNDREDS I ONCE SERVED AND WHO ENDED UP ON MY CHRISTMAS CARD MINISTRY. IT IS JUST ENOUGH TO HELP THE LORD SPREAD HIS LOVE.

The article in the Cherokee Life paper was absolutely beautiful..I love your wife and family although we have never met...I am a practicing catholic originally growing up in the church of England..My early days I remember our Vicar and his family.like yourself he loved the Lord and hid family . He was such a dear and special man.....It is high time for our clergy to be able to be loving parents and spouses..

May God bless you always.....and hug your darling wife for me....My husband is a non practicing catholic. but neverthe less a truly good man...we have been married 40 years...I hope you do not get any negative letters from people.....With great love and thanks to you anf your family for your beautiful ministry...liz king

The Reverend James or 'Father Jim' as he is referred to by friends and family was an active ministry priest for 15 years before leaving the active ministry and marrying his wife Jackie. They have been married for 37 years. Since leaving the active ministry Jim has worked as an eduction advisor to the Department of Defense Race Relations Institute and as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist for the U.S. Navy. In 1984, he took early retirement and moved to Maine with his wife and three children, to run a Bed and Breakfast Inn on the coast and start the area Chamber of Commerce. It wasn't until 2001 that Jim heard of CITI ministries and the opportunity to return to his calling. CITI is an organization of validly ordained married priests who serve those who have found themselves marginalized by the Catholic Church. He is able to perform marriages for couples who have become frustrated with the Catholic institution or have decided for any number of reasons to stop practicing in the church itself. Often times these couples are not both Catholic or have had a specific reason for not wanting a wedding in a Catholic church, but still request the spiritual part of the religious ceremony. Father Jim is able to offer just that for couples who live in the Atlanta area. He does require that the couples meet with him at least three times, to make sure he knows what they want in the ceremony and to help the couple get ready for this wonderful commitment.
