The old kitchen. This view is from the office above the kitchen. To the right of the peninsula is the doorway into the kitchen from the hallway/main entrance. CIMG1946.JPG 2009-04-27

02. CIMG1947.JPG
View of old kitchen from doorway into kitchen. Original slider to deck. The flow was very congested here. CIMG1947.JPG 2009-04-27

03. CIMG1948.JPG
The old sink wall. You had to have that chair on the ned of the peninsula placed specifically if you wanted to open the dishwasher. These cabinets were original to the home, built in 1969/70. CIMG1948.JPG 2009-04-27

04. CIMG1949.JPG
We added the peninsula in 1994 - taking out a large pantry cabinet that used to be in that space - and adding the pantry cabinet to the left of the refrigerator. It added some much needed counter space, but boy does it looked crammed there!CIMG1949.JPG 2009-04-27

05. CIMG1950.JPG
Range wall. There really was no working counter space near the range. I usually used the peninsula for prep, and it was only 2.5 steps to the stove, but I always seemed to be dropping or spilling stuff. Also, blind cabinets in the corner, need I say more? CIMG1950.JPG 2009-04-27

06. CIMG1951.JPG
The "new" pantry cabinet. Even though you can clearly see that it doesn't match the other cabinets, no one ever really noticed. This thing held A LOT of stuff. CIMG1951.JPG 2009-04-27

07. CIMG1952.JPG
Even with the pantry cabinet, I never seemed to have a place for the cereal and bread stuff - I really did not want it on top of my refrigerator ever again. CIMG1952.JPG 2009-04-27

Picture of the cabinet under the peninsula, "new", it held all my pots and pans. CIMG1954.JPG 2009-04-27

10. CIMG1955.JPG
Belive it or not, that skinny cabinet held quite a bit of cookies sheets, pizza pans, etc. But it was a bear getting them in and out. CIMG1955.JPG 2009-04-27

11. CIMG1956.JPG
The chairs. What should have been an eat in area - although I don't know how, it would have been way too small and rather awkward, I turned into a comfy nook. The #1 thing people said they would miss in my kitchen. CIMG1956.JPG 2009-04-27

16. Peninsula.jpg
Here's the big change - removing two walls, and flipping the peninsula to be on the other side. Peninsula.jpg 2009-08-19

17. patio door.jpg
We put on an outswing patio door to replace the slider. patio door.jpg 2009-08-19

18. stairs and door.jpg
One of the things that is noticible in this picture is that the door nob on the entry door to the hallway has flipped. We changed the swing of the door to open to the kitchen, and it has been one of those HUGE impact changes - so much easier! stairs and door.jpg 2009-08-19
