There are several tools an owner can use to make maltese training easy – one of which is crate. It is undeniably true that some pet owners believe that the use of crate during training is inhumane and harsh. But what they don't know is the fact that the crate is actually helpful in attaining positive training result.

So how does crate training works? Let's take for instance the dogs in the wild. Though they thrive outdoors, they still prefer to sleep in their own safe place called den – shallow holes  they dug in the soil. The holes, just big enough for a dog to turn around in and lie down, are frequently located in dark areas, safe from predators and extreme climate conditions. Same goes with domesticated dogs. Though they've been thriving with humans, the need for a den-like setting remains up to these days. Meaning to say, crating a dog isn't harsh because you are simply providing him with what he needs. Just use it correctly so that your precious pooch will associate it with fun and comfort, not punishment and isolation.

Aside from providing your pet with his own comfort zone, here are other reasons for teaching your pet to get used to crate during maltese training:

• Crate is helpful during housebreaking. Dogs don't like to soil their sleeping area hence they would try to “hold it until taken to the location you chose as their toilet. Doing so regularly will help your family pet develop desirable potty routine.
• Crate keeps your pet safe even if he's left alone at home. He won't be able to gain access to unsafe areas of the house such as kitchen where the waste can is placed or the living room where there are electric wires he might gnaw.
• Your house is safe from your dog. If you have a pet that has a tendency to chew or dig, leaving him on his own is more likely to lead to chewed or soiled furniture, holes in the lawn or scrapes on the wall.
• Crate makes traveling with pets fun and easy.
