Life's Journey

Many a time we travel to unknown places - countries far from our own, cities, some remote towns and obscure villages or even simply, an eatery right in the middle of the city center - not knowing the surroundings or anyone in particular.

At times we fear of the unknown but if we care to listen with - our heart, a sharp mind and a keen eye - we soon learn that this is the perfect route to knowledge.

I was having a late morning walk in the area where I lived when I saw this yellow wall. It wasn't a very hot morning so the yellow paint on the building looked nice and warm that I flipped my instamatic out of my bag to get a shot. I only had ONE shot because it was a kindergarten and I didn't want the teachers thinking I was up to some mischief. Well, one wall made my morning! Wink

The Vibrancy Of Paper Lanterns

One of the things I loved doing while living in Singapore was to hop on to the bus to get to the MRT stations before going on foot to catch the sights and sounds of the city.

In this collection of photos, I shot some street scenes during the Lantern Festival. It is at this time of the year you get to see all kinds of paper lanterns in both traditional and modern designs sold to attract children mainly.

In Siglap, where these shots were taken, there is a small residential open market area where the local community frequent.

Various food courts and small traders selling knick knacks set their business in the area where they trade their wares. Siglap is a small neighbourhood in Bedok, in the Eastern part of Singapore.

These images I captured serve as one of the beautiful experiences I've enjoyed while living in Singapore. I hope they give you an idea of the local flavour.

SINGAPORE - Quaint Chinese Temple

The photo below is of another Chinese Temple in Singapore. By the looks of its exterior it appears to be older than the one featured above. It is also less glamourous but very very interesting due to its uniquely traditional design. A pity I was only on the grounds because the caretaker wasn't around to let me enter the temple itself. Will definitely return one day to take more shots.
