Why Drums?

A brief history

I am an engineering grad who grew up in a wood shop and in front of a stereo.

I love music and have been playing drums for over 8 years.

I started messing around restoring used drums because I couldn't afford anything new. They came out so well that I continued...

I now have a shop with tools and equipment specifically for drum restoration and building.

I have invested a lot of years taking lessons, practicing, mastering drum tuning, restoring drums, building custom drums and maple hoops.

All of my research and development equates to great sounding high quality drums and hoops built by someone who knows how.

I want to extend my knowledge to clients by working on or building their drums for a fair and reasonable investment.

Questions or comments? Feel free to contact me.

Take Care,
Joshua Jackson

That Custom Snare's RAD! Are you selling it??
5/15/2009 6:26:48 AM - 002060794681
A lot of drum companies make snares with off-set lugs. All you have to do is use smaller tension rods. Here's a link: http://www.egodrumsupply.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=53&stc=1&d=1174955893

Hand Made 36 Ply Maple Hoops on Custom Snare

36 Ply Maple Hoops
36 Ply Maple Hoops
Each maple hoop carefully handcrafted, 36 ply, 100% maple drum hoops made right here in CA.

These are Yamaha style, but these hoops hide the metal rim of the drum head.

Maple hoops give your snare a deep warm wooden sound.

Here's a list of artists that use maple hoops: Billy Cobham, Anton Fig, Steve Gadd, Akiro Jimbo, Elvin Jones, Airto Moreira.

Your rim shot is your drum stick on wood, not on metal, and it gives it a very natural and "fat" sound, more like a wood block.

These hoops are way very durable and fit tight around your drum.

feel free to call me or email me with any questions.

I can make these hoops custom sizes for toms and snares.

This drum had New England White wrap that was peeling and hardware that was rusted with pitting.
On the shell I removed the wrap, removed the glue, sanded , then lacquered.
The hardware took some major elbow grease to get the rust off, the luckily the pitting isn't major.
