Note the difference of color in the bass drum. It has had more exposure to the elements.

Bass Drum
Whew!

Floor Tom
not too too bad

Bass Drum Lug Screw
Gives an idea of how much deterioration was on THE INSIDE of the drum.

Bass Drum Lug
Scary pitting (like termites to wood!)

Bass Drum Edge
Bad

coming apart and flat

I few of these tension rods needed straightening, luckily none broke.

On the left you can see a bent tension rod.

This tom has some deep gouges in the wrap.

There wasn't a break from all the rust

Doctors Office
The bass drum was splitting badly and had a flat spot. I cut some radius jigs to get it back to round.

Bass Drum Edge Clamping
Here is a close up of the clamping to get the bass drum edge back together and round.

re-cut and sanded edges

Bass Drum & Floor Tom Hardware
All of the Bass Drum hardware is severely deteriorated but now functioning and clean.

Cleaned up hardware
notice the dull back row of hardware from the bass drum

Bass Drum Claws
Not shiny but functioning and clean

Bass Drum Claw
This is the worst of the worst. The deterioration was severe. There were 3 that were fused together by rust. With the help of wd 40 and work I was able to save two.

Lugs
The dull looking lugs on the right were on the bass drum. The bass drum was by far in the most need of work, drum and hardware. These lugs had the worst pitting I have ever seen!

Muffle levers
These came out very nice!

Floor Tom Leg Holders
These had rust and pitting too but came out shiny

New heads tuned and ready to play!
You can notice the difference in color in the bass drum. This tells us it's had more exposure to the elements.

Brian's Restored Kit Set Up

Brian's Restored Kit Set Up

1976 or 1977 16x16 Rogers Floor Tom
This drum had New England White wrap that was peeling and hardware that was rusted with pitting.
On the shell I removed the wrap, removed the glue, sanded , then lacquered.
The hardware took some major elbow grease to get the rust off, the luckily the pitting isn't major.

Rogers Hardware
Here is a close up of the pitting on the hardware.

Breather hole unfilled.

Internal Hardware
Since every single screw and washer was rusted, I replaced them all with rubber washers and news screws. I also repainted the inside an off white to match the outside more (before it was speckled gray).

16x16 Rogers Floor Tom
I like how this drum has a mosaic of wood grains that meet up.

Masked Tama Rockstar Bass Drum
This is a Tama Rockstar Bass Drum I had lying around unused. I opted to remove the wrap and paint some stripes over the poplar shell.

Painted Tama Rockstar Bass Drum
Black paint to accent the long chrome hardware

not bad for some cheap black Krylon paint
