Welcome! On September 17, 2009, a group of 13 adventurous souls set out halfway across the world to Malawi, a small, landlocked country in the middle of the African continent. Our objectives were threefold: establish a partnership with a sister church in Lisinjala, in Mulanje District in the Blantyre CCAP Synod, observe microfinance activities conducted in Malawi by Opportunity International, and discuss water options with groups there, including a successful shallow well program. Along the way, we learned more about the wonderful people of Malawi, each other and ourselves.
Just 10 months later, another group of 20 folks from Champaign traveled again to Malawi. This group was able to see a completed well, a school building, and some teachers' residences, all evidence of how crazy things happen when a few people go outside their comfort zone and let God take them halfway across the world.
In 2011, two groups returned, one in July and another in September. The July group enjoyed watching the dedication of a new church building and reuniting with our brothers and sisters there. We hope that everyone can enjoy this pictures and be as inspired as those who took them. Our pictures are in albums on the corresponding page on this site; the more recent trips have their own tab at the top of the page, and older trips have tabs under "More." Hopefully, there will be many more pages to come!
