Cullen's Archangel RescuE, Inc. (CARE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue group formed in late 2003. Our mission is to educate the community about pet care, help animals in need, decrease the amount of strays in our community, and provide shelter for animals who are in need of adoption; including those who are considered 'non-adoptable'.
While most of the animals we rescue are cats and dogs, we also rescue farm animals and exotic pets such as birds, reptiles, and rodents. All donations are tax deductible.

May 7, 2012
Just before their 2nd birthday, Muffin unexpectedly passed away. We were devastated by this shock to our family. PJ has been extremely sad without his sister, friend and playmate. Although we know Muffin is with our sweet Jonesy in Heaven, it still saddens us to know she was taken from this earth so soon.
Muffin was the most loveable kitty. She would always greet you with a meow from the upstairs foyer and give you a head roll to let you know she wanted you to love on her. She spent many of nights curled up on my legs sleeping soundly and loved any attention you would give her.
Most days you would hear her and PJ running the halls chasing each other and playing. They weren't ever separated a day of their lives, so it has been an adjustment for PJ - now known as "Pajama Bottoms" to us!
Today he was introduced to the other felines in the house on his leash - otherwise he would run up to them wanting to play and his version of play is paws waving in the air like you just don't care. Our older felines aren't quite sure how to take it. We are hoping that PJ and Kinley will become close - they are both kittens at heart and very playful. The two of them are also closest in age, although Kinley has a few years on him (but you would never know it). She was flirting with him from under the couch tonight and would just show her nose enough to get him wanting to go after her. It was cute - but had to come to an end.
As I write this, the other kitties are in their room for bedtime and we left PJ out with kitty gates separating them. Kinley is at the gate crying to him...or me and I am sure he is just intensely watching into their room wanting to play - or completely sacked out from his exciting field trip adventure. We are going to continue to integrate them until they are all used to being out together. It was a good day for PJ because he was able to have real interaction with other cats, which he so desparately needed.
PJ has become super sweet and actually a talker since his sister is gone. He has ventured into her room a few times, but adjusting to the fact she isn't in the house any longer. We haven't been able to make him a lap cat, but he will lay at your feet and watch the birds from the window and rubs heads with you to let you know how much he appreciates and loves you. And don't get me started on his red "feather nub" on a wand - he is obsessed with it and could play all day and night if you let him.
Everything happens for a reason, although devastating and unknown as to why at times, but we will get through it and are doing our best to focus on the well being of her brother, PJ.

Updated Bios:
Muffin and PJ were adopted out to a loving family with two dogs. PJ became the boxer's best friend and would often be found cuddling up with him on the couch. Unfortunately, the boxer was severely allergic to the kittens and even with medication, they had to be separated. PJ and Muffin were returned to us by a very sad family - as they had become very attached over the month they had them.
Since their return to us (foster parents), both kitties have grown and developed even greater personalities. Both PJ and Muffin think they are the neighborhood watch cats and sit in the window all day/evening greeting the neighbors and pets as they go by.
Muffin has come out of her shell and is very social and seeks love from humans. We saw this increase even more after she was spayed. She loves to play with her brother PJ and would be lost without him. Muffin continues to carry her mice and other toys around with her and is also known to feed and water them (puts them in each dish) as if she were their mama cat. Muffin enjoys playing, eating treats and laying on my back as I watch tv. She is so adorable, sweet and loving.
PJ has continued to grow and was over 9lbs at his last vet appt to get neutered. He is the most gentle giant and is known for always rubbing his head up against mine and climbing in my lap - leaning into me and craving to be loved and petted under his belly. He will curl up with me and just stare at me. PJ loves human interaction and is very curious and playful. "Peej" as he is often referred to still loves to climb high and just watch you down below.
Both PJ and Muffin have their bedroom with a view and often get "fieldtrips" to the screen porch, man room or time to run around then entire house (when our jealous kitties are in their rooms). They adapt very easily to new areas and thrive when given the opportunity to run around and chase each other. You can often hear them chasing each other in their room or up and down the stairs. Muffin tends to follow PJ, but she is not afraid to play by herself or explore while he is interested in something else.
They are both very sweet, loving and playful kitties that need a forever family that will provide them with lots of love and attention - not to mention some meat cat food and treats at night...that goes a long way with them!!! Both of them like to cuddle and will often sleep on me while I am watching tv, but also have their own areas where they will sleep if they so choose. If we were able, these two would be kitties of our own - but we already have a house full of jealous fur babies.
It will only take a little time with PJ and Muffin for them to steal your heart. They need the opportunity to run around a house and be around human companionship outside of "their room" more often. They will be great companions to their forever family and each other, so we will only consider adopting them out together.
Muffin has the most adorable baby face. We fell in love with her pudgy ski slope nose and her eye markings that look like tear drops. She is the most gentle of the group. Muffin doesn't hesitate to get in the mix and play rough with her siblings, but you can also find her prancing around the room with her pink & white mouse just like a little girl. Watch out - if one of her siblings tries to take her mouse, she will keep it in her mouth, run around the room and has been known to growl at them a time or two. It's so funny, because she is such a sweet kitty and wouldn't hurt a thing. Often she will sit back and watch the other play and then pounce in at the last minute. She is a very patient little one. Muffin loves human attention and often seeks it out. Her favorite thing is to chase the "rollie" ball around the circle (cat toy) and to pounce on her siblings playing in a kitty tent.
Muffin would love to be paired with her brother PJ, but would also do ok by herself or fit in with her siblings. She has been the most timid in the past, but has definitely come out of her shell. If she were to go by herself, she would need lots of human led play and cuddle time to get her initially adjusted and then she would be well adjusted. Muffin was the mama cat's shadow and playing is what helped her turnaround. Ever since then she has been a very people loving, playful kitten. She doesn't show any signs of being timid now (unless she is exposed to someone new or a new place) - it may be her initial tendency and it will take time for her to revert back to being comfortable.
Muffin is the kitten who was most fasinated by the water fountain in the bathroom. She circles around the sink chasing her tail and playing with the drain hole and also drink from the running water stream. She was very timid during her field trip, but has not stopped purring since she returned.
PJ is gentle giant of the group. He is the largest and will continue grow into a large cat - his paws go to show that! As a small kitten, he would hiss at me from the cat house/bushes and then would sneak around behind me to get some love. It only took one pet for him to roll over and let me pet his belly until he fell asleep. He is a very gentle boy and will stop in the middle of play for some scratch on his neck or rub on his ears. He will fall asleep in your arms if you let him. PJ also loves to just stare at you - he just sits and watches me for several minutes at a time. You can always find him on the highest toys or landings hanging out watching the group - then cat naps. He is a sucker for any type of human love. He sleeps at my feet a lot.
PJ loves to play, look out the window and cuddle with his siblings. He is often found cuddling with at least one of them...which ultimately leads to some group playtime and then a cat nap together. He will make a great companion for his family - with or without other kitties and would love to be paired with Muffin.
PJ has become a playful little boy. Not to mention he has become obsessed with his new string/rope and will play with it non-stop and pouts when the others steal it from him!!
