Happy Spring everyone!
2nd grade has been enjoying the warm weather by moving our recesses outside! I have added pictures of some of the kiddos playing out at recess. I hope to add the other classes pictures tomorrow!
Just a reminder that tomorrow night is Conference night, and Mrs. Swanson and I are excited to report on all the progress your student has made so far this year.
Tomorrow is also Family Literacy Night and the theme is Eric Carle. There will also be a Scholastic Book Fair going on in the Commons.
Family Movie Night is this Friday, they are showing "HOP" at 7 PM.
OST Field Trip for K-2 this Friday at Union Square to go swimming! Students brought home permission slips yesterday 3/20, if the permission slips are not signed, kiddos won't be able to attend. Don’t forget to pack their swimsuit and towel!
Oh dear! It seems like this 3rd quarter has flown by! We begin our 4th quarter adventure on the 15th of this month. I have let the kiddos know that at the end of this week, we will be taking the number lines and 100's chart down. I am encouraging all students to practice their facts and strategies to help them with this transition. With hard work and practice I have confidence that all of second grade will master their addition and subtraction facts!
Just a reminder that we will be making up the two missed school days on the 5th and 10th of April, that is a Wednesday and Tuesday respectively.
Conferences are on the 22nd of March starting at 2:00 and ending at 7:00. That is also the night of Family Literacy Night and that goes from 5:30-7:30. It should be a fun packed night at ESDS!
We apologize for not posting sooner, but we have been busy being awesome in our classes! Miss Button is so proud of the behavior of all the students and how hard they are working. Today we just started Chapter 10 Place Value to 1,000! This chapter has some tough vocabulary and skills, but Miss Button is confident that they will succeed.
The rest of Febuary is pretty slow for 2nd Grade, Picutre Day is tomorrow, look your best!!!!
This Friday the 24th, is Winter Fun Day and Family Movie Night. They are showing Puss in Boots
Moday the 27th is Student of the Month.
Tune in for more updates!
Happy New Year everyone! 2nd grade wishes you well this new year!
We are very busy in 2nd grade starting our Science Fair project for the math and science night here at school. We are also wrapping up our science time and getting ready to start Social Studies at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. It is hard to believe that the year is half over! In math we are finishing up telling time and starting measurement!
The last week of school before Winter Break was a busy one for second grade, we received coats, became TV stars :), and worked a Christmas store. (Pictures coming soon!)
Thanks to the Sioux Falls Firefighters Local 814 and Faith United Presbyterian Church, the 2nd grade and the rest of the school received large donations of winter clothing! We are very excited about now being able to go outside with our new winter clothes. Pidamayaye to those who donated! KSFY heard about the donation and wanted to do a news story (here is the link to read the story and to watch!
http://www.ksfy.com/story/16358045/enemy-swim-students-receive-much-needed-winter-clothing ) 2nd grade was excited to be on TV.
2nd grade also ran a store for the students of the other grades to come in and "buy" Christmas gifts for their families. Each student that came was given a school money dollar and was able to shop. This gave the 2nd graders a chance to use their new skills of adding and subtracting money and identifying coins. A big thank you to1st, 3rd, and 5th for attending our Chirstmas shop!
