It’s never too early — or too late — to take your heart into your own hands. Talk to your doctor about your personal risk so that you can take action to lower it.
Since the age of five, I have seen the people I love so dearly struggle with Heart Disease. It was never out of the ordinary for an ambulance to come to my home any hour of the day or night. Heart Disease is prevalent on both the paternal and maternal sides of my family, and I have witnessed both of my grandfathers struggle to beat this deadly disease. My father has five stents in his heart, my maternal grandfather has had a heart attack and my paternal grandfather has suffered heart attacks and strokes too numerous to count, and has endured two open heart surgeries; the first of which was when he was only 51 years old, which is merely thirty years older than I am now! My mom, who has had kidney problems since she was a baby, had high blood pressure which lead to a diagnosis to a narrowing in her renal artery, which is the artery that carries blood to her kidney. Fortunately, due to the immense money raised for research by the AHA she has a stent in her renal artery and her blood pressure is now normal. Raising funds for this remarkable organization has touched everyone in my family and I hope that my efforts will help others too!
I am on a quest to make a difference by helping to fight this deadly disease. I am working so hard not to allow this disease to attack my body. I pray that my future family will never have to know what it is like to live with this deadly disease! Please consider helping me with my mission by making a generous donation to the AHA on my behalf. It is because of money raised by the AHA that life saving stents were invented, and my dad is alive today because of them!
Each day research supported by the AHA get closer and closer to new drugs and procedures that may save the life of someone you love too!
One way I am fighting heart disease and stroke by participating in the American Heart Association’s Start! Heart Walk. Please support this cause by making a donation that will help provide research and education to stop our No. 1 and No. 3 killers. The statistics show that one day it WILL save the life of someone you know of love too! Thank you in advance for your support!
Each year, the work of the AHA yields fresh insights that fuel the development of new medications, new surgical techniques, new treatment regimens and new recommendations for preventing heart disease. From conditions affecting the very young, to heart disease and stroke resulting from age-related factors, they are there to help reduce your risk and the risk of those you love. I ask for your support, on their behalf as the AHA continues to look for new ways to keep your heart-healthy and strong!

The day begins with set up at 9:00 AM. This year, each bidder received a lovely world travel digest. After unwrapping the "shrink wrap" from each book, I tied lovely "GO RED" ribbons around each.
Back again by 5:30 to meet and greet and model jewelry. Thousands of dollars was raised for the Triangle Chapter of the AHA. Cars, trips to all corners of the US and beyond, and even an opportunity to have Shack O' Neal's personal chef come to your home and cook for a party of 25!
Another memorable event! By the way, one of the pictures is with the surgeon that saved my mom's life. Dr. Satcher places stents into clogged arteries. My mom has one in her renal artery leading to her kidney! I hugged his neck and got the opportunity to thank him personally. Along with my father's heart disease (five stents in his heart), both my maternal and paternal grandfathers have had heart attacks and one has had several strokes. I have lived with heart disease in my family for as long as I can remember. I feel so honored when I can give back to the people and the AHA who have on so many occasions, saved the ones I love so dearly!

I want to pursue my platform and continue to tell my story and hopefully save lives along the way by encouraging everyone to go see their doctor and find out if they are in danger of having a cardiovascular event!
Every two minutes, someone has a heart attack and only half survive. Heart disease is the number one killer among American
men and women and continues to increase each year. Heart disease is a reality, whether it is genetic or lifestyle related. While there is no cure for heart disease, there are ways to reduce your risk of developing it later in life.
Heart disease has been diagnosed on both sides of my family. I fight for my life each and every day due to my genetic predisposition. My goal is to reach out to thousands of people by the end of my reign as Miss Johnston County 2007, spreading
the message that it is never too late to begin living a heart-healthy lifestyle.

While reviewing autopsies of 760 young men and women, arterial blockage was found in 2% of the 15- to 19-year-old boys. Although this percentage was tiny, the researchers were surprised to see any blockages at all in people of that age group. This alarming statistic is growing each and every year! It must be stopped!![]()
