School to Home Newsletter - Sept.
Our school year is off to a great start! Your child will be learning many new important skills this year. I’ve listed some suggestions below of how you can help your child be successful.
- Help your child develop a love for reading by reading aloud. Reading aloud is valuable even when students can read on their own.
- Help your child get a library card. Encourage your child to set aside a time for reading each day.
- Establish a “home office” for you child where he/she can do homework. Perhaps you can supply some office supplies like paper, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, and so on.
- Establish a container or place where your child puts all the items that must be taken to school. This helps children become better organized.
- Ask your child to tell you about the schoolwork he/she brings home in their dark blue Keep at Home folder. Take time to look through schoolwork with your child.
We are partners in your child’s learning. Helping your child is important and fun for everyone!
Family Friday Reading
Please come join us on Friday mornings from 8:25-8:45am for a relaxing reading time with your child. The students love having parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles reading with them in their classrooms. To participate, you just need a TB test and Parent Volunteer Application on file with the office. Hope to see you next Friday!
Forms from the office and classroom
Thank you for taking the time to fill out all the forms we sent home this week. I know there is a lot, but it's very important that we receive them all by next week. Thank you so much for your support!
Open House
Thanks to all the parents who were able to make it to Open House tonight. If you weren't able to attend, I'll be sending home papers that were discussed on Wednesday with your child.
Pictures on our class website
I will be posting photos of some of the learning activities that your child is participating in during class time. Please check back here to see what is going on in 2nd grade.
