Mommy Bootie Camp is a group exercise class designed for the busy mom. Children of all ages are always WELCOME! The kids enjoy a built-in playdate with each other while the mommies get a great workout at the same time. The one hour class follows an interval format that alternates resistance training with cardio bursts, in addition to yoga/pilates exercises and stretching. The ladies who take Mommy Bootie Camp come in all sizes, shapes and fitness levels. The class is challenging for the advanced 'gym rat' and perfect for the beginner who is ready to start a new program. The class is similar to a traditional boot camp because we focus on basic exercises to raise our heart rate and burn calories....but it's so much more! Every class is different, we workout to fun music and it is a very laid back atmosphere. No whistles, no yelling, no finger pointing. Mommy Bootie Camp has several payment options that make it easy and affordable for every busy mom's schedule. If you want to lose weight, maintain your current weight, tone-up, increase your energy level or just feel better....this class is for YOU! Your first class is FREE! No excuses...come check us out and make the change!
Classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Payment information and more details below.
Cardio Core Classes are held Wednesday mornings at 10am. Cardio Core is a great way to widdle that middle and burn some serious calories. The class includes cardio bursts, core work, flexibility exercises and yoga/pilates stretching. Say goodbye to the 'muffin top' for good!!

Re: What's your FAVORITE healthy go-to recipe for dinner?
Awesome! I've done the same thing w/ broccoli (after roasting, I drizzle with lemon juice, add some lemon zest, and toasted pinenuts as well). I'll have to use other veggies next time I do this!
I'm out of town, but when I get back, I'll post my recipe for crockpot Chicken Marrakesh. It's divine, super healthy and easy to make!

Re: What's your FAVORITE healthy go-to recipe for dinner?
I ROAST an entire LARGE cookie sheet of vegetables every night. You can do one, two or 10 different veggies. I preheat the oven to 425. Line a cookie sheet with non-stick foil and start chopping. I cut all the veggies in similar size pieces. (remember they shrink greatly) I love brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, squash, zucchini, peppers, mushroom, onions and tomatoes. I drizzle them with EVOO, salt, pepper and garlic powder. I cook half way through (approx 10 minutes) and flip. Roast a few more minute til desired consistency. I love them all crispy. I top with parm and chopped green onions and voila!
* I put the roasted tomatoes, peppers and onions on top of chicken, fish and egg white omelet!
*I put 1/3 of the veggies in a bowl for my lunch the next day. They take 2 minutes in the micro and its awesome to add to a meal or snack.
Cheers!
K
Weight Loss/Healthy Eating Tools
Hey guys!
I thought I'd share a site that has been useful for me in tracking what I eat - fitday.com. I enter every single thing I eat in there, and it's been a real eye-opener. I eat nearly 100% clean, but what I DO eat, I tend to eat too much of. For example - raw almonds = healthy! Handfuls of raw almonds as a snack = not so healthy, and super calorific. It's also been a good tool for me to use throughout the day to see what I'm missing nutritionally -- i.e., need to eat greens with dinner, because I haven't had any yet. There is a version of fitday available for your iPhone.
I've also been measuring accurate servings of everything. Yes, it's a pain to count out 12 almonds, or measure 1 cup of cereal, but again, it's been eye opening to see what a serving is.
Last, I highly recommend Clean Eating Magazine for recipes. They are really good at emphasizing the quality of the food you eat - not just counting the calories. They have a website w/ recipes at cleaneatingmag.com.

Re: Do you have a goal weight for the 8 week competition?
Yay - I can finally log in! :)
My overall weight goal is 30 pounds - so back to the weight I was when I met my husband. This is a picture of me at 150 pounds -- it's my inspiration.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7144/6765241621_f54bca163c_z.jpg
But that's the long term goal. For purposes of the competition, I'd like to lose 15. I'm still breastfeeding Lucas quite a bit, and it's really hard for me to lose weight while nursing. I started portion control and calorie counting last week, though, and I've already dropped 4 pounds, so hopefully it's not a fluke!
Lucy
Edited to add: I don't mind sharing my weight, because I think it's useful to know how different weights look on different people. I'm sure 150 seems like a lot to some, but I was super toned, strong, and, if I say so myself, hella hot at 150. :)

Re: Do you have a goal weight for the 8 week competition?
My goal for the end of the week is 15lbs or more...but that is prob VERY optimistic. The true goal is to break this cycle of yoyo dieting and screwing up my metabolism. I have been awful about eating 3 square meals and healthy snacks on a regular basis with a few splurges mixed in for happiness. Instead I have been in an awful cycle of skipping meals, then overdoing it with big dinners way too late in the evening. I have thought for too long that I am healthy eating and just need to clean up the edges to lose weight. This is the end of that. I lost weight 3 years ago by EATING. For the first time I took time for my meals and had to think ahead of what I was going to eat--not just getting together snacks for the food bag for the kids. I had so much energy and felt healthy and fit. Time went by, lbs came back (and then some) and bad eating habits returned. No more. Me Me Me Me. Putting me towards the top of my priority list from now on...not at the bottom, or for when I have extra time or energy.
So, long way of saying-- 8 week goal of new habits to get me to the long term goal of 15-20lbs. Finger crossed I get there quickly and stay there.
Re: Diet app for your phone
Sorry. Could not type anything in the main portion of the message from my ipad for some reason. I downloaded a great app onto my phone today It is called "Tap and Track Pro" It cost $3.99. I have found that a lot of the free apps have tons of pop ups or opportunities to buy whatever they are pushing...so the have to pay for it app was the way to go for me. I had heard great things about this one and so far so good. I was able to enter in and save my favorite things as i go (Starbucks Skim Latte) so I can pull that one up everyday. I also was able to make a recipe for my green smoothie from this morning and it calculated calories for that as well. You enter in your height, weight and age. you also enter in your goal weight and how much you would like to lose each week. The app then calculates your daily allotted calories. My maintenance was 1800 but to lose up to 2 lbs a week, I need to cut that back to 1180 calories. There is also a chance a to enter in your daily exercise to add that into the mix.
Just a nice way for me to try to get on top of this weight/calorie/exercise ratio

Re: Do you have a goal weight for the 8 week competition?
I would love to set a really huge goal for myself and say "I want to lose 15-20 lbs". But I have done that over and over and I feel dissapointed when it doesn't happen. So this time, I am setting daily and weekly goals and trying to stay focused on being healthy each day. Don't get me wrong, if a miracle happens and I lose 15 or 20, I will take it!
Thanks for doing this for us K and keeping us all healthy and feeling good!
Re: Do you have a goal weight for the 8 week competition?
One of my goals is to try to eat out less and make more of our meals at home. I find myself running out and grabbing things to often and really want to try to plan out our meals at home making healthier choices. On the menu tonight- grilled chicken, broccoli and rice. It's a start! Looking forward to a fun competition!! Amy
Do you have a goal weight for the 8 week competition?
Something to think about....
Danielle Peterson commented after hearing our segment on NPR:
"Woo hoo! Finally a group workout that's motivating, gets results, and encourages moms bring their kids! What a great way to incorporate exercise into kids' lives as well. I hope "Mommy Bootcamp" comes to MI!!"
"People who do cardio and strength training consume an average of 517 fewer calories daily than those who do just one or the other."

To achieve desired training improvements the body system must be OVERLOADED beyond its normal level or present capacities. When the body is stressed in this manner, it responds by adapting and its capacity increases. This is the training effect. Fitness programs that lack overload and/or variation will serve to maintain, but not IMPROVE one's existing level of fitness.
