Decorating the back porch
Mary and Tracy spent the afternoon decorating the back porch with spider webs and vermin.

Helpers
Two of the girls that live on our street came by to see if they could help. They always want to hang out with the 'big'

Make-up time!
As darkness fell, the girls began their transformation into Vampires...in the bathroom, with make-up.

Fine!
That's what Tracy said whenever I had the camera out and I made her submit to my picture-taking-obsession.

Mary just ignored me.
Really well, I might add.

Bill would not be out-done!
He put a lot of time and careful consideration into his costume.

Rusty did his part as well.
He pulled down as much of the spider web as he could before he was whisked into the house.

Vampires!
After much preparation they were ready and were whisked off by Tracy's mom to go terrorize another neighborhood!

Fang trouble
Mary's fangs were a problem. The stuff that came with them to adhere them to her teeth didn't work, so, mom to the rescu

Tybee Island Weekend

At the Pool
The girls preferred the pool at the hotel next to the rough waves and the broken shells of the ocean.

Out to the Beach
Next to the pool there is a patio and the way out to the beach. The hotel is pretty far away from the pier and the bars and restaurants, so it was nicely secluded.

View from the hotel.
An area behind the hotel with chairs and umbrellas, perfect for relaxing and taking great pictures!

Off to the water!
After playing in the pool awhile, the girls decided to brave the waves! They couldn't go too far into the water since Bill wasn't with them, but I was close by keeping an eye on them. The waves weren't cooperating and they didn't stay in there as long as I thought they would. They ended up wanting to go back to the pool.

A windy day...
The wind was pretty strong sending the boogie boards flying like kites! Good thing they were attached to the girl's wrists!

Off with the shoes!
They tried wearing their water shoes so they wouldn't be stepping on the broken shells, but they kept coming off with the waves.

A B & B and some cottages
To the right of the hotel is a cute bed and breakfast and some residences.

Sneaking with the camera.
Even though the girls were warned ahead of time about the camera, I still tried to sneak some shots of them unaware. Didn't really work for long...

They did act silly for me, though!

Notice the tongue.
Trademark reaction: the sticking out of tongues. They are frequent when the camera is around.

Self explanatory...

Watching tv

See the tongue?

Still there....

Dinner at Spanky's!
Had a nice (drunk) lady take our picture for us. Turned out good! She wasn't shaking at all!

Ready for bed...

All right, already, Mom!

Sunrise Sunday morning
I got up before the sun and headed to the beach looking forward to getting some pictures of the sun rising over the Atlantic. I was not disappointed. There were other early risers there to greet the day, too!

The view of the hotel...
Our room was on the 3rd floor, not the end rooms there with the balcony, but just to the left. We could see the pool and the ocean from the walk way outside the room. It was a nice room!

The Tybee pirate
After I got the girls to get moving, just in time to check out, we headed down the road to the shops near the pier. Of course, I had to get pictures of the girls with the pirate!

Wandering through the shops
We browsed through the shops looking at odds and ends here and there.

Sweet Shop
We stopped in this shop to get ice cream, but ended up leaving and getting an ice cream cone at the pier.

I loved the sign...
the girls posed under protest....

Middle School!

6th Grade Orientation
Mary and Tracy arrived for orientation only to be tortured by me and my camera!!

the walk
I would have gotten away with this picture of the girls walking in front of me, but the flash gave me away. They weren't too happy! lol

First ones to arrive
We were a little early, so I had the chance to take this picture with only the teachers in the room. The girls weren't humiliated in front of any other students.
Hunting Island, SC

Just arrived...
The picnic tables are right near the parking, so it was easy to haul the stuff over to have our lunch.

This close to the Beach!
And only a short walk out to the shore.

Amid the green stands this bare tree.
2009-07-25
It was so nice to see trees lining the shore instead of hotels!

It looks like they are pretty far out there,
but they're not really. I'm right at the waters edge, snapping away, not wanting to get the camera wet.

Smokey and Rusty
We named the 'outside' cat Smokey after he decided he was our cat. He stays outside and is learning to not rush the door when it opens. He's the only cat so far tolerant of Rusty.

Just a little nibble.
Of course, Rusty thinks when the cat wags his tail it's game time!

Isn't he just too cute????

Rusty is a climber!
I don't know what the cat thinks of that, but that pup is completely on the cat!!!

After this the cat smacked the pup.
Guess he had enough.

New Puppy!
Mary is just overjoyed with the new addition to the house!

Kisses for Rusty
He's so tiny!

Getting to know Bill
The best way to get to know the puppy is down on the floor!

I think they're both having fun!

Cuddling with shoes.
He slept here on and off all day!

Setting up the tent
We got to the campground around 2 on Friday and got right to setting up the tent. Well, Bill and Mary did. I supervised...

Our lake view
We had a beautiful view of the lake through the trees, but weren't able to get down to the shore due to the low level of the lake and the erosion near the edge.

Still workin' on the tent...
She does get it figured out, though...

Can't tell it's REALLY HOT, huh?
or really humid. Really REALLY humid!

The view from the path down to the lake.

Mary's pooped from poppin' up the tent.

The beach area didn't look great...
but we sure did cool off there pretty good!

When the boats went by
they made some really nice waves for us in the swimming area!

This is Bill...
after he dropped my camera and I scolded him...

Sunset Friday
The sun went down and it didn't get much cooler!

100_3883.JPG
100_3883.JPG 2009-06-26

The game didn't last long Friday..
we were hot and tired.

Friday night the fire wouldn't cooperate
but ya don't see any kindling there, do ya?

We started roasting dogs over the fire
but since it was taking too long, we'd finish it on the new camp stove. Camp stove wouldn't work. Hmmm...

The fire was great for marshmellows, though!

Saturday morning...
Mary finally fell asleep some time during the night...we didn't get much sleep.

Fishing!
They started out a bit late and didn't bring any fish back to camp, but Mary caught a little one that got away...sounds a bit fishy to me....

Last Day of 5th Grade

Ms. Sliker's group...
...nope...no academics in the gifted class today!

That's okay, though...
looks like they were having fun!

We didn't know that no one else was wearing a uniform today...

Mary and Mr. Proto
The best 5th grade teacher Mary ever had!

Ms. Pevey; another great 5th grade teacher!

And Mr. Cooper; the other half of the
infamous Proto/Cooper comedic team. Couldn't have asked for a better team of teachers to tease Mary all year long! She enjoyed every minute of it!

We interrupted Ms. Sliker's lunch for this shot.
She even had to quit chewing for it! Such a sport!
Beach Day in Pooler

In line for lunch
I caught up with Mary in line with Ms. Johnson, the vice-principle and her friend Deanna, waiting for lunch.

More smiles for the camera
Some of the other kids wanted in on the photo shoot, so I got them in line, too!

Their spot on the 'beach'!
Mary's group decided that beach day wouldn't be right if they didn't spend it in the sand, so here's where they staked out their spot with the umbrella. The principal thought they had the right idea with the umbrella!

Lunch at the top
One group of kids took over the playground equipment. They had their luch on top and underneath where there was a bit of shade.

Shade along the fence
There was a couple of groups along the fence stealing every bit of shade they could find.

They all seemed to enjoy lunch!
They even got soda! All the kids were very jazzed about that.

Breanna was being silly.

Breanna and Tracy hammin' it up.

You're too funny, Breanna.

Tracy's mom joined them in their spot, too!
Don't know what Mary's thinkin' about here.

Tracy got a picture of me!
I didn't realize Tracy got me! I was making the rounds with the trash bag, helping with the litter explosion. I figured the less on the ground, the less the kids would have to grumble about picking up later. (I know, they shouldn't have thrown it down in the first place, but we won't go there.)

Awards time!
It was quite a bit cooler in the gym and everyone sat down and enjoyed it! Deanna, Mary and Tracy together in their class.

Breanna with her class waiting for the awards.

Mary's class was last to receive their awards.
But Mary's first in line in her class!

Ms. Shiver is one of Mary's favorite teachers!
Mary was so happy to get her awards! High Honor Roll with Distinction, Accelerated Reader award, and many more!

Flip Flops to school!
A rare treat for school! She got to wear her flip flops for beach day!
Splash In The Boro

Splash In the Boro.jpg
Splash In the Boro.jpg 2009-05-31

Sunscreen anyone??

Nice picture.
Posing nicely. They received instructions to not hide from the camera and they performed well...most of the day.

The Lazy River
Mary loved this! Just floating around, cooling off. Tracy wanted to run around all day long, but they did spend a lot of time here.

Don't know what this face is about.

That's better!

Off they go!

Cool, huh?

Nice day for a float!

Hang on!
The water was trying to pull the girls away while they waited for Bill to get a tube and join them.

Bill joins the ride down the river.

Cool!

This is a cool place for the kids to play!
The two girls played here a while but they got bored soon. Too many little kids.

I loved watching the big bucket spill!

Don't quite know the purpose of this pool...
except to get cool.

And this was cool!
All of a sudden it just poured out water like a backwards umbrella!

And the girls loved it!

Don't know if that boy did, though.

Bill decides to try crossing the 'lilly pads'.

Starts out okay.

Uh oh! Looks like trouble!

Go Bill!

Ah, rats! In the drink!
The camera wasn't fast enough to catch the shot of him falling...

Show 'em how it's done, Tracy!

She made it across pretty good!

Shower anyone?
This was fun for a bit...

There goes that bucket again!

Don't you love that?

They're building some new attractions.
I thought they were already done by the way the website talked about it.

The BIG water slide!
It took most of the afternoon for Mary to build up the courage to go on this. But she did!

The wait wasn't too long.
No one seemed to mind the wait. They moved along quite well.

Hi guys!

I need a better zoom on my camera...

Almost their turn!

One more smile before their decent!!

And some sticking out of tongues...

Kersplash!

The double tube they used...
I don't think Mary would have done this if Dad was not RIGHT there with her.

Mary's headed for the steps.
Let me outta here!

Just outside the waterpark.
2009-05-28 Concert at school

Getting ready...
We were a bit late, so Mary rushed to get her clarinet together to join the rest of the band for their warm up.

Small, but they sound good!
That girl there in the front is the one that's always giving Mary a hard time in school. I don't know about you, but I think Mary could take her....

Wish there was sound...

That's Mary on the drums!
The kids who signed up for percussion all quit, so different kids got to do different parts. Mary was so excited! Mr. Chandler filled in as the percussion section on three out of the five selections. You can see him playing the bassoon, too.

Smiles for Mom's camera!
I love it!

Easter 2009

Coloring Eggs
Every year Dad is the egg dying supervisor while Mary is the color saturation checker.

Measuring
The correct amount of vinegar and water must be used and measured with great care by our scientist.

Color Saturation
Gentle spinning of the eggs to monitor the color saturation is a tedious but rewarding job.

The Finished Product
Bright colors fit for any basket, Mary was proud of the eggs she made for her cousin, John, who is serving in Afghanista

Eggs for John
We sent him the picture, though!

What are you doing, Oreo?
Oreo found something interesting behind the picture.

What is it kitty??
100_3688.JPG 2009-04-12

Oh boy!
Glad it was plastic!

A-hunting we will go!
It just wouldn't be Easter without Mary hunting for eggs...

Look here, Mary!
Oreo, always ready to lend a hand, or, umm, paw...

A quick peek...
at the little Easter village.

Really Hard Eggs...
Mary found two quartz eggs in her basket, too! She is a rock hound, ya know.
2009-02-13 Colonial Mary

Colonial Mary
Mary waited all week to dress up in the costume we got for her for Georgia day!

A Colonial Librarian
She was sent to the media center thinking pictures were to be taken. When she got there she found they wanted to do a video of her telling what she did for her 'colonial' projects. She started wringing her hands, instantly terrified at the thought of being video taped. She didn't do it and that was certainly okay. Besides, they didn't have video in colonial days!

Posing for Mom's Camera

She's so cute.
The Mighty 8th Airforce Museum

Inside the museum
I got a couple of pictures of the airplane finatics! They had a good time looking at all the planes.

A Lesson in aircraft engines

A familiar plane
Bill worked on this type of plane while in Korea.

Inside the museum

Hope they don't fire this up!

One big plane

Lots of people here today!

Inside a 'safe house'
Too many people were wandering through this 'model' of a safe house used during a war, so I stayed outside. Caught Bill and Mary through a window, though!

The memorial gardens
Outside there is a huge garden area with many memorials, the plane in the background and a church. We need to go back when all is in bloom to see again.

One of the many memorials

Part of the church.
The church is gorgeous inside. I didn't take any pictures inside, though. Too many people around.

Waiting outside...
while Bill and Mary browsed the gift shop, I went out for some air. I had fun taking pictures, though!

There they are!

Think they've seen me yet?

I think so!

What are you doin' mom?

Okay, I'll stop.

The wind picked up for a great shot of the flag!

Mary's First Concert!

Mary's First Performance!
Mary was quite nervous about her first performance, but didn't show it!

Getting ready
The familiar sight of suckin' on reeds brought back memories of Dayna's band days. Breanna gave me a big smile for the camera!

More smiles!
To the left of Mary is another of her buddies, Katie. She gave me a smile, too.

The Flute section.
The flute section had extra help. A mom volunteered every week during band. They gave her a pretty thank you gift!

The excitement builds.
The band chairs were filling up and I tried to get a good shot, but it was interrupted. That's okay, though!

Waiting to start!

Last minute adjustments by the band director.

Those eyes!
Don't know what's up with the 'laser eyes'. Don't know if it's the lighting in the gym or everyone was just looking right at my camera!

Look at her!
She's so cute! Go Mary!

Wish you could hear them play!
But this is just the first of many performances, I'm sure.

Music to my ears!

The band director joined in on the last tune!

Mary loves her band teacher!

Breanna was happy too!
Mary's best bud in band, Breanna did well, too!

Middle School!
Ahhh! The beginning of middle school! Mary and Tracy had orientation and were very nervous about going! The size of the school was what got Mary. She's used to those little elementary schools! When their short day was through they let me know how boring it was! I told them, 'Maybe tomorrow will be better!' They both groaned.....
Hunting Island, South Carolina
We had a great day in SC at Hunting Island! I'm so glad we ventured out and found this state park! It's not too far from the house, either. I know we'll be going back!
New Layout!
Check out the Layout Album! I did a page with a cute picture of Dayna and Katie from Katie's graduation in June! I'm going to get a frame and hang this one on the wall!
Happy 4th!
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th celebration! Ours was lo-key an local. We stayed home and had Tracy and her Mom over for dinner and fireworks. Only two pix made it! I can't believe it, either! lol
Last day of 5th grade
I picked Mary up at school at lunch time. Before she left she said good-bye to all her teachers. While driving away from the school she started realizing she wouldn't be spending time with them anymore and got a little emotional. She's so excited about starting 6th grade in middle school next year, but not quite sure she wants to be finished with 5th grade. All her teachers were spectacular! She loved and respected all of them. Thank you Mr. Proto, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Pevey, Ms. Shiver and Ms. Goll! You made Mary's year a great one and her Dad and I appreciate it more than we could ever tell you!
Beach Day in Pooler!
Mary and her friends had a hot, but fun time at Beach Day at school! It was way to hot and humid for me to stick around out there for long, but I got some great pictures!
Splash in the Boro!
We spent Saturday in Statesboro at 'Splash in the Boro', a nice water park. Mary's friend, Tracy came along with us to share the water and sun.
I, of course, did not go into the water. There were a lot 'bigger' women there in suits and enjoying the water, but I was perfectly content to let them be the bigger women. I hid behind my camera most of the day and followed Bill and the girls around snapping pictures.
Easter 2009
Well, I'm a little late getting these up here, but they're here now! Mary had a fun Easter, although she didn't believe us when we finally told her who the Easter Bunny 'really' was. She said, "Oh right. Next you'll be telling me you're Santa! No way!"
A Shocker!
For those of you who really know Dayna, you know this is rare. Check out the piture I added to the 'Dayna' album of Dayna in a skirt! Yeah! You read that right! She's very cute, too. Charlie is stylin' in a suit! Cute! (Hush, Dayna)
Mary's First Band Performance!
What a holiday treat we had at Mary's first band performance! The pictures are wonderful, in my humble opinion! We're looking forward to many more toots from her clarinet!
Trick or Treat!
Mary had a friend stay over Friday, which also happened to be Halloween! Mary was Cleopatra and Brianna got to dig through Mary's costume stash and was a girl from the '50's! They had fun all night!
An evening at the Fair!
Mary had a blast last night at the fair! She would have gone on her favorite rides all night!
Donuts with Dad
Not a spectacular event for Mary, but we all live with disappointments...
Poor Mary.
Off to the Company Picnic!
Well, Bill and Mary were.
For not wanting to go and leave mom at home with her aching back, Mary came home smiling and full of things to tell me! She and Bill had a great time! It was cloudy and cool, but the rain held off.
Mary's Clarinet
Bill and I were treated to our first clarinet concert in Mary's room! What memories it brought back as we listened. Our girls love the clarinet! Mary SO wants to emulate her big sister! She's off to a great start! She sounded great!
What? No new Pictures?
Yeah, I don't know what to tell you. I have no new pictures to add!
I know! I can't believe it either!
Maybe next weekend at the Gulfstream Company picnic!
Wish me luck!
Back in Savannah!
Dayna is getting along great! It was time to go.
I flew out Tueday morning from LAX, made it to Chicago with no problems, and made it back to Savannah about 10:30.
Bill and Mary were waiting for me as I made my way from the plane.
It's good to be home.
But miss Dayna already!
California pictures
I've taken some pictures since I've been here in California, but haven't gotten them off of the camera yet! Check back, though! I hope to get them on here soon!
Scrapbook Album
Take a look at this! This is where I'll be posting the scrapbook pages I do! Right now I'm working on Dayna's Birthday Album. It's coming along nicely! I'm enjoying doing the young years with all the Disney characters! So colorful and cheery! Enjoy! And check back often for new layouts!
Cool!
Wow! I think I'm lovin' this new thing here on Shutterfly! I was browsing through my links and went to look at some pictures that were shared by the Carlson family and loved the way they shared their pictures!
The photos here, so far, are some you've probably already seen, but I think this will be a great place to showcase all the pictures I take of our adventures here in Savannah!
Check back often! And make sure to leave us some comments! You know we love to hear from you!
