Welcome

OK....So I decided that one of the best ways to stay in touch with everyone, even if I don't have time to call or write, is to put a little blog out there to update those of you who care about whats going on with us. Let's start with a little family intro for those of you who may not know........

I'm Jessica, which should be easily assumed since Joel would almost NEVER be responsible for one of these. I am married to Joel, for a little over five years now, and loving every second. We are the exhausted and proud parents of Jackson, who is almost 3, so full of energy, smart as a whip, and just as sarcastic as a 13 year old. Next, our daughter. Jacey, who was born on Easter this year. We are loving having a newborn, and can't wait to see what the future holds. We have a dog, who is only still here because Jackson likes her, and I apologize ahead of time if I complain about her!

Joel is an engineer, and Supervisor of Substation Maintenance (whatever that means) at the local electric cooperative. His job is very important, he takes it very seriously, and even though I complain, I am proud that he takes so much pride in keeping the lights on for the world. He is a sports addict, which is okay since he doesn't bet on it (much). He is the best Daddy I have ever seen, and I have two kids who can attest to that.

I am a........well........this is still to be determined. I just graduated with my Master's degree in Corporate Communication, and hold a BS in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations, and a minor in Ethical Studies. (Sounds impressive when you say it like that, huh?) I am currently teaching Public Speaking as adjunct faculty at the local University, but I dream of a job I will love forever, which happens to be full time, or at least making a full time salary. Keep your fingers crossed.

Like I said before....Jackson is 3. He is a sports NUT, and by that I mean prodigy. He can spiral a football, albeit a small one, knows how to golf, play baseball, basketball and soccer. Joel and I think he is way better than anyone elses 3 year old. He is super smart, comes up with new things all the time, and rarely takes no for an answer. Jackson, in all of his athletic glory, has asthma, though we have yet to see the sports be the cause of an attack. Also, Jackson is deathly and horribly allergic to peanuts, which is horrible, so if you meet him, please don't give him any. Other than that, he is perfect and wonderful. Oh, and he has the longest eyelashes you have ever seen on a boy, which is totally and completely unfair.

Jacey is 7 months now. She smiles ALL the time, loves to bounce, and has begun feeding herself, (you know, biter biscuits and those puffy things). You forget what its like, I think, having a baby and watching them grow. The difference between one month and the next is so huge at this point in her life. That magic dies down a little as they get older. I think once the talking and walking begin, we take for granted that "they always did that." She is beautiful. A true joy in my life. Amazing.

So, I do complain a bit. You know, about wanting a job, or needing more to do. I want to be around my friends more and feel accomplished. Its writing these things, the things about my family, these things that I helped create, that make me take a step back. I am so lucky. Essentially, my life is perfect. Happy Birthday Jackson!

Jackson turned 4! And, ringing it in with a party, we celebrated at the gymnastics gym with lots of friends, and lots of goodies! What a fun time!!
We had pizza, did gymnastics, opened presents and ate cake! Many thanks to Coaches Megan and Leslie, who were real troopers with all those kids. Jackson LOVED it!

Joel's Latest Accomplishment

Well, here we are. 5 months, and 70 pounds later, the day of the 5K Joel said he would run was here. We got up before 6:00, ON A SATURDAY, readied our bags and the babies, and headed to the winery for Joel's race. Jackson was so excited. He was so sure Daddy was going to "win", (he would not listen to the reasoning that there were more than 1500 people), and he couldn't wait to watch. The weather was nice, and we were on time, so the day started off well. Joel began in the front of the pack, and we waited patiently for him to get back to our cheering spot. A little while later, as runners began to come in, Jackson cheered in good sportsmanship and patiently, no really, he was patient, waited for Daddy. We finally spotted his red shorts, and Jackson stood at the curb cheering and clapping. We were about 100 feet from the finish line, and as Joel approached the greatest thing happened. Joel threw his water bottle down, ran over, grabbed Jackson, and carried him the rest of the way, all the way across the finish! Jackson said, "Me and Daddy won!!"
We are so proud of Joel for the weight loss, the training, the running, and most importantly for doing what he said he would do. He finished his 5K in 25 minutes 42 seconds, his FASTEST time yet, and didn't even fall over! So proud!! What a great day! A perfect memory!!

Pumpkin Carving Fun

We carved a seriously cool, Star Wars themed, Darth Vader to be exact, pumpkin this year. It was fun for EVERYONE! Well, it was a little stressful for Mommy. See, Joel carved a big "T" in the one last year for our football theme. I got Vader. Seriously? So, not fair. But, FUN!

Jacey Grace Morris was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, at 11:09 p.m. She was 19 inches long and weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 oz. She is BEAUTIFUL, and trust me, I would say if she wasn't. But...well....she is!

Well....Jackson is finally 3!!

He is very excited, and so are we. Jackson and all his friends had so much fun at his bowling birthday party. I have decided that the best oart about 3 year old birthdays is that parents can't leave. So, it wasn't too bad....we loved it!
