I'm living in Austin, Texas right now, where the roads are supposed to be pretty cyclist friendly. But today I had a run in with a meanie SUV driver at a stop light. He was really angry that I had to change lanes quickly (because I had been staying in the right lane so others could pass me, even though I knew my street was getting close - I just didn't know how close). Instead of being understanding that, just like a car driver, as soon as I saw the road I needed I put my "blinker" on and got over, he was angry that I hadn't been in the left lane if I knew my street was coming up.
I bet he also would have been angry if I had been in the left lane, because I was going too slow, and left lane is fast lane.
I got sad, and questioned my passion for riding my bike because I've been having so many of these meanie encounters, even in Austin. But I need to remember - more people pass me kindly and safely than the opposite. So that's good, right?
Keep it on two wheels,
