This week the students will complete chapters three and four, namely, Saint Paul the Apostle and The Church: A People of Prayer. The focus of chapter three is:..."to discover that Saint Paul the Apostle made many missionary journeys to spread the Gospel throughout the Roman Empire. The focus of chapter four is:..."to become more familiar with the prayer life of the Church."
[Their textbook, Church and Sacraments includes the following units and chapters: Unit One: The Church: chapter 1) the Church: the People of God; 2) The Church: The Body of Christ; 3) Saint Paul the Apostle; 4) The Church: A People of Prayer; 5) The Prayer of the Church. Unit Two: Worship and Sacraments: chapter 6) Give Thanks to the Lord; 7) Return of the Spirit: A Scripture Story; 8) Baptism and Confirmation; 9) The Eucharist: 10) Jesus Feeds Five Thousand: A Scripture Story; 11) Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation; and, 12) Matrimony and Holy Orders.]
This week the students will complete the content of chapter 23: Love Your Neighbor as Yourself. They will begin chapter 24: Jesus, Our Model of Prayer. The focus of the chapter is:..."to explore the prayer of Jesus and how he teaches us to pray."
[Their book is divided into four units: We Believe; We Worship; We Live; and, We Pray. (There is also another section called We Celebrate: The Liturgical Seasons. Unit 1 contains the following chapters: 1) Speak, Lord; 2) The Word of God; 3) The Mystery of the Holy Trinity; 4) The Calming of the Sea; 5) Great is the Lord, Our God; 6) Jesus Christ, Son of God; 7) The Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus; 8) The Promise of a Helper; 9) Different Gifts, the Same Spirit; 10) Thy Kingdom Come!. Unit 2 contains these chapters: 11) Celebrating the Liturgy; 12) Baptism and Confirmation; 13) Pentecost; 14) One Bread, One Cup; 15) The Corinthians; 16) Jesus' Work of Healing; 17) Called to Serve the Whole Church. Unit 3 contains the following chapters: 18) Making Christian Decisions; 19) The Beatitudes; 20) Live as Children of Light; 21) God Is Love; 22) Living Our Covenant with God; 23) Love Your Neighbor as Yourself. The chapter titles for unit 4 are: 24) Jesus, Our Model of Prayer; 25) People of Prayer; and, 26) Lord, Teach Us to Pray. The Last Section contains the following chapters pertaining to the Litugical year: The Liturgical Year; The Season of Advent; The Season of Christmas; the Season of Lent; Holy Week, and The Season of Easter. The focus of the chapter is..."to discover how the Seventh, Eighth, and Tenth Commandments teach us to live as Jesus taught." They will also venture into chapter 24: People of Prayer. The focus of the chapter is:...to discover the different ways the Catholic Church prays."

The students will begin chapter 11: Measurement: Two- and Three- Dimensional Figures. This week chapter objectives include: 1) finding the area of composite figures; 2) build three-dimensional figures given the top, side, and front views; 3) find the volumes of rectangular and triangular prisms; 4) find the volumes of cylinders; and, 5) estimate square roots. [Their book contains five units, namely: Unit 1) Algebra and Functions; Unit 2) Number Sense: Fractions; Unit 3) Algebra and Number Sense: Proportions and Percents; Unit 4) Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability; and, Unit 5) Geometry and Measurement. The chapter titles for unit one are: 1) Introduction to Algebra and Functions; 2) Integers; and, 3) Algebra: Linear Equations and Functions. The chapter titles for unit two are: 4) Fractions, Decimals, and Percents; and, 5) Applying Fractions. For unit three the chapter titles are: 6) Ratios and Proportions; and, 7) Applying Percents. The chapter titles for unit four are: 8) Statistics: Analyzing Data; and, 9) Probability. The titles for the last unit are: 10) Geometry: Polygons; 11) Measurement: Two- and Three-Dimensional Figures; and, 12) Geometry and Measurement.]
