New Class Page
I am going to stop updating this website and start using Facebook for classroom updates. If you would like to join our Facebook group, look us up under "Mrs. Bailey's Class" and request to join. I will invite those of you who I know have a Facebook account already. I hope this will be easier for everyone to keep with!
100th Day of School
We had a great time on the 100th day of school. We made 100th Day trail mix, did 100 exercises, found a hidden picture on a hundreds chart, and more! The kids looked great dressed up as 100 year olds and we even had a little extra fun with an Aging app that you can check out in the photos section. I can't believe we have already been together for 100 days. The next few months are going to fly by!
New Pictures & New Behavior System
I have finally gotten around to adding pictures from our Career Day back in November! I hope that you enjoy looking at them. The kids had a great time learning about various careers, such as dentistry, farming, graphic design, and more.
Also, I wanted to tell you a little about our new behavior management system. Instead of using the clip chart & behavior calendars we are switching over to Class Dojo. You can check it out for yourself at www.classdojo.com. Students receive points for positive behaviors (helping others, hard work, etc.) and lose points for negative behaviors (noisy, disrespectful, etc.). If you returned the Class Dojo homework sheet with your email address you will soon begin to receive updates about your child's behavior via email. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this new behavior system.
Christmas is almost upon us and I want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you and your family enjoy this extra time together!
On Monday we celebrated Constitution Day with a Kindergarten Rotation Day. Students moved from room to room in order to learn about various American symbols. We covered the US Flag, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, the Bald Eagle, and the White House. In each room students listened to a story about one of the symbols and made an art page to go in an American Symbols book. We had a very busy and fun day! Students brought their books home in their folders today, so be sure to check them out!
Apples, Apples, Apples!
In September we will be using apples to teach several math and language arts standards. Mrs. Ownbey got us off to a good start by making applesauce with the class. You can see pictures of this fun activity in the pictures section of our page. Several students have brought back their family projects and they look really great! I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with! This week we will be using apples during math to learn about graphing.
Our First Week
Our first week went great! Your kiddos are quickly settling into our routine at school. They are becoming better listeners, attention spans are increasing, and they are getting to know all of their new friends. This week we focused on learning each others' names and the letters that our names begin with. We also made a class book about our birthdays! In math, we started exploring the numbers zero and one. One of our favorite things we did at school was our school tour with Pete the Cat. He hid messages for us all around the building and we had to go on a scavenger hunt to find the clues that he left behind! I hope that your children have enjoyed our time together as much as I have! I can already tell this is going to be a great bunch :)
