Wouldn't it be exciting for you to surprise your child's class by coming in to read a favorite book! Please let me know when you are available, and we will set up a time for you to come in and do this. (Feel free to bring your own or let me know if you would like to choose from my personal library.) Remember to keep it a secret (even from your own child.)
Information on the next project (Shoe box Habitat) was sent home on Tuesday, April 17th. We are not having families come to see their child present his/her Animal Habitat project.
Sight Word Tests will be given weekly. Please practice sight words with your children. You will find the list in the Forms section of this website. I will also send home another copy of the list, if you request it. The sixteenth test, on Friday, 5/11/12, is on the words: ride, saw, eat, into, soon, & well.
Saxon math homework is being sent home approximately twice a week and is expected to be completed and sent back to school by the due date. (These are not optional.) Additionally, homework packets are also available under the Forms section of this website. We have math and ELA (English Language Arts.) It is an enrichment to our curriculum and does not teach new concepts. It only reinforces what has been learned in class. Homework packets are optional. If you would like your child to complete the homework, but need me to print it out, please let me know. Again, the homework packets are not mandatory. The May packets are due on June 5, 2012.
EKA is proud to be a supporter of the Josh Stevens Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to reward children for their Kind Acts. Each Friday staff wear our “Be Kind" shirts. We encourage students to wear their "Be Kind" shirts too. Shirts can be purchased at the front office for $10. The sale of these shirts helps to support the Josh Stevens Foundation and their mission to continue their Kindness Revolution.

Reminders: 1)Please practice shoe-tying at home. This is a self-help skill that students should learn at home. 2)Your child may have a water bottle in class but please write your child's name with a permanent marker at home. *Many students bring in the same brand of water.* 3)Students may bring in a book to share in class for me to read aloud. 4)Please label your child's jacket, backpack, and lunchbox with his/her first and last name with a permanent marker. Thank you.
