We are almost to the end! This is our last full week of school. I cannot believe that our time together is coming to a close. In preparation for the end of the year, I am asking that all of you shutterbugs please come forward. I am looking for pictures for the end of the year slide show. If you have ANY pictures, please get them to me ASAP so that I can include them in the promotion slide show. Thanks!
PIP coupons are due by May 27th! Please make sure you complete the required forms and turn them in. If you need some last minute hours, please let me know.
As I am sure you have noticed, it is much quieter around here this week. The middle school is gone on their class trips and will return next week. Because of this, one of our mentors, David, will be spending the week with us in our classroom. He elected not to go and therefore will be helping out around the classroom for the week.
Thank you to Linda Parker, Jill Maggs, and Kristine Hunt whose joint efforts will complete the caps for promotion!!!
For those who have not registered for next year, Monday May 31st is the last day to receive the $500 discount. If you have any questions, comments, or problems with the enrollment process, please contact Lisa Olson, who is always happy to help!

Book logs were due today. If you forgot to turn them in, please do so by tomorrow. If they are not here tomorrow, they will be considered late.
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday or Friday for Parent/Teacher conferences. Please bring any questions or concerns you have about your child with you. This is a great time to ask all of those questions you may have about how your child is progressing, what they may need to work on, or what to look forward to in the future.
At the end of the week I will begin formal assessments of the students. Because of this, there will be less class work and homework for the next few weeks. I will send ONE homework packet home next Monday that will need to be completed before Thanksgiving break. Besides reading, there will be no homework this week J.
As I am sure you have noticed, there have been little booklets coming home. These are great for your children to read to you. They reinforce reading skills and keep up their love for reading!

Saturday is the annual Fall Festival. This is a fun day of fellowship, fun, and friendly competition. I encourage you to come and take part in this awesome day that has been a part of Christ Lutheran tradition for as long as I can remember. Pre-sale tickets are available at a discounted rate until WEDNESDAY. After that, they will be full price. A packet of information will be coming home tomorrow with ticket prices, a map of “attractions”, and many other things you might need to know.
This week (and part of next week) is standardized testing for the big kids in grades 1-8. All this means for Kindergarten is that we need to be respectful and if anyone should come in late, please be extra quiet as to not disturb the testing going on around us.
In case you didn’t know, this is an accreditation year for Christ Lutheran. From October 31-November 3, we will have visitors on campus validating what is happening every day here at school. These are teachers and administrators from other private schools in the area. They will be both in the classroom observing, and around campus. If you should see them, please feel free to smile and say hello. They may want to ask you some questions. If you have a moment or two, please answer the questions openly and honestly.
Also, Sunday October 31 is Reformation Sunday. ALL the school children will be singing this day. Please mark it on your calendar and make your best effort to be here to sing.
There is a sign up sheet in the window for the pumpkin day on Oct 28. Please sign up to bring something and/or come in to help!!

Tomorrow is picture day! Please have your children here right on time, as we will have our pictures taken first. Also, student must wear their uniforms and the money is due at the time the pictures are taken. Forms were sent home last week.
As you have probably seen already, a homework packet was sent home today. Please complete all of the pages and return on Friday. Students should be able to complete most, if not all of the packet by themselves. The major goal of this homework is to reinforce writing and penmanship skills. PLEASE be sure that your child writes all of their letters from top to bottom and forms them correctly. This is SO important. This is the time that writing becomes automatic. If they learn it wrong now, it is almost impossible to correct later!!! The other thing to watch for is the way they hold their pencil. It should be held with no more than three fingers. Let me know if you need to see what a correct grip looks like.
The library will now be open twice a week! On Wednesdays and Fridays, students will have the chance to pick out books to take home.
I have a first grade mom who is helping me with a special project on Monday and Thursday mornings for the next couple of weeks. If you have time on one or both of these mornings, we could REALLY use your help!
Progress Reports are coming home on Wednesday. These are informal assessments just to see where your children are at the moment. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

We enjoyed listening all about our Art Masters artist this morning. If you have a moment, ask your child to tell you what he/she remembers about Frederic Remington’s art. He painted images of the old West. The boys were particularly interested in the horses and outdoor pictures J.
We sing in church this Sunday at . Please have your child here by in Mrs. Gardiner’s (first grade) room. As always, I will be there to make sure everyone is where they need to be and all is well.
Please make sure your child is in full uniform every day. Both shirts and pants/skirts/shorts need to be from ’s. We have been seeing many children out of uniform. Now that we have been in school for over a month, we will begin to enforce the rules more strictly.
I know I have harped on this, BUT..... if you have not turned in your child’s earthquake kit, please do so ASAP!

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers last week for my son, Benjamin. He was having trouble breathing and was admitted to CHOC to figure out why. At one point, they thought he needed surgery, but thankfully that was not the case (thank you God). He did pick up a nasty cough from the hospital and I took him to the doctor this afternoon to make sure all is well! I am so happy to be back with my “other” kiddos!
As always, I want to invite you to chapel. This Wednesday is particularly special because my baby is going to be baptized J. I waited for school to be back in session so that I could share this experience with the school kids.
A few of you have expressed interest in volunteering in the classroom on a regular basis. My answer to this is always YES!!! If you have the time and/or inclination, please let me know when you would like to come. There is always plenty to do J.
We are still looking for MANY earthquake kits! Only SIX have been turned in. If you have not brought one in, please do so ASAP! We all pray there will never be a need to use them, but we have to be prepared just in case.

This Friday is a half day and all dads are invited to Donuts with Dad here on campus. Usually the morning starts in the gymnasium and then Dads come into class with their students. I know that many dads have multiple children and may have to split their time between them, and that is perfectly great.
This Friday is also our first opportunity to have a FUNday Friday. We will be focusing on Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM and doing some fun activities that correlate. If you can come and help or donate to the cause, please sign up in the window. Sorry for the late notice, time got away from me! Thank you SO much to those families who came to sing in church yesterday! It was amazing to see all those children praising God with their voices. It was also good to see many of you at the Movie Night on Friday. My family and I had a great time, I hope you did too.
If you have not already, please fill out and send back the papers from Back to School Night and return them by Friday of this week. Also, there are lots of projects that need help around the classroom. If you are interested in helping out, please e-mail me at 1ldelgado@christcm.com and I will be happy to let you know where you can help. I also have one large project that needs to be completed ASAP. If you would like to get all your PIP hours done in the beginning of the year, I have the job for you! Also, please send in your child’s earthquake kits as soon as possible. If you need a list of ingredients, please see the front office.
We are having lots of fun learning! Look in your child’s folder today for the color that they ended up on for the day. The color will be stamped over the words that it corresponds with. Please leave these papers in the folders. On Monday, I will take them out and add new ones. If you could make a habit of initialing the parent box so that I know you saw the color, I would really appreciate it. Also, feel free to write any comments in the box. I will keep these papers for the entire school year and send them home at the end of the year. They help me evaluate behavior patterns.
Here’s to the first full week! J
Blessings,
Mrs. Delgado
I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend with your families! It was fun to have a long weekend already J. We had a great first week in Kindergarten. I will slowly implement the classroom behavior chart this week, but will not send home colors, yet. I would like the students to have a chance to “practice” for a week.
Wednesday, September 8th is Back to School night. This is a very important night where I answer any and all questions you may have about Christ Lutheran, Kindergarten, or anything else within my realm of knowledge J. Back to School Night begins at in the church sanctuary. After a devotion and words from our Pastor and Principal, you will be dismissed to your child(ren)’s classroom(s). If you have more than one child at the school, there will be 2 sessions of the same information. You will also earn one PIP hour for attending Back to School Night.
Friday at is New Family Dinner/Drive-in Movie Night sponsored by the PTL. This is a fun night where you can sit down and have a meal and meet other members of the Christ Lutheran family. I strongly encourage all of you to come and hang out with all of the students, parents, teachers, and staff!
This coming Sunday is Rally Day! The whole school will sing in church, rededicate the staff, and kick off the school year the right way. Please plan to bring your child to sing in church on Sunday. We are asking that children sing in both services. Please see the tear off sheet for additional information. A choir schedule for the rest of the year will go home on Back to School Night.
Also, my goal is to keep my website updated at all times. If you ever see that it needs updating, PLEASE let me know so that I can stay on top of it! I look forward to seeing a lot of you this week!
Blessings,
Mrs. Delgado
Dear Parents,
We made it through a great first day! Just a reminder that tomorrow will be a full day of school. We will have a morning snack time, lunch and an optional afternoon snack time. Snack ideas include cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers, fruit, veggies and dip, graham crackers and low sugar options. No fruit snacks or chocolate covered granola bars are allowed for snack time. We keep these items for lunch. We allow only water to drink at snack time. A fountain is provided or children may bring a small water bottle to school. Dismissal will be at tomorrow.
Each morning your child will move his/her card to SAC or Curb Pick-up. Please tell your child how they are getting home each day. If picking up, meet us at the car line and we will bring your child to you. J
Also, if you forgot to bring school supplies for your child today, please send them tomorrow.
Have a great evening! See you tomorrow!
God Bless,
Mrs. Delgado
