I hope you had a great summer! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mrs. Toni Green. I am currently teaching art at Sandburg and Curie Elementary School. I am so excited for this new school year of great art projects filled with success, fun and excitement. In our first project of the year, the students are learning about lines, shapes, colors and patterns.
Art education stimulates and develops imagination, strengthens critical-thinking and problem solving skills, produces creativity, imagination, and understanding of cognitive skills that our children need. Art has a huge impact on the developmental growth and skills that our children learn. Visual arts prepares them to become well rounded,-confident young men and women in and beyond the classroom. Visual arts adds to the overall academic achievement and success in our schools. During my art classes I teach the children life skills such as developing an informed perception; express a vision; learning to problem solve and make decisions on their own.
My art lessons help to build self-confidence, self-discipline, and develops imaginations., I teach the students all the important values that I mentioned above, along with respecting each others point of view, team-building skills, and appreciation of different cultures and traditions. I never stop being amazed with every art project, of the growth and level of creativity by the students.

VOLUNTEERING IN THE CLASSROOM
I am looking for volunteers to help in their child's art class. If you are interested, ask me or your child's classroom teacher to find out the time your child will be there. My door is always open if you would like to visit our classroom. Remember, you must go through the school office first to get clearance to come onto campus.
