Time for some fall fun!
October promises to be an exciting month for your child, as we will be learning about such “community helpers” as firefighters and paramedics and studying the way one season makes way for another.
Pre-K3 classes will have a special visitor on Tuesday, Oct. 11: a firefighter! A fireman will roll up to Calvary Christian School in his fire engine. The children will get to explore the truck and hear about fire safety.
Pre-K4 morning and afternoon classes will be combined
Wednesday, Oct. 12 for our visit to a Rapid City fire station. We will leave by 8:15 a.m. and return by 11:15 a.m. Your child must bring his or her car seat in order to go on this field trip, and drivers are needed.
Pre-K4 morning and afternoon classes will be combined for chapel on Friday, Oct. 28. This day also marks the end of our first nine weeks. Our time together has really flown by!
Pre-K3 students will celebrate Pumpkin Fun Day on Thursday, Oct. 27, and Pre-K4 students will celebrate it on Monday, Oct. 31. Your child will learn about all the wonderful things God has made for us this time of year … including pumpkins!
We look forward to sharing some fall fun with your child!

Pre-K3 students get to wear blue jeans.
Wednesday, Oct. 19 -- Blue Jeans Day
Pre-K4 students get to wear blue jeans.
Thursday-Friday, Oct. 20-21 -- ASCI Convention
No school as our teachers are out-of-town attending a convention.
Wednesday, Oct. 26 -- Picture Day!
Thursday, Oct. 27 -- Pre-K3 Pumpkin Fun Day
Friday, Sept. 28 -- Chapel Day

School photos!
Individual and class photos will be taken at school on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Please have your child come dressed in his or her best smile. If you want your child’s photo in the school yearbook, it’s important he or she attend class this day.
Although Pre-K3 students do not regularly attend class on Wednesdays, they must come on this day for photos but can leave immediately after pictures are taken. We ask your son or daughter arrive by 8:15 a.m. Remember: If you want your child’s smile in the yearbook, please make sure you bring him or her to school on this day!
Pre-K3 concepts for October
Barnabas the Cat and the rest of his friends on Old MacDonald’s Farm will help your child learn letters, colors, numbers and shapes this month. October letters are: C, D, F and Y. October colors are: orange and yellow (definitely appropriate for this time of year!) October shapes are: square and triangle. Make a point to talk to your son or daughter about these concepts. You’ll be amazed at what they have to share!
