Embrace and be grateful for b-e-a-utiful weather!

Students are understanding normal processes for organization, self-checking, and assessments.  It is nice to see that many students value there efforts and materials.  Please help your child be organized with supplies, school work, and textbooks.

Each math class with have 100 point value math assignments, 200 points in notes for each chapter, 200 participation points, 200 point value quizzes, and 300 point value tests per chapter.  Extra Credit is given 3 times per quarter valuing15 to 25 points.  These grades will be updated weekly as the work is completed.  Grades can be checked in a couple of ways.  Soon the school web-based internet gradebook will be assessable.  Also, please feel free to call me at the school (672-3847) or email (njoyce@stmichael-streator.org) for an update.

Practice basic math skills by using textbook website listed on front cover of math textbooks.  Also, the "extra practice" tabs in back of book for the chapter sections covered already and currently covering in class.  Lots to learn and practice for our math skills!

What is Aimsweb?

Aimsweb is a 3-tier Progress Monitoring System based on direct, frequent, and continuous student assessment which is reported to students, parents, teachers, and administrators for the purpose of determining response to instruction, which is in conjunction with differentiated instruction.

What are Benchmark Assessments?

Benchmark Assessments occur three times each school year: fall, winter, and spring.  All students on a general education teacher's class roster are given the benchmark assessments at their grade level.  These are timed, scored, and graphed.  Benchmark assessments provide teachers, administrators, and parents information to make decisions about growth and development of basic skills.

What is Progress Monitoring?

Progress Monitoring is a continuous assessment, information management, and improvement reporting system designed for frequent monitoring of progress for students at risk or with severe needs. Based on individual goals, expected rates of progress are discussed and compared to actual rates of progress that have been scored, allowing fine tuning of the instructional approach to maximize improvement.  Progress Monitoring is done weekly or every two weeks.  These are timed and scored.
