We will finish up Unit 5 and complete a final assessment (due 4/27). We will begin Unit 6 - Pronouns and continue writing letters, poetry, and a short speech.

6th grade Literature and Vocabulary

We are beginning Unit 3 "What Makes You Who You Are". We will read short stories, poem, myths, an interview, and a nonfiction article. This should take us to the end of the year. In Vocabulary, we are working on Unit 11. Page 127 due 4/30, page 128 due 5/3, and pages 129 and 130 will be due 5/8.

4th Grade Science

This quarter will be working on "Forces and Motion". We will discuss speed, inertia, simple machines, energy, heat, light, and sound.

5th Grade Science

We have begun a unit on forces, motion, and energy. Planned activities include: inertia wagons, pendulum swings, grids, parachutes, racing rockets, and sound waves.

6th Grade Science

This quarter we are studying pollution and resources. Some planned activities include solar cookers, follow the pollution, wind turbines, and the best insulators.

7th/8th Grade Science

We are developing books and pamphlets about vertebrates, invertebrates, and body systems. This is group work and will presented on 4/24 and 25. We are experiencing a unit I call "Mrs. Kohn's favorite activities". These are fun experiments that I love, but don't fit into a unit that we have studied this year.
