Music at a Glance

My approach to music is from a multi-sensory design.  Each lesson usually includes singing, movement and listening.  The playing of instruments is integrated to practice or reinforce skills and to accompany songs.

Each month has a different focus:

Besides the above themes, performances are integrated and many composers are introduced to the students.  Music is a very integrated area.  For a more detailed description, please read my Curriculum page.

Dec. 3, 2009 Concert

High School Performing Arts Auditorium

The first concert of the year is just around the corner.  The location for this program is in the new auditorium at the High School.

As you enter the main doors, students in grade 2 will proceed to the band/choral room by 6:15 PM.  This is where they will meet their classroom teachers.  To find this area, follow the arrows that point towards the band/choral room.  Once you deliver your child you may then enter the auditorium and choose your seats.  Please keep your child's coat with you.

Students in grade three will meet their teachers in the hallway on the gym side of the high school.  Follow the arrows that direct you towards the 3rd grade meeting area.  Once the second grade program is finished, you may enter the auditorium and choose your seats.  Please keep your child's coat with you.

December 3, 2009 - Grades 2 & 3 in the High School Fine Arts Auditorium

  6:30 PM Grade 2     (1300 W. Willow St., Harrisburg)

  7:30 PM Grade 3

I do ask that you dress your child in a nice, dress-up outfit if possible.  This year we are not presenting a musical so there are no costumes.  Please consider that the students will be warm on the risers and under the lights.  Try not to over or under dress them.

Thanks for your support of the Arts!   See you on December 3rd.

Welcome

Welcome to music at Explorer Elementary.

Music is offered to all students bi-weekly.  Classes focus on singing, movement, exploration and instrument performance.  My goal is to inspire children to love the art of music making.
