Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting year! My name is Mrs. Amy Silva and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher. I would like to take this time to tell you a little about myself. I am from Western Massachusetts and I have been living in this area for the past 7 years. I am a graduate from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the Elms College in Chicopee, MA. This will be my 5th year teaching 5th grade at Wood School. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children, and making this another successful chapter in their lives.
In order for this year to be successful, we all need to be on the same page. I believe that communication between school and home is essential. I will be sending home your children’s papers and evaluations every Friday to let you know how your children are performing. I ask that you sign these and return them with your children on Monday.
Homework is a very important aspect of my classroom; therefore, it will be assigned every night. I require that each student write their homework down in their agendas before they leave for the day. Please check and sign the agendas daily to make sure your children have completed all of the work correctly. I also like to use the agendas as a communication tool; therefore, it is essential that you are checking them. If these procedures are followed you will always be well informed of your child’s progress and there will be no surprises.
I do ask that each student come prepared for school everyday. I have provided a list of supplies that will get them off to a good start. If you have any question throughout the year do not hesitate to call the school and set up an appointment, as I will do the same.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy Silva
