Welcome to Sugar Hill Elementary School's math site! I have created a page for each grade level Kindergarten to 5th grade. On those pages you will find information about math activities and the math standards for that grade. Visit regularly to see what's going on. I love working with the students of Sugar Hill Elementary!
Happy learning,

I hope that your child is excited about the 2011 - 2012 school year. Sugar Hill is truly a fabulous school and we have gotten off to a great start!
I want to begin by sharing a little about myself with you. This will be my 16th year of teaching and my 5th year at Sugar Hill Elementary. I am a graduate of the University of Georgia. I am a trained Teacher Support Specialist (TSS) and I am also Gifted certified. Before coming to Sugar Hill I had had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Georgia Department of Education as the Elementary Math Specialist for the state. My job encompassed writing the K-5 math curriculum for and training teachers across the state on our new standards. I have also worked with the GA DOE for over 10 years to write and revise the Georgia CRCT and with the NAEP in Washington DC to develop our National Test. My experience also includes training teachers in Gwinnett County and DeKalb County as an Elementary Mathematics trainer. I love teaching, children, and learning. I can’t imagine a more exciting or rewarding job. During my career I have taught every grade K-5 as a classroom teacher, served as a grade 1-5 Math specialist, and been a gifted education teacher. I feel extremely blessed to be the K - 5 Math Specialist at Sugar Hill!
The 2009 - 2010 school year, I was very honored to be Sugar Hill's Teacher of the Year. I was also chosen as a top 20 Semi-finalist for all of Gwinnett County. That is a tremendous honor considering the high quality education professionals that teach in Gwinnett County Schools.
Please know that I honestly feel that education is 100% a partnership between school and home. By working together we can be assured of having a very rewarding year. Feel free to e-mail or leave me a message with the front office. I do ask that no emergency messages be left anywhere but through the front office. I also ask that you allow 48 hours for me to respond to any messages that you send or leave for me. My preferred method of communication is e-mail because it is easier during short breaks to respond quickly.
Thank you for all that you do to support your child and our school . I look forward to working with you and your child.
Do math and you can do anything!
