WELCOME TO MRS. TIEMANN'S 5TH GRADE CLASSROOM dtiemann@kahoks.org 618.346.6311
Welcome 2011-2012 5th graders! I have a very exciting year planned for us! I wanted to tell you a little about myself. I am 44 yrs. old, married to Chris, and have two children, Zach, 14 yrs. old, and Abby, 10 yrs. old. I have a dog, Blackberry and a cat, Cally. I have lived in Collinsville all my life. I love to boat, especially on Bull Shoals lake. My favorite thing to do is read! I am so thankful that I have a job that I really love to do! I look forward to meeting you and your families. We are going to have a great year together!
Believe it or not, I went to Dorris Elementary School but it was in a different location. I went to North Jr. High, which is now our school, Dorris. I graduated from Collinsville High School in 1985. I went to SIUE for my Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. I also was certified as a National Board Teacher recieving my Master Teaching Certificate in 2007. I love learning and still go to school when I can afford it.

Re: Share with the class something fun you did this summer.
This summer my family bought a little cabin in Isabella, MO, on Bull Shoals lake. We spent a lot of time boating and playing in the country. Life is different in Ozark County. Everyone moves really slow!! No one gets in a hurry. I loved relaxing and reading while Abby, Zach, and Chris did what they like to do.
Re: Tell the class your favorite subject.
My favorite subject to teach is Science. However, my favorite thing to do is read. I really like math because you use it in almost everything you do. I like to write and create projects when it is something I am interested in. We will create a lot of projects in our class. Do you like using MS Power Point? How about Excel? Mrs. Tiemann

Let's Work Together To Stop Bullying
"If you see someone who is struggling to make friends, being bullied because he/she doesn't have many friends or because they are shy or not as pretty or not dressed in the most "in" clothes -- PLEASE step up. Say hi or at least smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference in someone's life! ♥"
Science Unit 1 - Scientific Process/Weather
We will be studying the scientific process, the way scientist conduct experiements, while learning about weather. If you could start saving empty liter soda bottles and film canisters to donate for projects I would greatly appreciate it!
I hope you are ready to investigate our world's weather!
