Welcome to our class photo album, showcasing photos from the 2008-09 and 2009-10 classes. Over the course of the school year, our class has the opportunity to have many exciting experiences such as launching rockets, racing rubber band propelled vehicles, making roller coasters out of rubber tubing, having a Thanksgiving feast that unites our families, cooking for Christmas, learning Halloween science, putting on a class play, writing to pen pals, and taking exciting field trips. We get to have some exciting guest speakers as well! Follow the journeys of the past few years and learn more about our class. Everyone is featured from this year's class so far.
To start off, good old Teaching Vision (http://www.teachingvision.org) is doing GREAT! Hopefully my advice on there is helping out many teachers. Currently we're featured at a few sites and are getting a lot of visitors from Florida and other states.
As for me, today I rented movies (one is The Bucket List, which has been advertised a lot lately), went shopping for a few hours, and cleaned. Most importantly, I got a lot of sleep, which I don't get while teaching throughout the year. The days I teach are dedicated to special projects and all kinds of planning, which can get tiring. I am currently preparing to go away for a few days to DeLand to see my best friend, and soon after I am going out of the state for a few days. Overall it's been an excellent summer so far, and I miss you all. Thank you, Selena and Gina, for the special messages. I hope to hear from more of you!
I am also trying to read some good books this summer and hope you read one at some point and time, also. I think between the time I was in fourth and fifth grade, I loved the book From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and The Phantom Tollbooth. I also loved series books like The Baby-Sitters Club at the time. I remember my favorite character from that series was Mary Anne because I was a lot like her, very quiet, intelligent, and always loving animals. There's so much out there to read for everyone, even some magazines like National Geographic for Kids, American Girl, and Boys' Life.
Best of all, there's great websites and games. Sims 2 is certainly exciting if you enjoy building and decorating houses and businesses as well as creating people. Roller Coaster Tycoon is the program I always shared in class, and the game we played towards the end of school was National Geographic for Kids' Show Me the Wild DVD game.
Take care and enjoy your time of rest! I certainly am.
Hi Miss Jasztal, it looks like your pumpkin festivities were a big hit this year. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures from our Pumpkin Day at DLE.
Take care, Miss Mooney
