Ms. Kayla, Just wanted you to know how very much you and Ms. Elaine were appreciated and loved this year. You two are fantastic teachers and really got Emma off to a great start in school. She learned and grew so much in your class and we are going to miss you so much next year. Hopefully she will be in your class in 5th grade. The Christmas Program was Great...I loved it... They looked to cute up there singing and dancing to their songs. Thanks Ms.Kayla for all you do....Brayden loves you and ms. elaine so much....its so sweet when he comes home telling me what yall did in the classroom today...i enjoy the site because i can come look at what brayden is doing in school.....he has so much fun in school.....he loves it....he wanted to come to school when he was sick but he couldnt....i look forward to the rest of the school year....its been fun so far......

We will miss you so much, Caden is hesitant about going into kindergarten without Ms Kayla, but I know what you have taught him will be of a great benefit next year. In checking my email, I felt I finally had time to click on your internet sharing page away from all the duties each school day demands. I browsed through the whole site and what a treat! I am so impressed with what I found! I had no idea that you have set up such a beautiful site that highlights the lovely children and wonderful activities that you provide each day. I want to share this with everyone and encourage other teachers to do similarly.

PK Field trip
We had a blast at the children's museum. The students loved the bean stalk climber and the alphabet room. Pictures will be coming soon. I want to send out a huge thank you to all the parents that joined us on the trip. You all are the reason the trip was so successful! I had so much parent support this year. Thank you!!!<3
Finally....
I am a graduate of WSSU. I have offically earned my Masters degree in elementary education. Today I also finished all my requirements to be a national board certified teacher. I will not hear anything about my results until November. I want to thank you all for your help and support during this time.
St. Patrick's Day
Tomorrow is St. Patrick's day. We are so excited about trying to catch a leprechaun. Our traps are set and ready! Everyone did such a great job making their traps. I hope everyone had a great time with their families completing the project.
Picture Day
Picture Day went great. Everyone looked so cute! We had our group picture taken first. It was hard for us all to stand so still but we did it! Next was our individual shots. We all had our best smiles on. We can't wait to see the pictures.
Intersession
Intersession went great! We had almost 70 Pre-K through 2nd graders come to Sparta School for some Winter Fun. We enjoyed taking a winter walk using our five senses and creating our own winter weather forecast. We also learned how animals survive in the cold arctic waters. We made snowmen, bird feeders, and enjoyed reading The Mitten by Jan Brett.
Field Trip to Corn Maze
Even though the day was kind of rainy, we did not let it spoil our spirits. We boarded the bus around 9:50 and then headed on our way to the big corn maze. We were so excited because for some of us it was our first time riding on a school bus. When we arrived at the maze we first saw the big bouncy slide and off we went. I even took a turn myself. We also enjoyed digging in the sand, throwing corn, and figuring out our way through the hay maze. The corn maze was a little big for us preschooler, but we did take a short stroll through the first part of it. It reminded the kids of their favorite song, we’re going on a Bear Hunt. Soon it was time to go back to school where we quickly ate lunch and drifted off the sleep. We had so much fun and a big thank you goes out to our PTA for making it possible.
Family Fun Night
Thank you all for coming to our Family Fun Night. We had a great turn out and I had lots of fun. The kids and parents did a great job with the fall crafts. I can't wait until the next one. Remember if you attend all the parent nights you will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate.
Collages
Our family collages are sooo CUTE!!! I have really enjoyed seeing all the family pictures. The kids have loved cutting and glueing with their parents. You must come by and see our works of art.
A BIG thank you
A big thank you goes out to all the parents for coming to read to us. We enjoyed the new stories. It was a great experience for everyone involved. If anyone would like to come back to read to us or do another type of project, please let me know.
Family Collages
I am excited about our upcoming project, our family collages. This is always such a fun activity. I enjoy meeting everyone and looking at all the pictures. The collages always turn out really well. Some parents have even decided to frame them.
Shape Theme
Our Shape lessons are going well. So far we have learned about circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. The students enjoyed exploring the room looking for the different shapes. We also discovered how to make the shapes using a variety of materials like popsicle sticks, play dough, paint and construction paper. Our favorite part was our shape show 'n tell. I loved seeing all the different shapes the students found in their homes. Thanks for helping us out with this activity.
Color Theme
We are having so much fun learning our colors. We have made yellow suns, red hearts, and purple grapes. We have also discussed our favorite colors. It has been neat seeing everyone dressed in our color of the day. My favorite day so far has been our Green day. We made green jello and had a picnic in the green grass. We had green gummy bears, green marshmallows, celery, broccoli, pickles and green kool-aid. We ate our green jello for snack. Yummy! We finish off our color theme we will be reading Mouse Paint and mixing colored cool whip to make secondary colors. We will also predict what will happen when colored ice cubes melt together and we are going to create color discovery bottles. I can't wait to get started.
New Playground
Wow! What a fun and exciting playground we have now! The students LOVE it! Right now their favorite seems to be the tube connecting the slides. We are soo lucky to have a real playground this year. I am looking forward to many fun times outside this year.
1st Day Thoughts
Both Pk groups had a wonderful first day. We enjoyed many fun activities such as playing in centers, listening to stories, and painting. I can't wait until Monday so we all can be together in one group. I also want to thank all the parents for getting in their child's school supplies so quickly. It helps out so much. Thanks again.
