ANOTHER ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT!
Last month all eighth graders in the Archdiocese took the Assessment of Catechesis and Religious Education (ACRE). This assessment measures our students' progress in Faith Knowledge as well as personal attitudes and beliefs. At Holy Family this assessment follows the many months of preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. As part of that preparation students spend much time discussing and reviewing the basic beliefs and practices of their Catholic faith.
I would like to share with you the general results of the student performance on the Faith Knowledge portion of the ACRE test. Seventy-five percent of the Holy Family eighth graders achieved at the highest level and scored in the ADVANCED category. When compared to the national norm where 17% score in the ADVANCED category, our students once again make us very proud to be a part of Holy Family School!
CONGRATULATIONS TO TREY HUGHES!!
Join me in congratulating Trey Hughes and his family! Trey has been awarded the 2012 Queen's Daughters Scholarship. This scholarship award is given each year to one boy and one girl in our Archdiocese who have chosen to attend a Catholic high school. Trey submitted an essay expressing the importance of continuing his Catholic education and noting his academic success and service to the community. This is the fourth time Holy Family School has celebrated a winner for this $2000 scholarship award! Hooray for Trey and for Holy Family School!
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
Mr. Greg Nickels began his 21st year as the Holy Family eighth grade Junior Achievement instructor on October 19. Mr. Nickels volunteers his time to teach the students about careers, business and personal economics. He is the owner of Automatic Air Corporation which has been providing heating and air conditioning services in Louisville since 1945. We feel very fortunate to have Mr. Nickels working with us.
