FYI: I, unfortunately, got a computer virus through the district e-mail. If you received an e-mail on Feb. 27 advertising ways to get money--please ignore. It has been fixed and all should be normal today :) Thank you for your understanding.
School starts on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
Thank you for all the people who made it possible to get the project funded! We just received seventy books that are the top recommended by YALSA. Students can check them out as they wish :) Happy Holidays!

Work experience: this is my sixth year teaching English at Maria Carrillo High School. I have taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Academic English here, as well as the support class for 9th and 10th grades.
I recently received my Master's of Education: Reading and Language at Sonoma State University, as well as my Reading Certificate which gives me the specialization to teach reading at any grade level and to work closely with struggling students.
I try to stay on top of current research and educational practices that I incorporate into my classroom to help benefit my students. I also am an avid reader of young adult fiction and love to help people find a book with which they will fall in love. Feel free to ask for recommendations and encourage your kids to use our classroom library. I have worked hard to get several grants passed for the newest award-winning young adult literature. I have hundreds of books available to students in my classroom.
If you have questions about grades or homework, you can e-mail me at jstarling@srcs.k12.ca.us or leave a message for me at 528-5780x6287.
