Please join us for a celebration!!!
Friday, May 29, 2009, we will be hosting our Kindergarten Celebration . The program will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please send your child to school the regular time. It is important that each child go to his/her classroom while you find your seat in the cafeteria. Please send your child dressed in his/her best outfit, as this is a very important day for our students. All of the children will be receiving a certificate to celebrate a tremendous year of learning.
Following the ceremony, we will serve light refreshments, with the program ending at 10:45 a.m. Any parent wishing to check their child out is free to do so, as it will not be counted as an absence. It would be a celebration day for a special lunch with you and your child. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you,

Dear parents:
I am sure that you are ready for your kids to go back to school, and quite honestly, I am ready to return to class as well. We still have lots of learning to do before our kids go to first grade, so now is not the time to lighten up on the sight word study or weekly skill study. I have some fun new activities planned with our new smartboard as soon as the new projector arrives, so make sure to ask your little one about it. Please review your child's sight words before we return to class to refresh their memories, as well as identifying, writing and ordering 0-20 (3x5 cards work great for this). If you are interested in volunteering to help the kids with their accelerated reader tests, please let me know. The cold season is upon us, if you find yourself with extra bottles of hand sanitizer, please don't hesitate to send it in. We are always sanitizing and washing our hands throughout the day. Good wishes and blessings for a great 2009. See you soon.
Dear Parents/Volunteers:
Thank you for making our class celebration a success with your help and donations. Merry Christmas to all!!!!
Happy Holidays!
Parents we are still working very hard on our sight words, even though the holiday season is upon us. Please continue practicing sight words, sounding out words and reading your keep books throughout the Christmas break. See you in January!

Dear parents,
I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Holiday. I am sure that we are all a bit heavier than we were last week. Classess will continue as normal, however I sent home several notices for you to fill out and return this week: the Santa shop note, if your child wants to participate, the Holiday Party note and the beginning of a set of books called Keep books. Please make sure your child reads them with you each and every night. Sight word testing will resume this week, as will our official reading program. Each child will bring home a book (Kip the Ant) to read with you. Please read it each night, cover the pictures and ask them to find certain words and letters. Believe me, they memorize the book very quickly. After you read the book with your child, make sure to initial and date the 3x5 card each day so that your child many get a treat at the end of the week. Now as far as stories goes,we will be reading different holiday books over the next several weeks. We will aslo be making crafts, and working on math skills. Please continiue to send in snack when it is your week to do so, read with your child each night and practice those sight words. I am so proud of all our kids. Keep it up!
Dear parents:
I am so happy to report that our children are having great success with their sight words. 15 out of 18 of our children know ALL 15 of the sight words we have practiced so far. Give yourselves a hand parents, because without your help, we could not do it. Keep up the hard work.
Please remember that our class is having a Thanksgiving food drive. We are collecting food throughout the school to make baskets for those in need.
If you would like your child to shop in the Santa shop, please send in the note I sent home last week. If you have lost the note, let me know and I will send a new one home.
We are also collecting box tops and soup labels for our class.

Hello parents,
Thank you for an awesome open house. It was wonderful being able to connect with some of the parents of my star Kindergarten class. Last week, we worked on the letters Rr and Dd, counting to 20 and sounding out words. We also learned about different helpers in our community, such as our police officers, firefighters, medical staff, sanitation workers and teachers. Please make sure to ask your child about his/her favorite community helper. During this week, we will be working on the following skills: patterning, writing 0-20, the letters/sounds of Tt and Ii, reciting our One, two buckle my shoe rhyme, and rhyming words. Please remember that your child will not master writing his/her first name until they are consistently writing their first name using a capital letter followed by lower case letters. Please remember to check the snack schedule to see if it is your child's turn to bring in snack. Mid-term reports will go home Friday, September 19th. Please review it with your child, sign and return it. As you know, the school planners never came in. We are implementing the folder system. I will send folders home each Friday with the entire week's work for you to go over. Things in the right pocket are to be kept, while things in the left pocket are to be returned. Please return the folders on Monday. If you would like to spend time in our classroom helping with the Accelerated Reader, please give me a call to set it up at 352-481-5321.
